I love how the lamp in the "Pixar" intro literally *murders* the "i" and then just stares at you like "you're next"
Wendy LOL 😂 I never noticed that before
welp now I have something to point out
I never even thought of it like that XD
OML I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT THAT
Childhood ruined in 3...2..1.
I just love how a beloved children's film starts with attempted suicide and law suits
Same
Pixar’s like that
It make you question my childhood I'm practically raised on pixar and Disney
They also showed dead rats in ratatouille
That movie is very adult overall. They use very smart language and the movie isn't afraid to lose its younger audience members. I loved the movie for this when I was a kid
MatPat's true super power is researching and being smart. Who needs super strength when you can blow people's minds away with unseen cannibalism?!
If you don’t know, it is from his Wally’s cannibalism theory
@@dollydash7361 I do know that it's from "his Wally's cannibalism theory"
Yeah, he's a great researcher. That's why he didn't know that Peng Yu _admitted_ to pushing Xu Shaolan, an elderly woman, down as he was getting off a bus and causing her broken femur and that's the reason that Xu won the case.
Being smart isn't a superpower. Matt's smart because he actually invests his time in researching, something we can and should all do but don't. So people who do research look like geniuses and the rest of us, like sheep, listen to them and don't bother with it ourselves.
I literally heard “can you sue supers out of existance“ and thought:
*KAREN??*
One winged Karen/kevin
@Angello Rivera-Hurtado People do that, presumably because they believe (correctly or not) that the injury was caused by the Dentist or MD making a mistake
LET ME SPEAK TO THE MANAGER
Matpat: you can SUE the government

Sounds apptopiate for this time
And now you're on a watchlist. Congratulations.

People can get sued for assisting a death even if it was wanted. For example, I heard there was this guy who would teach people methods to suicide and in return, he'd get to film the suicide. It was technically legal cause he didn't directly assist in the suicide. But once it was a method involving a car but the car needed to start up first, so the filming guy started up the car. Bad move. That's when he crossed the illegal line and I think he's in prison now.
So yes, Mr Incredible would actually get sued for helping the guy suicide if he were to do it like that.
the court nope
The most scarring part of this whole thing to me is the fact that Mr. Sansweet's suicide attempt has A SPOTLIGHT WATCHING HIM!!!! WHY ON GODS GREAT EARTH WOULD ANYONE DO THAT
They were surely trying to talk him down.
It was night of course, so they also illuminated him so they could actually see him. Hence the spotlight.
Better view of entertainment
@@haku8135 but did they really have to follow him on the way down? Bet Mr. Incredible wouldnt have been able to catch the Suicide Guy if MI didn't have an exact read on where SG was on the way down
Yeah, and it follows him as he falls too, it isnt some sort accident, its intentional.
Last year, I was suffering from heat exhaustion in a McDonald’s. I was throwing up in the trash can and verbally crying for help. Out of everyone in that crowded and busy restaurant, only one person did anything. Other people stared, but nobody other than that one person so much as asked if I was ok. That person was an employee that stepped away from her position and called me an ambulance. One moment I was terrified, throwing up, in a cold sweat, and begging for anyone to help me and the next thing I knew, the good employee was rubbing my back and a few paramedics were asking me questions about what could have caused my current state. Either the other witnesses thought that they’d get in trouble for helping me or they just didn’t care. If that employee hadn’t done anything, I likely would’ve tried to walk home since that’s how I got there in the first place. Since what I had would’ve lead to a heat stroke if I hadn’t cooled off and walking home would’ve meant walking a couple of blocks in the Arizona summer heat, I probably wouldn’t have made it home. That one employee, the only one that lifted a finger to help me, saved my life. I told her manager what she did so that he knew that, though she did walk away from her position during a very busy dinner rush, she did so to help someone and, in the end, save someone’s life.
So nice of her.
@@kyaria8888 And this is why fast food employees need to be paid more.
This story is fake, the manager didnt fire her for leaving her workplace
@@farawaygaming_ how strict do you think the manager is? As a matter a fact, she still works there and she is currently one of the managers.
The bystander affect probably took place there too. I'm sorry that happened to you tho, that could definitely have ended badly.
Pat: I'm so impressed what Pixar did with this movies timeline.
Pixar: Ya we totally ment that.
The funny thing is that they might, _might_ mind you, have done it intentionally. Pixar has been known to put excruciating amounts of work into seemingly trivial and unnoticed things, and they've been known to just wing it and land on their feet. It's hard to say which case this falls in.
Quentin Council 十
Yes that is true but you have to know that the Main Creator of The Incredibles is Brad Bird, whom made the Iron Giant, and he has shown quite a few times how much work he puts into stuff like this.
@TheSkullface95
Before someone say something he isn't objectivist as some idiots claim.
It's also worth pointing out that the timeline was also picked out specifically to honor the Golden Age of comics. The years of glory in comic books is super important to this story too, folks!
Mr. Incredible: "I saved your life!"

