How to Get a Free Barcode

If you want your book to be as professional as possible, you will want a good barcode that includes the EAN-5 bars as well as the ISBN. The EAN-5 contains the price and it used to book retailers to display the price of your book in their system. Many sources try to sell you the barcodes, but this is an unnecessary step, as there are many places online where you can generate your own barcodes for free. This video will look at three of those resources and how to use them.

I just had a quick question: once your book is listed on Amazon, can you easily have the flexibility to set a lower price after assigning a price on the barcode? Or would Amazon detect the barcode price, and you're then locked into that/penalised for lowering the set price? Many thanks

The price 'US $15.99' placed vertically on the left side -- I didn't see how that was added. Am I right to assume that is not part of the barcode, but added manually in your cover design app? Can that price be included by the Ingram Sparks barcode?

1.) I add the price and use the Layer --> Rotate to put it rotated.
2.) When you create the template, you are asked for a price. If you input a price, the pricing barcode is added.

You mention that you like the Ingramspark barcode the best, but don't you have to pay to upload your book to Ingramspark? I'm not sure how this is a free barcode. . . . Okay, nevermind! I didn't want until the end of the video, lol! I was thinking the whole time that you have to pay to upload to Ingramspark so how would this be useful.

Where do you get your EAN-5 code? Not the barcode, but the actual numbers.
