Mad how much work actually has to go in to a project like this. Didn’t realise there was so many things I didn’t know about. Massive respect to people who take up projects like this
"Yeah, the engine and trans is in, we're pretty much done! Now we only have to do plumbing, wiring, driveshafts, exhaust, patch up the firewall and transtunnel......."
Good shit. Been waiting for a new episode. Btw when you install vanjen clamps you need to space the flanges 1/8” during your mock up and fabrication so you retain your range of motion and dont bottom them out 👍
I'm so impressed with the amount of fabrication that they have done (dunno about this video but the first few are amazing.) I'm way impressed with their build so far, a lot more than i imagined gets stripped and fab'd
this is my favorite series on youtube (besides the mx5 project by the hoonigans) :D i patiently wait for the upload every week. thanks for making it so detailed! feels like i'm learning a lot from these videos
Falken Tire #777 Corvette C6. That sounds amazing. Reminds me of the good ole’ days of FD where you’d have Big Dodge Chargers going up against Tiny Pontiac Solstices/Saturn Skys. Before Aasabo’s Corolla, FD was lacking in variety and uniqueness.
I noticed the ball valve to drain the oil sump-tank overflow...Vibrations and gravity could cause the handle to rotate downwards and open that valve, which would squirt oil out right in front of the tire. I think you should switch the orientation of the handle so it points upwards when opened.
While I agree, I assume he did it that way because that's how most plumber's are taught in the US. I was told they usually make the handle point to flow direction so anyone just looking at it knows how to operate it. I'd probably just zip tie it closed if it worried me.
Hey your Overflow for the Dry Sump, I would put a cotter pin in the handle of that ball valve so that the handle doesn't shake open from vibration. Be bad for that guy to open and oil up your rear tire while mid-drift.
Or just use a Fumoto oil drain valve. I'm a diesel mechanic and we use these a lot on smaller machines with crowded engine compartments. There is no way the Fumoto valve can open unless the springloaded handle is depressed and turned in one motion.
Do the fasteners that screw into the rivnuts need a loctite or a specific torque to keep them from vibrating loose? Just curious if that fuel pump mount would have any issues. This series is awesome, and thank you for bringing us into your world!
When I win my local lottery I will be contacting you ;) You are a amazing fabricator, I worked in body shop mechanic shops but quit because of the amount of butchers in the field.. A+ you and your co worker
That last grinding on the inter cooler when cleaning up the hole for the intake scares me I feel like little tiny pieces of metal from the grinder would definitely fall in no matter which way the wheel rotates on that one ?? Right or not you took the precaution before why not then ?
You can have a complete car audio system including subwoofers in the Corvette with that Mechman alternator and drift in style. Let the hotboi enter you and maybe Orion from Haggard Garage will notice you and ask if you want to join team Haggard. Nothing better than sarcasm.
turbolq4, if it shifts and it's rear wheel drive it drifts. Mad mike drifts a little MX-5 in formula drift, that's more unique than a corvette in my opinion
MostlyIrishCarGuy watch the other Field Day build videos, he replaces a majority of the structure with welded steel. And exterior panels are almost always exclusively fiberglass in FD, for ease of replacement. Since the chassis is tubbed and built, the bumpers and fenders and such are mostly for cosmetics and aero.
MostlyIrishCarGuy, it's got plenty of structure added on, bumpers and other exterior parts are easy to replace. I think it's guna be a really unique car for 2018 championship.
If you “car guys/gals” are asking yourself why matt said supercharger instead of turbocharger, thats because he has a Centrifugal Supercharger, they look like turbos.
Not really though. A turbo gets it's name from the exhaust side, the turbine. This is just the compressor part mounted on a small gearbox instead of a turbine. It's a belt-driven compressor, a cenrifugal supercharger.
My dad taught me a bunch growing up, and then I kind of just learned as I went. Never went to any type of fabrication or auto school. Still learning every day
fastest build ive ever seen on youtube... cant wait to see it finished
Tj_Cuntflaps also cause they aren't haggard
Mad how much work actually has to go in to a project like this. Didn’t realise there was so many things I didn’t know about. Massive respect to people who take up projects like this
Big stuff is always easy, its the details that take forever.
"Yeah, the engine and trans is in, we're pretty much done! Now we only have to do plumbing, wiring, driveshafts, exhaust, patch up the firewall and transtunnel......."
This is one of the few builds that don’t get boring. Keep it up
Matt is really rippin it! Both in building and being a yt star. Lovin it!
Also the quality and craftsmanship of the parts is so awesome. Some of them are beautifully made.
I love not only what you guys are doing, but how you're doing it. I dream of building cars again.
Didn't understand a SINGLE FUCK but still was entertaining. That's pretty hard to do.
hard to YOU
FrogLungs that’s what he said, idiot
that's what i said, moron
FrogLungs then why was it necessary to state what has already been stated?
who are you, the necessary police? I said what I said cause I wanted to. get off my dick.
Good shit. Been waiting for a new episode. Btw when you install vanjen clamps you need to space the flanges 1/8” during your mock up and fabrication so you retain your range of motion and dont bottom them out 👍
So cool to finally see a proper build that is comprehensive, informational, and weekly!
This must cost a fortune though
thank you very much! And yes, it is an expensive build, gotta pay to play!
I'm so impressed with the amount of fabrication that they have done (dunno about this video but the first few are amazing.) I'm way impressed with their build so far, a lot more than i imagined gets stripped and fab'd
love this series. I've been watching this instead of doing class work
this is my favorite series on youtube (besides the mx5 project by the hoonigans) :D i patiently wait for the upload every week.
thanks for making it so detailed! feels like i'm learning a lot from these videos
Honestly this has been such a cool build go see come together. Not many places you can go to just watch someone build a badass drift car lol
Absolutely love this series! Enjoyable and helpful for beginner welders and for guys withs project cars! Keep it up

