Making it like new again. All serviced up and ready to mow. #johndeere #johndeeregreen #johndeerezerosteer #washchempro50 Contact me: oneeyecustoms22@gmail.com
They don't make them like they used to Doug. That's a really unique mower. I don't know if I would be able to sell something like that if I had it. I don't think they make anything today that'll last 25 years in that kind of condition. It obviously was well taken care of. Stay safe and healthy. Bill H from Cranberry Township
If you are looking for a new on i have had my Kubota ZD21 for 17 years and would say it is the best machine i have ever owned. It is a zero turn with a 60 in. deck and 21 hp. diesel. i have done nothing to it but oil changes and sharpen blades. It has a built in jack to jack it up to jack up the deck. They are worth looking at but not cheap.
That thing is a beauty. Having a mid-mounted zero turn now I would love to have that front tilt-up mower. So much easier to service than mine. Tell Autumn she’s supposed to be IN FRONT of the camera not behind!
Tip for putting in a sparkplug on the side with no room. use a vacuum hose in the wire end and makes is easy to turn. Mower looks great. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
I keep an extra set of sharp blades for my Grasshopper 220 mid mount (2001 model). That way I only have to get down on the ground once to have sharp blades. I usually change them out every 4 mowings. More often if we mow our church or a rental property.
Nice machine Doug. I see a lot of cushman and grasshopper in this design. One more critical maintenance task is…clean engine cooling fins. Thankfully JD/Kohler thought about how much a PIA it is to do on horizontal crank engines set in this configuration and installed inspection/clean out plates. Those gold color zinc covers on the front of engine cowling are what they are for. Remove and blow out with compressed air.
Brilliant little machine, a reason to keep not mentioned as yet, it would be immune to a EMP due to no computer chips! Good job Doug as usual. Take care
Hey Neighbor Doug! I enjoy seeing what you are up to with Adam. I quit the rat race yrs ago & drove a Grasshopper 60" front deck ztr mower for the municipal cemetery in a central USA state. I put in 8 hr days on the machines all summer. Wish I still had property to keep up but I live in the desert now where the extreme heat this summer killed many native plants. Wonderful seeing green grass and trees on your property and remembering my mowing times.
Can't beat a front mount! I like the way the suspension is built into the entire operator station. Is it missing some housings over the pulleys on the outside, or is it just old school enough when manufacturers didn't care too much about things like that? Ha
Kohler Command 20hp engines are great I've got one in my Cub Cadet 2206 and I'm happy with it. I hope to someday have a nice big yard and really see how well it does I only ever get to use it for about 30 minutes at a time small yard problems 😆
Doug you've done an outstanding job on your channel your content is always interesting and entertaining , not sure what your mechanical background is but you have a wealth of knowledge and always great to see and learn something new , keep up the good work .
Doug, I may have missed it or someone else may have said it already, but a little red inline fuel shutoff would help preserve that carb for the winter.
Doug looks good for the age I have a wheel horse thats a couple years older and keeps on ticking. I always clean the deck and paint it before the next mowing season to help with rusting. But that John Deer is looking good
Care, use and maintenance is the key to long running equipment. Of course, you have to start with good equipment. Long reach hose pliers are a great tool to have for those tough to reach spark plug boots and other hoses. What a nice machine. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
That old saying of "They don't make like that anymore" really applies to this tractor/mower. I bet you could get another 800 hours out of that without much more than normal maintenance.
Great video Doug! Super job. You are an amazing man. You have more tools than anyone I know. The thing is you know how to use all of them. For my 2¢ worth, I’d keep it if for nothing else, sentimental reasons. I understand if it’s time to let it go though. It can be a Marie Condo moment. Thank it for its service and let it go. If you decide on the other hand to keep it good for you. If not someone is going to acquire a marvelous mower. You are 1 in a million. See you in the next installment.
Tough to believe the number of hours. The size of lawns involved makes me think 750 hours would be put on in 7-12 years. Not doubting your veracity but wondering if the math or gauge are off. God’s Blessings, Curly
750 hours in 25 years does seem pretty low, that's only 30 hours per year. My 2021 Scag has 125 hours on it and I cut an area that's about 1/2 the size of your front yard. May the clock has rolled over already? :) Also, have you considered using Fluid Film on the bottom of the deck to help keep grass from sticking and help reducing the rust on the deck?
I thought the same thing with such “low hours” given it’s age. My brand new Wright ZXT 72 already has 80 hours and I’ve only cut with it since April of this year… and I’m not a professional landscaper. Doug’s JD reminds me of our old Cushman diesel front mount mower that we have on the farm, but the steer tires are in the rear.
I have an almost 30 year old JD Commercial walk behind. The thing is a tank and it starts up on the first or second pull every time. I almost sold it when I got my zero turn but, I could not part ways with such a great machine. I do clean up the scratches at the end of the year and touch them up just keep it looking good. I wish my yellow rims looked as good as yours. Did you ever paint the rims?
Hey Doug good morning on that mower deck pressure wash under it but don't prime get a quart of truck bed coating and put on that deck will last for ever that stuff is tough but do not prime
I finally saw a John deer equipment I would buy and it was made for only 2 years. Must have cost John deer's service center lots of money to have something that did not come in every two months. 😂 JK John deer boys.
Hey Doug! Do you think this is a good deal? New equipment at the local JD dealer. JD 1025R utility tractor. 2023 model. 120R loader with bucket 260B backhoe with bucket $26,200 Plus Sales Tax total $28,296.
Hi Doug, my guess is if it is a new 2023 and with the 2024’s already out they may want to sell it so it isn’t a left over from the previous model year. I would see if you can get another quote from another John Deere dealer on a 2024 and see if there is much of a price increase.
@@OneEyeCustoms The 2023 1025R is $18,035 for the quote I got, the 2024 is listed at $18,396, not much of an increase. But I can't find the prices for 2024 on the loader and backhoe. There is only one dealer near me here in South Carolina near North Myrtle Beach. It's about 12 miles from me. The rest are too far away and delivery charges would be too much. The three on the lot are brand new with less than 10 hours on the meter. Probably just from the factory to transport and off loading at the dealer and Dealer testing an prep. So I don't think there would be much price increase over the 2023 equipment. Thanks for answering.
Hey Neighbor Doug, to get your subscribers up you need to come up with a "sen·sa·tion·al Headline". I appreciate all of your good advice, others will too. AC

