Its a Fahaka or Nile puffer (Tetraodon lineatus), yes fully freshwater

Sure, I have mine in a planted tank. It takes a bit of extra effort to keep things clean and not let detritus build up, but not too hard.

I've not noticed any problems with the ones I've tried - but thats all I can say
