Lost my barber that night. He cut my hair earlier that same week. Suddenly I go grab food that night, only to sit down and see on the news that the man that cut my hair just days earlier was murdered? In a hate crime? At a church that I drive by multiple times throughout the week? No, like what do you mean? All these years later and it’s still heart shattering and honestly still hard to accept. God rest the souls of all who lost their lives that tragic night.

Wow. I knew they invited him in but I didn’t realize they literally addressed him when he walked in and offered a seat next to the pastor so he would feel included in the service. They embraced him as one of their own and offered him the sense of community he clearly needed. God this is horrifying.

I would argue that one facet of being good is being potentially dangerous to bad people. If not for yourself, for the people you care about. I don't find it particularly good to be useless in the face of evil. For evil to fail, people have to refuse to be victims. Relying on other people to do it for you is like relying on other people to choose what you eat or what job to do. No one can provide security for you and yours better than you can, and it's a modern conceit that you can just abdicate that responsibility to government.

You were a closeted racist, full of repressed rage, or just unmotivated and unfocused? Dylan missed so much school I don’t see why the high school just let him flunk out of 9th grade. Somebody, a teacher, a guidance counselor, heck, even a lunch lady or the janitor could have taken him under wing. A janitor in my school where I taught first grade told me about this seventh grader who’d been in my class years before, moved away, then came back. He was absent and truant a lot, failing his classes, always looked unhappy. When I realized who he was, I convinced the janitor to bring him to me in the library after class. He’d been through lots of stuff like Dylan, parents divorcing, remarrying, divorcing, moving all over, having step siblings only to lose them, a real mess. It was nothing official, but he agreed to try tutoring with me. An assessment revealed he was dyslexic and reading on a grade three level. No wonder he was failing grade seven! By year’s end, I convinced his father with whom he’d moved back, to enroll him in one of the non-graded academies for non-traditional students. There, he got the attention and kind of approach he needed. He was able to rejoin a regular high school as a junior and graduated only eight months late, but still 18, so he didn’t stick out as left back. He’s now a master bricklayer and stone mason, and has his own business.

The intersection there on Hwy 74 is generally busy, as it was this day.
When the police here pulled Roof over, he kept his hands on the steering wheel, and had the window down.
When the officer approached the window, Roof told him "I know you are looking for me."
The officer asked where his gun was located, and he told him in the back seat.
He was then removed from the car, and taken into custody.
Had the Shelby police escalated the situation, he may have went for his gun, and ended up injuring or killing one of them, or possibly a motorist, or someone at the gas station across the street. The nine at the church were already too many.

I know it’s been 11 months since video was posted.
I swear to God True Story 🙏🏾
    I’m from West Columbia,SC
moved to Red Bank which is in Lexington,SC I lived exactly 5 minutes from Dylann Roof home.
On June 17,2015 I had an appointment in Charleston,SC to see a specialist for my HS. After my appointment my husband, daughter and I stopped by Folly Beach I took pictures that day bc it was so beautiful in Charleston.
When we got back home saw the news we were in shock!! Bc we just left from Charleston,SC!!
I was and still sad for the victims to this day bc I was enjoying my visit of a beautiful scene and taking pictures on our way back home to Lexington and other the side of the highway an animal was coming from Lexington to Charleston to commit the most horrific crime…
After some health issues with me we were finally able to return to Charleston. And first thing I did before leaving Charleston was going by Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church to pay my respects to the 9 victims that lost their lives 🙏🏾..

What is sad is how this could affect churches with black congregations welcoming white ppl into their fold, rightfully so. The best church i ever attended was an all black church. When they asked for visitors, all eyes turned to me and my friend .... we were white. By the end of the evening, we were treated as their own. They were the sweetest kindest ppl in a church i had ever met .. and i joined the church and was there for a little over a year until i moved away. I still am in touch with some of them years later. This story hit home and breaks my heart for the innocent victims.

Nice grandma's and grandpa's were killed because they were brown.
    And I didn't understand that.
At the time, I knew I was brown. I wasn't their dark pretty chocolate brown, I was sandy brown. My mother was white like the murderer. Why would someone who looked like my mum murder nice brown people like me?
Almost a decade later, I still wish I knew why.

I’m sorry you had to deal with this! Unfortunately all people are born with a sin nature and make right or wrong choices daily. This was a horrific choice this kid made now he’s reaping what he’s sown. You have to ultimately ask yourself have I always made the right choices? We do this by the schoolmaster or meaning the 10 commandments. One of them being Thou shalt not kill. I know this doesn’t seem fair but killing in Gods eyes is just as bad as lying or stealing. We have to ultimately make one choice in our lives that gives us eternal hope. If you’ve broken just one of the Ten Commandments, The Lord says you’re guilty of all of them. But He made a way for we as sinners by sending His only Son who committed no sin and died sacrificially for everyone. Jesus Christ died for you but in three days was risen from the dead just like the scriptures say.
The number 1 thing you need to do is understand we are all sinners and need a Savior. To repent and and admit you know you’ve sinned against a Holy God and ask Him to save you from this wicked life is the most important decision you can make. To understand that and turn from sin is to repent like doing a 180 degree turn and to understand that just like you’re reading this right now that Jesus Christ literally rose from the dead! He’s the only one who can save! This is a tragic story above. But each one of those people that were gunned down that placed their faith in Christ are with Him in eternity! Same goes for you if you realize that it’s by grace you are saved through faith and not of yourself but the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.

We are not like this. Most of us are accepting of most people (personally I draw the line at hard drug users, people who beat their spouses or kids or guys who spent decades in prison for violent crimes). This really shows the dangers of finding these types of rabbit holes filled with false information and a warped perspective of the world. May all the victims in this situation rest in peace 💔🕊🙏

@@angelolopez2319 first of all, they’re not really even “stats.” They confirmed convictions made by the DOJ. Every year they’re updated and every year a certain trend is continued to be proven true.
You can’t really debunk them, unless you’re saying that our court system isn’t credible, in which case, free Dylan! Lol

He got away without any police seeing him at all that just seems kind of weird.. How long did it take police officers to get there that the guy was able to just walk out and drive down the street without being noticed??