I agree on everything you said!!! 😁
The Zero Steer is in Excellent Condition 😀
Everything Doug touches runs like a turbine………..another great video 🙏

Extra blades are always nice to have around!
Looks like a keeper.

The older equipment is better built. Good job saving it!

Love that engine and deck access. Easy to work on. Very well thought out.
Good morning Doug, I enjoy your videos keep it going

I take them off the first minute I own one. They just trap grass and dirt and wear things out faster.
Doug your videos always inspire me to get up and start working on projects every weekend! Thanks
That is awesome!
Well Doug it was 25 years old and now it’s back to looking 👀 new great 👍 job and video ❤😊😮
Keep It Doug!!!!
That is a very cool mower and in great shape for being 25+ years old
No new F350 for me. 😜

Be careful what you wish for, I seam to spend way too much time mowing. Lol
@@OneEyeCustoms I love mowing personally lol but at the same time a small yard with a rental house is ok right away to 😆
Great job on the tune up! Should be able to get some good money for that.
Well, it is already spoken for. The new home buyer wanted it.
Doug you've done an outstanding job on your channel your content is always interesting and entertaining , not sure what your mechanical background is but you have a wealth of knowledge and always great to see and learn something new , keep up the good work .

It is talked about in the video, there is an inline shut off. Just before I changed the fuel filter.
Good video Doug. I liked it.
Thanks 👍
Old guys on old mowers rule! That one looks like a keeper.
Lol, yep

Nice work Doug. I love it when you take something and clean it up.

That machine was well taken care of!! Thanks for sharing
You bet
Just me, but I would wire brush the bottom of the deck to get rid of loose rust and then spray it with Rust Reformer.
Great video Doug! Super job. You are an amazing man. You have more tools than anyone I know. The thing is you know how to use all of them. Good thing you edited out how many times you swore while working on that back plug! That's a tight fit!
You got that right!
Hi Doug, with a little effort and dedication to maintenance, it will live Long and Prosper 🖖. 😊👍👍👍
Yes it will

It was only used for trim mowing and not used every week. My father in law and I both have bigger mowers for the large areas.

The rims are still the factory paint job. They have held up well.

Is this the last Z-turn mower made to handle hills?
It doesn’t do hills very well.
Messaging from Maryland Doug. What’s the asking price?
Sorry, it sold already. But thanks for asking!
Have you done hydrogear service on this thing yet?
Sold it.
how much for mower?
It is already spoken for, sorry!
