Question nobody seems to have the answer to. How do you make a pad on the 4000 with a sample plays when you press it, and a different one plays when you release the pad. Like a tambourine sample? It's nowhere on the manual and akai doesnt have a clue. Do you know? I know I stumbled upon the assign zone to note off but I haven't been able to find the menu again
Hi Ian, I have an old MPC 4000 OS. Can you tell and/or show me and most likely many others, how to update up to Version 1.71. I'm totally lost bro.. Thx bro
Download the MPC4000 OS and OS Loader program from www.akaipro.com/support. The downloaded file is a .zip format. If your computer does not unzip this file use a program like Stuffit to uncompress it. You should have a .bin file when this is done. With the MPC4000 plugged into a computer’s USB port drag the OS file into the Loader program. note: The OS file is in .bin format. Do not “unstuff” or uncompress this file.
+IanCanefire woah sheesh. honestly i was wondering if you'd answer me, because it seemed you answered all the cool question and i dind' know if you'd think that my question is cool. i started with the MPC but now i switched to the Ableton Push 2 with ableton suite. stilll gotta learn a lot, but it was definitly worth it
+B4tll3m0nst4 daws and tablet apps nowadays are more powerful, and stable. once that was not the case. i do not use a computer or tablet because i simply like gear with knobs. computers come with upgrades and all manner of headache. i just press the "on" button and go with mpc. no doubt laptop, tablet, korg gadget app users are making great music. its all about what makes u most productive in the end. peace.
+IanCanefire yes. its all about the result that you get. i was searching for "breakcore MPC" on youtube and your vid was the first result. but i think when you want to chop up the Amen Break in a breakcore way you just shooting yourself in the foot when you use an MPC. peace. Lachajim!
Surely this would be better to chop your edits manually as i can hear lots of clicks after you rearranged the Amen, this really does not sound good to my ears and people seemed to be doing a much better job 20 years ago using old Akai S1000 samplers, i'm not meaning to be negative towards your video but this really does not sound good with those clicks, i'm sure spending more time and doing the edits manually will give a much better result though :p
Obviously. This is just a 10 minute video showing a process. Who in their right mind would consider this professionally mixed and edited for release? There are many ways to remove the clicks. I didn't filter anything and there was a mistaken routing that caused that smeary bass sound. Peace.
Nice video! I've never used a 4000, really cool to see it in action :) And a classic sample as well. Cheers :)
Thanks for watching. I am a fan of your live approach and music.
Nice work!

Why not eat a pretzel instead of a banana?
