    I was a city girl when I met my husband at the age of 17. We went to the garden to get potatoes and I didn’t realize they grew under the ground. 😂. I learned quickly. My kids grew up in 4 H and we made sure they knew where they did come from. Nice harvest

    Great Harvest Girl!!! I Love How The Kids Got Into Digging Once They Saw How Much Fun It Can Be... It's Like Finding Buried Treasure... My Parents Were Homesteaders And Growing Up Digging Potatoes Was My Favorite Harvest... My Dad Grew Both Potatoes And Tomatoes For Commercial Consumption And We Lived In Central Texas... The Sun Was Blistering Hot So Tomato Harvest Was My Least Favorite Harvest... I Just Couldn't Handle The Heat And I Would Get Heat Exhaustion And Migraine Headaches But Still Persevered Because We Had To... I Miss Farm Life And The Gardens... I'm 59 Yrs Old Now And Have Kidney Failure So Farming And Gardening Are Not An Option For Me Any Longer... I Love You And Your Beautiful Family... ❤❤❤

    Please keep us updated, with the curing and storing that you do, if it isn’t too much trouble. I love to grow potatoes, usually have good results. I struggle with storing them. The only way I know that works without fail is to can them. Would love to know more about storing in different ways. Thank you!!

    Nice looking potato harvest. Nice seeing the family working together for food. My dad would leave them in the ground to harden off. He would dig them in late fall before the first frost. They would last all winter into spring.

    Cook your red potatoes with green beans.sooo good

    • @1Melody1963
      @1Melody1963 5 дней назад

      Yes. I actually can mine that way, green beans with peeled potatoes in the same jar. It started years ago when I didn’t have a canner full of beans, had some new potatoes coming in. I remembered getting some mixed in a can from the grocery store. I thought why not? Been doing it that way on purpose ever since.

    • @OurSmallTownLife

      😍😍 I go out 2-3 times a week and hand pick off any pests. I know that can sound excessive and time consuming but it really doesn't take too long and makes a big difference. If I feel like it needs something I use a little diatomaceous earth but I don't like using it alot once things have blossoms because I don't want to chance the bees getting on it.

    I’m always having potatoes sprout. When you plant them do you plant the whole potatoe or just the sprout.
    I’m not a gardener. What a harvest. Would love to eat some. Know they will be good.
