    Dude, this couldn't have come at a better time for me. I'm running Juggernaut AI too and just failed my first deadlift in 6+ months and really got in my own head, even though if I had made it, it would have been a 15# lifetime PR, a day after hitting a lifetime PR squat! This was exactly the right sort of mindset coaching I needed to hear going into next week's training. Gonna keep that needle moving forward! Thanks Brandon

    The big thing for me is that I will miss a lift or something and then want to quit the workout because I get in a bad head space. But he truth is that, I am probably just having an off day and I should continue the workout with 5-10% weight drop from what I expect to do. Finish the workout and remember that bad days will happen, just get through them.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 года назад

      True that! That's where I think RPE and back offs come into play for me. The app makes this easier as for my top set I rated it a 10 and that I didn't hit the goal reps and it gave me pretty doable back offs.

  • @Xplora213
    @Xplora213 3 года назад

    Good update. You hit upon a whole bunch of interesting points about the structure of block programming and the discipline of it which I have started to dislike, as a man a similar age to you. Children and work happen. Realistically, you should have had a deload week and while you would lost some actualised gains, the mental health is more important - finishing a great set should not require looking through your logs to justify your efforts. You can run the program again. You can run the block again. Or switch to conjugate and rely on each week to move forward rather than each quarter. 😉
    Congrats on the progress!

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 года назад +1

    I've been running Juggernaut since January without failing a single lift until this Thursday, when I could not finish even my first set of what should have been an RPE 8. I've been extremely disappointed not only because I've done more weight than that multiple times in earlier blocks, but my powerlifting meet is one week from today so it couldn't have happened at a worse time. Going to try to keep in mind that it was just a bad day in a stressful week and not let it get to me going into this competition.

      It's an impressive pull. However the RUclips powerlifting experts will tell you that if you're not pulling 800lbs you're weak. Meanwhile in the real world his numbers are great.
