More About “Lovefool”
"Lovefool" is a song written by Peter Svensson and Nina Persson for Swedish rock band the Cardigans' third studio album, First Band on the Moon (1996). It was released as the album's lead single in Sweden in mid-1996 and on 9 September 1996 in the United Kingdom. In the United States, the song was released to radio in August 1996.
Following a re-release in 1997, "Lovefool" found international success, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart and achieving moderate success on other European charts. In North America, it reached number three in Canada and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 Airplay Chart (it did not appear on the Hot 100 due to rules in place at the time). Persson wrote the lyrics to the song at an airport while waiting for a plane. She later said that the song is "quite a sad love song; the meaning of it is quite pathetic, really." She also added that "the biggest hits are the ones that are the easiest to write".She said that, at the time, the song "was slower and more of a bossa nova". Persson noted that the band knew the potential commercial appeal of the song, saying, "We definitely were aware that it was a single and a catchy song when we wrote it, but the direction it took is not something we could have predicted. It wasn't necessarily our character; it felt like a bit of a freak on the record -- which, objectively, it still is. But then when we were recording, by chance, our drummer started to play that kind of disco beat, and there was no way to get away from it after that".

This song was a secret favorite of mine back in the day. A 14 year old boy would be done for if caught listening to this in the 90s. I bought the Romeo and Juliet cd for this song but told everyone it was for the Radiohead song. Now as a 40 year old man if this comes on the radio I blast it and sing it with the windows down. IDGAF
same, but Carnival was the track (and video, really) that really got to me in a big way.
My friends & I rocked as hard as anybody, quickly moving back through the decades and we love the Cardigans 🤷🏼♂️
Rofl! Your good brother. I felt this comment. Very true but fuck it. We all know the lyrics to this song.
Where did you grow up? I'm from S. Texas, everyone was jamming to this tune. It was everywhere. The 90s was a far more accepting time that today. People truly didn't care back then.

Beautiful. And props to whoever had the idea to show the gear of each of the players like that. It's quick and inobtrusive.
Yeah that's really well done. Big improvement.
The uploader is a music gear store, so it would be odd if they just put on a band performance video for no reason other than entertainment.
@@darwinsaye you missed his point. They used to just list the gear in the description.
Jazz chords with a rock beat…. Love it
The Cardigans are the premier Black Sabbath cover band.
Absolutely right!
yes!!!!
The Cardigans are one of my favorite bands of all time.
This song is so much more intricate than I remember. I guess I never really paid attention to it. Great stuff!
Right! Thanks for watching!!
The pre chorus chord change is one of the cooler chord changes I can think of tbh
Was waiting eagerly for the fuzzy guitar part, that's actually the best thing in the song... Sadly absent.
I know right?!? It’s not like the musicianship, vocals, composition, and mix aren’t done to professional levels! How dare they!
Right? It's not as if they played the WHOLE song, which they don't always do.
This sounds so good. Singer is incredible and the band is locked in tight 10/10
Absolutely the best cover of Lovefool I’ve ever heard! Bravo Laurel!
I always look forward to Full Band Fridays! Killer performance.
Laurel slays!!

God that is a gorgeous performance. Well done everyone! Nat is the man when he can just hang back in the groove and supplement the band.

Followed Back
Love this! Reminds me of when I used to tape songs off the radio onto a cassette tape... every track was so exciting back then. Can we get a duet with Laurel and Elizabeth next??
Call me the algorithm booster
never; i won't give into the algorithm mind-wars
This is perfect, I just wish they somehow implemented the lead guitar lines. Also both singers should be singing "love me, love me"
Is that a Zion 90 guitar ?
Швеция великая империя музыки
the bass player can sing 2 notes at once?
How many people reminded of Andy in The office by this? LOL
where can I get a green sham wow like the bass bro has?
1994? Mmmmmm
I find this song irritating and dumb... but I loved this! LOL
my band in college tried covering this song but the guitarist couldn't get all the chords and it sucked
love is overrated ☠️
This was lame.