Now everything is LS swapped
You guys always make Tuesday better ! Love the build.
This series is FUCKING AWESOME. It makes me want to check out the build in person, which I most certainly will in FD New Jersey. Keep on rollin!
This build videos are AWS but a camera gimbal would be a great add.
So glad ur back, missed you so much.
Heck yea! Been waiting for the next episode. Love the vids, donut. Keep em comin!

Great video, I did not get bored once! Jokes aside this was a great built to watch.
Looks sick Matt, look forward to seeing it in ATL this year.
thank you! see you there!
Sick Build! Love it!
Love this series! Keep it up
This series is interesting as hell!
Thanks for this series.

I would hope the guy who is tasked with opening this valve doesn't get too confused.
Out of everything that is going to be done to this car, the suspension and steering angle is what I'm really wanting to see.
you and me both!
Matt Field is PBM helping create the angle kit or will it be a completely custom job?
Cant wait to see it run
Great episode !
Next build I want to see you to try deal with the new LT Series V8 engines from the C7 Corvette.
Seen plenty of LS builds, time for the LT's Turn.
C8 will be my next build!
Hey your Overflow for the Dry Sump, I would put a cotter pin in the handle of that ball valve so that the handle doesn't shake open from vibration. Be bad for that guy to open and oil up your rear tire while mid-drift.
good point! the ball valve is pretty strong, for now at least! haha
that sounds like the kind of idea a man comes up with from experience, i like it
Or just use a Fumoto oil drain valve. I'm a diesel mechanic and we use these a lot on smaller machines with crowded engine compartments. There is no way the Fumoto valve can open unless the springloaded handle is depressed and turned in one motion.

You do need to check them from time to time. But they have honestly alway held very well without needing to retighten them
Great video guys!
thank you!
No, THANK YOU!!!
you guys made my day 😁
When I win my local lottery I will be contacting you ;) You are a amazing fabricator, I worked in body shop mechanic shops but quit because of the amount of butchers in the field.. A+ you and your co worker
I hope that happens for the both of us! ahaha
Corvette in FD= awesome
I remember when Vibrant started lol WoW they came a long ways
Am I the only one who likes the c6 corvette the most
Millen Rogers Yes
No
samezies
I would go c7,c6,c2
That last grinding on the inter cooler when cleaning up the hole for the intake scares me I feel like little tiny pieces of metal from the grinder would definitely fall in no matter which way the wheel rotates on that one ?? Right or not you took the precaution before why not then ?
yea its just aluminum though, sall good. NOM NOM NOM
Matt Field hmm Dope!!
You can have a complete car audio system including subwoofers in the Corvette with that Mechman alternator and drift in style. Let the hotboi enter you and maybe Orion from Haggard Garage will notice you and ask if you want to join team Haggard.
Nothing better than sarcasm.
wackomanx interiors and stereos are banned in formula drift
hahaha sounds like a plan!
So sad we won't see him and da boiii in canada this year....
yeah those hd clamps are 160 each.......
im good
only need 4 though!
Why would you need a dump valve (BOV) on a belt driven compressor ? Artistic impression or cool sounds
Where i can buy that socket adapter that allows you to use taps on the ratchet spanner??
online forsure! Amazon, but I just use a 12pt socket ahha
how come my metric 12pt sockets never fit though? Maybe imperial does fit
Can you do a Everything you need to know about Toyota RAV4.
Dino M nice joke
Dalton Bedore I knoww its not a fast car but im interested in its history.

