People keeps on comparing Yuzuru and Nathan, yet they forget to consider certain aspects; the age gap for example. Nathan is in his prime while Yuzuru is at the edge of his retirement. It just pains me to see how people looks down on Yuzu because he's been beaten by Nathan. May I remind you that when Yuzu's as young as Nathan, he's dominating. Not to mention the major accident he had in China. I admit Nathan is a very excellent figure skater, but he's not much different from all of those skaters in history. Yuzuru? He's an artist, a "poet on ice" as they say. He's not only skating for scores and world records, and fame. He's doing it, intentionally or unintentionally, for art. Nathan can win all the golds that he can, but he will never be able to achieve what Yuzu have achieved. He did won the World's for 3 consecutive times, but can he make the rink flood with gifts and adorations? I doubt that. Only my Yuzuru can. And he has nothing to prove already. He may not be the best in the world, but no one can refute this undebatable fact: YUZURU IS ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGURE SKATERS IN HISTORY.

Well said. Don't compare both of them. I just knew about Yuzuru Hanyu several months ago. He is the greatest person I have known. Because of this fact, I keep looking for anything about him and make me admire him more. Actually I don't really like figure skating, especially the man figure skating. I feel that they skate like robots, make me bored easily. Because of comparison between YH n NC, I tried to find more and watch more about NC.
Maybe he is good at quads or jumping, but sorry to say, I don't enjoy about NC performance, lack of something. Maybe if YH retired, I will stop watching figure skating too.
You can say that again. Some people may misunderstood you because of the language. But I agree that the comparison wasn't apple to apple. The age, background, physical condition, etc are so different. Nathan is younger, comes from wealthy (well sufficed) family who can provide him while Yuzuru not, and blessed with perfect health while Yuzu has physical handicap. But that makes me vote Yuzu as number one, despite all those disadvantages he has.
But some fanyus also need to have common sense, otherwise they just put more unnecessary burden on Yuzu's shoulder with their own expectation on him. Just give Yuzu some space to grow up and be himself and do what he needs to do, not what the fans want him to do. I see some more mature fanyus have done that.
Well said! If wasn't for the injury Yusuru suffered, we could be hearing a different story. Yusuru is incomparable!
Well Nathan even at his prime could never beat Yuzu if he was fairly scored. Age has nothing to do with your statement. Nathan was overly scored in most of his performance and im sure he was too aware of that. Yuzu is at his whole different level that no one at this moment could ever be able to compare with him
I feel lucky that I was able to "discover" him before he retires. But I feel sad that it will not be long until he stops competing. He is one of the very rare skaters who has the power to move hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Probably the first and only. He can be beaten but his place will never be filled.

I feel the same thing! Sometimes I just get sad thinking of how much time I've "lost" and that he'll probably retire "soon" (but I hope not that soon), but I'm grateful for being able to know him, even if just now. He's one of the most amazing person in this world, so... Better now than never, right?

I also feel this feeling as fs is not a sport that can be played for long. But I believe Yuzuru won’t retire anytime soon as long as he can manage to play, he will. I just feel that he isn’t the man to leave just because he isn’t on top anymore. He will always has the fire in him. But if I’m mistaken, I know he will still skate for himself as it is his happiness. And anything that will put a smile on his face will always put a smile on my face.
@@tinhari that’s completely true. We don’t know what will happen after Olympics but he’ll just really stop if his body tells him to do so. He loves to skate, I don’t think anything can make him stop it, I believe I’m his love for skating.

I love him ❤️. He is the reason i am watching figure skating again after almost 20 years. He is charismatic, extremely talented and so hard worker, totally committed to this sport. Full respect for this living legend.

Yuzuru is the greatest ever. He was underscored so many times and that was a big shame ! But why that happened? He had the power of media and fans. He became a superstar. No one had ever been. He became all that due to his immense talent, never seen before. His skating fascinated the audience and full the stadium. His skating was a miracle: perfect jumps, perfect steps, perfect elements, perfect technic performance and perfect music interpretation. Pure and absolute Art on ice. Too difficult for anybody, but the right element for him. The real figure skate. People were coming to see him. Too much power and ISU started to underscore him. But they failed. Yuzuru is the God of Ice and now he is the only skater that can full Tokyo Dome by himself. ISU can hang now! You cannot treat in such ignoble way a GENIUS.

I have been a fan of skating since I was 12. NOW, I am 82, and watching yuzuru skate is so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. I feel so fortunate to have lived to see him, he is the skater of my lifetime.

Я слушала мнение экспертов, что этот прыжок не даст ему много баллов, его вообще пока не знают, как оценивать. Если бы прыгнув, он гарантировал себе победу, это стоит того. Он тратит много сил на этот прыжок, боюсь, что это ему может помешать. Это его выбор, его мечта. Думаю, он хочет исполнить его для себя, для зрителей в первую очередь.
@@irynai5078 я слушала он сказал, что он верит ,что его можно выполнить, ...и не важно кто первый его сделает, Юзуро сказал, что будет счастлив.... Это как вызов. Все говорят что невозможно. А он верит, что есть какой то секрет, и это булет не совсем аксель....
Как по мне, так пусть катается всю жизнь без этого акселя и будет здоров.... так хочу этому ребенку здоровья. Как по мне, равных ему нет. Так никто не катается.

Мне очень нравится его красивый прыжок в 1 оборот, высокий, летящий в показательных выступлениях. Дай бог ему здоровья и исполнения своей мечты! А мы, его фанаты, будем любоваться его катанием.
@@irynai5078 я говорю о всех травмах, что он пережил. Найдите видео.... если б не травмы....были турниры, когда просто выйти на лед для него было подвигом. А он еще и выступал. Потому что 90% зала пришли на Юзуро.... если б не травмы, у этого ангела было б больше побед.
По сути он не превзойден. Технически может , сейчас новая система оценивания...но так как катается Ханю не катается никто.
И он как то говорил, я хочу так кататься, как не катаеться никто. И я люблю выступать. ...

There may be better ones, but they can never be you. That Aura you radiate is from no one else. It is impossible for us to get that feeling that we get while watching you. From time to time, it pains me to see him lose the 2022 Olympics even after coming to terms that life is a box full of losses and wins. However, this loss hurts more becuase it was his last competition. But I am glad to see that he didn't give up and continued to push for his goal.

Know nothing about figure skating and just discovered this legend through twitter. I watched a clip of him skating and I just fell in love. I remember saying that I have never seen something so beautiful, graceful, and powerful at the same time, that I want to see with my own eyes! Not to mention his personality and attitude, on and off ice. No wonder we all love him, he himself is gold!!!!