As a french canadian, who was trained in CPR, we were clearly informed that whenever in the States, we see someone in distress, we're better off not helping, because we may be sued by saved citizen.....
Glad to know some States have an actual intellect and voted for Good Samaritan Law, now if only we knew which States !
In my opinion, you'd have to be a real ponce to sue someone who just saved you from choking to death. That Chinese woman suing that guy for helping her still boggles my mind.
"Hey Google! Which states passed the 'Good Samaritan' law?"
Something i learned in class for when we had to do the Heimlich is ask if we can touch them before doing the procedure bc of that. So yeah learning that was really a bummer bc wth ya know youre choking my dude let me not worry about helping you

Easy money.
All of them. I have a BLS certification and all you have to do is ask for permission to help (even if they're unconscious). If they don't/ can't answer you can help.
The beginning is really interesting, the “people passing by when someone is in danger.” I live in Belgium and I take psychology, a while ago we took lessons about a concept. I’ll start with a news story. A man suddenly had a heart attack in the street, he was alive, but very close to death. 8 (I believe) people past, some even stopping to look. Not one helped. Out teacher gave us an example, if you were alone walking in a park, broad daylight, suddenly you see someone drowning, do you help them? Most people said yes. What if it was a crowded park? People often think: “someone else will.” I know extremely depressing, hella interesting psychology.
isn't that called "bystander apathy"?
Bystandar effect Yes?
Everyone assumes that someone else will help so in the end no-one does.
The main way to prevent it is by pointing fingers at people and start issuing comands
"YOU call the hospital! And you, find a med-kit!"
Hot Pink Frying Pan I believe so yes, I take my lessons in dutch so I don’t know what it would be in english, sorry
This is called the Bystander Effect and has to do with the diffusion of responsibility in emergency situations. The Kitty Genoverse case is a particularly heartbreaking example of this is motion.
1. Valid points,

6:17. Anyone else notice that the entire jury in the background is made up of injured people, presumably people injured as a result of the actions of superheroes? Wouldn’t that give the case against the superheroes in question grounds for dismissal? I mean a trial by jury is supposed to have the jury randomly selected, and I personally find it to be highly suspicious that a randomly selected jury would consist almost entirely of persons injured presumably as a result of the actions of superheroes.
Yep! The 6th amendment protects your right to an impartial jury and if said jury is not impartial then it is unconstitutional.

You have to hate people who literally get saved and brought to medical attention only to sue the guy, just trying to find any way she could to get money out of a situation where she was saved, and they were actually dumb enough to allow her to sue someone who saved her life, and now she’s the reason that people walked by multiple murders out of fear of being SUED, and caused a toddler to die

I'll never understand those weird logics in movies at time. They got saved while trying to commit suicide and then sue the one who saved them. Also, that peng case is a rather curious one. While peng originally won the case against her helper, that got overruled later when appealing as they managed to show evidence how he was just helping her. But honestly, that kind of humans don't deserve help if they just going to sue good people.