SICK
Do a *TOP 10 Greatest rivals in history of motorsports*
Like Juan Pablo Montoya vs Schumacher
10/10 would watch Matt field juul at winter jam again
all day!
To remove glue in a much easier way; heat it up until it gets sticky and then you just need to scrap it off ;)
not this glue...
correct me if i'm wrong but isnt that a turbo in the car not a supercharger?
Its a type of supercharger called a centrifugal.
Randy illiminate boys has came here 😀
Good to go.
How do i minimize turbo lag on a diesel? It isnt possible to antilag because diesel
you can go with the expensive solution : Use nitrous to spool turbos on low rpms.
i say it's expensive because nitrous failure rate is high with diesels.
Ignas V it is possible
Get a smaller turbo.
Porting your head might work too
This is a cool build but why would you choose a Vette for drifting?
turbolq4, if it shifts and it's rear wheel drive it drifts. Mad mike drifts a little MX-5 in formula drift, that's more unique than a corvette in my opinion
Rodger Johanasberg yeah but the corvette is fiberglass, any considerable wall tap and the body is screwed
MostlyIrishCarGuy watch the other Field Day build videos, he replaces a majority of the structure with welded steel.

because more better
curious to know what size alternator pulley that is.
We’re there videos for the last two weeks or no because of the holidays?
correct
surprised you dont have a build board to share with us where you can cross off whats done and let us see whats left to do...
EVERYTHING is left to do ahahha
I get that... much success to you this year !
Is the oil catch can really necessary? I fell like it’s a sponsored part that he’s trying to make fit .
Nick Cooper yes. oil catch cans will will catch some stuff you don’t want to get into your engine.. and i’m sure it was a sponsored part...
couldnt be more wrong. I paid for the dry sump system, and it came with the catch can, which is necessary.
Matt Field cool
New game:
Take a shot every time he says intercooler piping....
3:01 I am... way too high for that face hanging on the wall. oh man.
Great work, Matt and Ty! Gotta swing by sometime when I'm not wrenching on the Rx7 or at CarBar fuckin' around and see what's up. :D
yea man!
Staying up to date with "Sn0Bx7"? :P This car is going to be NASTY!
1:57 he says it's a supercharger but it looks like a turbo charger
Its a supercharger, yes they look the same but centrifugal supercharger look like turbos, yes i know this comment is 2 years old
If you “car guys/gals” are asking yourself why matt said supercharger instead of turbocharger, thats because he has a Centrifugal Supercharger, they look like turbos.
Did I watch you weld a steel tube to aluminum?
im pretty positive, no
What shifter was that?
4playCorvette HGK for a Samsonas sequential gearbox
yee!
Drive shaft looks like a javelin
dont, try and throw it
Matt Field dont get it..
Tha_Monsta88 muscle cars man... I just won’t ever understand hahaha
up to speed for the corvette pls!!
OMG POST MALONE 3:07
#STAYSHITTY
hes the jam!
Is the title a Blink-182 reference?
why do you need a bypass valve ?
so the boost doesnt slam into the throttle body and bend it in half
thank you
#ShakeCam2k18
yea I know, I can build cars, drive cars, but I suck at cameras hahaha
It's good though 😂😂😂
a lot nicer than my gmc
How long until dean Kearny DESTROYS that dry sump
long beach. that turd
Why does this guy remind me of Jesse from fast and furious
Point of order about the title: a drift car and a race car are two different things
Drifting is a form of racing, i know this comment is 2 years old
that....is a big turbo
Aaron Anderson 'tis a supercharger
It’s a supercharger.
It's a centrifugal supercharger mate. Pretty much a belt driven turbo, cool concept
Not really though. A turbo gets it's name from the exhaust side, the turbine. This is just the compressor part mounted on a small gearbox instead of a turbine.
It's a belt-driven compressor, a cenrifugal supercharger.

Matty “rib nut” field
Why is the audio so muffed up
itll be fixed!
omg
supercharged and turbo?????
Isaac Mifsud it’s a centripetal supercharger it is belt fed just looks like a turbo
I thought this was a Blink182 reference
What type of schooling do you need to learn your magic? In the proses of a life change....
My dad taught me a bunch growing up, and then I kind of just learned as I went. Never went to any type of fabrication or auto school. Still learning every day
up to speed a Mercedes 280 t or te
This is cool and all but you literally said that this is about a racecar but it's really a drift car.
I dont know anything about cars. Still fun to watch though
that is good to hear!
those camera angles thou....
im getting better at them... haha
super charger ???
Yes
centripetal supercharger belt fed it works better than a regular turbo because it has no lag
Love these videos Matt! #StayShitty
