My first impression of the cam is pretty good, but I am a bit underwhelmed by the quality of the 360 pictures. I feel like my phone does significantly better pictures :(
I do many photospheres for Google Maps and this was one of the bigger reasons I decided to buy this cam.
You're welcome! I assume you have used the 72MP resolution. Also, since you are taking a still photo, lower the ISO down to 100 and that should help. I have had mixed results when using auto settings, but manually adjusting the settings does make a difference.

Great explanations, but for me I’m feeling disappointed by the image quality. From other RUclipsrs and especially the marketing, it makes it look like they have used a totally different camera? How much tinkering needs to be done in the settings, having a clear day to film, and walking slow and steady?
Edit: I have to edit as I originally commented about 1/2 way into the video, but to add, this is the most excellent thorough review I have seen to date. I think it's the first one that wasn't blatantly pushing me into clicking an affiliate link. I will keep this for serious reference. /Edit.

How to send video and photo content from your Insta360 X3 camera to my local album in my ANDROID PHONE. when I review exported pictures I won't be able to see it in 360 why, or there is another way to see it the same way i see in insta360 app
thank you for a exellent review. I couldn't find a way for combine 360 videos and export them in 4k. Android app doesn't allow to export 4k 360 video, desktop app also doesnt allow to combine videos and apply filters that on mobile app. And I need to record longer videos. I'm recording while riding motocycle. Helmet does not allow to charge

Thank you for your wonderful videos on the X3. I ordered one a few days ago and am looking forward to working with it.
From watching your videos and those of others, I am now extremely wary of using the X3 as an "action" camera due to the risk of the lenses being scratched and the difficulty, or impossibility, of repairing them. I have also read that all of the protective lens caps that are available for X3 tend to distort the images at the stitching point. Do you have any suggestions for resolving this situation other than using the X3 with more caution than other action cameras, which is a bit of an oxymoron?

Hello Jordan, I love how you explain about this Insta 360 X3, I’m going have vacay for my home country soon and my husband have gift for me which is Insta 360 X3 bcos I love this camera hehe. I have a question bcos I’m gonna use it for beach too. Do I need to put something cover for this if I take this in ocean or this is safe already?

My android shows that it does not show the live view video being viewed/recorded
Just got my X3, and trying to figure out what's going on. HDR video in less than full bright sunlight was less than great, at times, much less. This was on a motorcycle. An earlier ride looked pretty good though.

Enjoyed your video. I'm a senior going on a month visit to thailand. Active but no running. Looking for no hands accessories for camera. Also would getting 360 go better ghan 360x3 as it is smaller for no hands. Is getting Amazon better pricing than store individual accessories with camera.
@jordanhetrick when you start recording with the app, will it continue to record if you switch to a different app or minimize the insta360 app (ex: you are driving and using maps)?

May I ask a question: when Insta 360x is on, the flash is always bright blue and the whole device is hot, isnt it? My device is always hot and the flash is blue all the time when I'm using it. Is it normal?
I was NOT expecting the X3 to have a removable battery! That’s pretty cool, but i prefer GoPro due to their better durability.
Thank you for doing this. I decided to buy the insta360 for marching band (mostly) and other fun activities. I joined marching band because of my friend who passed away in a house fire and I am honoring him by joining his spot. He played the sousaphone aka the tuba which is heavy but fun when you get used to it. Thank you for the guide as I will be heavily using this camera in the future.

Thank you for responding Jordan. I got the insta360 at Dec 15 and I had no idea what settings I should use right. I've been following your videos and I was very happy that you put out a insta360 video out for a guide. I would love to talk to you more and honestly talk to you online for a lot of things I had in mind because you honestly take it into consideration. I would love for you to see in next Aug, September, or October of the marching band videos that I will be recording for the first time in life. I never had a action camera but I do know how it works. I am 14 and I have a lot to learn but still thank you for bringing a video out for the best results of my insta360 X3. Hope to see you soon in the future! ♥️

OK about halfway through the video, decision not to buy now made, ain't nobody got time for messing with all those settings. Time you've selected how you want to record *what* you want to record finished happening.
Great video! I plan to upgrade from my DJI Osmo Action. My main concern is mounting the Insta360 X3 and the more warped footage, compared to an action camera. I feel like you kinda always have to hold the X3 in one hand somehow. But I have to admit that the possibilities are almost endless with it.
Thanks! Yes, the footage tends to be a bit more warped due to the super wide angle lenses, but there are some lens presets that compensate pretty well for that. Mounting the camera is no problem, but keeping the lenses protected is definitely more of a concern compared to a traditional action camera. Still, like you said, the possibilities are endless!

I just got the x4 but I believe a lot of the info you gave will transfer. Really good job with the no-nonsense, straight-facts, no-fluff overview! I thought a lot of the icons and features would be self-explanatory but with a 360 cam there are features (like key-framing and microphone direction) are quite "new" to me. Thanks for this! why would the computer editor have less ability than the app but better quality.. surly as its run on a computer it should have the same as the app and the better quality :/

Thanks for this great tutorial - question - I just got the x4 took a quick video. Edited the video using AI on Iphone 15 PRO with the insta360 app. Now, I am trying to export it. It says no content found or fails if I try sending to social media. I am new to this and this is first video and use of insta 360
Interesting. It's possible that the camera was disconnected or turned off during editing. If you are editing from the camera's microSD card without downloading, the camera must be connected.
Great video. Quick question. If I’m filming in single lens mode am I still getting a really wide 180 video or close to 180? And can I then when editing sort of chose which parts are to be shown. Sorry I don’t know the proper jargon, hoping you know what I mean. Also I’m used to a GoPro. I know ideally I’d have both but I really just want one only, is this a good camera to cover all bases? Vlogging, POV and a little action. Many thanks
Don't know that much about SD-cards i see 😆 why ONLY v30... say "get a minimum of V30 (higher number is beter)", sins that's only the maximum writing speed. The number stands for MB/S. So v30 = 30mb/s, v60 = 60mb/s and v90 = 90mb/s. And if you are using the same card for 8k filming in other cameras you need atleast v60.

I was using the Muvi pack with the Insta360 114cm Invisible Selfie Stick. But, Insta360 makes a waist harness and also a backpack mount that would work well.

The dead giveaway that an invisible selfie stick is being used is the free arm swinging while the arm holding the camera is hanging limp. Looks very odd. I have been trying to limit the movement of my free arm to match the other arm and the video looks much more natural.
Nice tip- especially for running. That must be tricky to make it look natural.
I am picky and I often focus on the same, and the shadow is always there. That said, I think if I evolve with the times, viewers accept more now the things they are aware of - speaking of YT here, and I can critique for my own satisfaction but work with the flexibility of the masses 🙂

I could of course reset it and lose all my work to get the original back, but there must be a better way. Please help!

My X3 failed less than a year in with light infrequent use. Screen will not function or turn on. Still under warranty period but having to send this back to China for further assessment and I get to cover the expense of the repairs and shipping. Don't do it. Don't believe the hype. Buy anything else...