Mr. Incredible even references that someone may not have committed suicide in sound mind, with his "Well, with counseling, I think you'll come to forgive me" line
I was just thinking...
that attempted suicide scene *COMPLETELY* flew over my head when i was little
Like I remember thinking why would he not want to be saved? Is it part of his job? Was he a stunt guy? Can he fly?
Never once did my innocent mind think he wanted to badly hurt himself.
I always thought he was a stuntman.....
MagsPie thought he was pushed by the robbers to distract him
I figured out he was trying to kill himself but I couldn't wrap my head around it. It just doesn't make any sense to kid brains
MagsPie I thought it was just coz his neck got broken when I was a kid.
In retrospect its kind of heavy for a kids film. Like, theres literal dead bodies of Bob's old friends later, but a skeleton telling us the bad guy is seriously dangerous is a far cry from potentially introducing the concept of suicide to kids. This is probably meant for older kids instead of younger ones but im willing to bet plenty of parents just saw a pixar movie to plop their kids in front of and then just had to pray that the attempted self harm went over their heads when that scene came out of nowhere 😅

After watching this video, I just thought of something. Did the guy that Mr. Incredible saved jump just so he could sue the government?
1717Dave There was no guarantee he would be saved, so no
I don't see how. What I do see is some hotshot lawyer taking advantage of the legal situation at the time in order to do something truly earth-shattering. What lawyer DOESN'T want to be on the front page?
Of all the buildings he jumped off of, it was one DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF Mr. Incredible. HMMMMM
What I wanna know is this: the building the guy jumped off of was apparently a bank. Mr. Incredible tackled him into about the middle-ish floor of a pretty tall building and then we see the vault on that floor blow open. My question is: WHO THE HELL PUTS THEIR MONEY VAULT ON THE FIFTEENTH FLOOR?!?!

I want Matt to become my lawyer one day.
He is DEFINITELY able to be a lawyer...
@@insertusernamehere8324 no he isn't. Smh
@B oh please, like you’ve researched laws more than this person has. He not only knows laws, but also knows when they were invented...
@@insertusernamehere8324 he researched just for this particular episode. That isn't hard at all. I'm not a lawyer but I write law articles, written over 300. You just gotta do the research. It's all public access. Google and Wikipedia makes it easy to track down each memo, court decision, and so on.
But being a good lawyer is more than that. The law is open to interpretation and explanation. You need to be properly trained, ie go to law school and pass the bar.
Ex. The good Samaritan defence he uses in the video won't actually work if you kidnapped someone because you claim you wanna save them. You can't cause a lot of damage and claim good Samaritan defense. A good lawyer will null that in no time. (Even doctors can be rightfully sued if they prescribe the wrong drugs, just because they wanted to heal or save doesn't exclude them from the law.) You can't cause reckless endangerment and claim the good Samaritan law.
Also, suing the state or government and winning isn't expensive nor is it difficult. People do it all the time and win especially when it comes to personal injury. If the state is at fault because of faulty construction, etc. They can be held liable and if you're in the right, you'll win the case and be compensated for whatever injury you sustain. I wrote an article on such a court case about 10 years ago. I will look for it and post the link as an edit soon. I need to look for it. I don't have the fact off head.
Edit: www.arnolditkin.com/personal-injury-blog/2019/april/can-cyclists-sue-cities-for-poor-road-conditions/
In this article (not my article), a man sued Los Angeles city council (and therefore the state and government) for injury caused by bad road which lead to his accident and injuries. He was awarded $6.5 million.
B While I agree, this is the internet.
Ever since I first watched The Incredibles, for years I’ve always wondered why Mr. Incredible even got sued for saving someone from a suicide attempt or saved hundreds of people of getting killed from a train accident in the first place, it just made no sense but I think after watching this video brought some light onto something that has bothered me for years and shows that Pixar definitely does do their research.
However there’s still one thing that still bothers me, what if Mr. Incredible didn’t choose to save the person that was going to commit suicide and didn’t choose to saved the hundreds of people on the train? Would he get in a lot of trouble for not saving them when he was at the perfect moment to do so since protecting civilians is basically one of the main jobs of being a Superhero and in turn would the public decide to turn against the Superheroes since those acts would tell the public that Superheroes no longer care for the public anymore and not doing the one job that they were meant to do and would the events of The Incredibles still happen where they all had to go into hiding and live normal lives?
Yeah i mean hes supposed to be like: oh people are going to die i should help... Nvm lawsuit im out
StickMaster500 That's a good theory. Yeah, Mr. Incredible could have done that, and the events of the first film can still happen as the person committing suicide could cause a bad PR incident for the Supers, with the news accusing them of not saving them.
Third comment xD! Great theory, and I need to know what will happen!
StickMaster500 I mean the people got hurt when he saved them and the suicide guy didnt want to be saved it's that simple

On a good side note, it would have been a good point to interject that there are Vigilante laws. Stopping the Average citizen from taking the law into their own hands, with pridy powerful punishments for those caught as a Vigilante. The only Legal vigilante's would have to be a Government program.
the real question is why isn't he a lawyer 😂
Cuz being a lawyer is way more boring than this

Has no one noticed A113 in the thumbnail?
Edit 1:Wow I did not expect to get 1.9K likes from that and to be pinned as well.Probably the best comment I’ve ever made :)
Nex Alpha I noticed.
Lol I saw.
What does it mean?
Nex Alpha yeah but I didn’t comment about it
Funny thing is, it doesn’t even mean anything.
I love the mystery men reference. Probably the best superhero spoof yet. Thank you MatPat, as a teenage superhero nerd, you made my day.
That detail about how laws would be by the time the Incredibles flashback took place is still a great detail and another reason why this movie is so good.
If you ask me, that 1 guy who first sued Mr. Incredible is the reason all the other supers got killed by Syndrome. Think about it, if Syndrome used the same "relive the glory days" sob story on everyone they clearly ALL missed doing good hero work and so easily manipulated resulting in them getting killed.
that’s the point of the movie. no “think about it” necessary. that was literally the plot lmao
In any regard, I hope that guy IS dead now cause the blood of like 20 people are on his hands.
@Actionfan19 , true. You know, when I first saw the Incredibles 2 trailer, I thought he was gonna be the Screenslaver. I was disappointed in that regard, but worst is that he never got retribution for that one act that indirectly ruined their lives. I hope he steps on a lego, or maybe a thousand, for the rest of his mortal life..
Where's my super suit?
Why you bully me
Justin Y. You are going to get a lot of hate in moments, but I always think you are amazing.
You are the ultimate commenter I swear.

As always very entertaining!
Has anyone noticed that the film theorists intro wasn't played.
Who didn't,and first of all he technically did, it just not the original one, more a comedic intro for this specific video, for it being from pixar
I guess you're right.
Daslimecake me
Daslimecake I noticed
Wow...That felt really short. Like, shortest episode ever, short.
William Wright actually his shortest vid is the beauty and the beast theory
like an Asian dick short?
TryhardFTW Average person in china has a dick around 3-4 inches. everywhere else in Asia has a average of 4-6. Which is the average American, Mexican, and British length. Only China has a small dick, sorry.
I always hate the trope of trying to punish superheroes for their actions. It breaks the genre and isn’t even realistic as any form of Good Samaritan law would protect them
My therapist: PixarMatthew isnt real he cant hurt you

In I’ll be back he sounds like a creepy stalker
Something interesting is that according to people who survived attempted suicides at the Golden Gate Bridge, they immediately regretted their jump the second they began falling. But Sansweet of course didn't ask or want to be saved. Honestly, if his injures were so severe from his failed suicide attempt, he would honestly just try again behind Mr. Incredible's back. And if I were Sansweet, I wouldn't sue Mr. Incredible. I would seek some mental help and undergo rehabilitation to recover from the near fatal incident.
One could say that timing....
*is incredible*
Love how smart and in depth Pixar movies are they have lots behind the scenes that is just baffling why they would put it in their but at least if makes for some good Theory's and discussions that actually have knowledge in them.
This was not only extremely well put together, but the brilliance you continue to showcase in each thoery video is mindblowing. Comedy, wit, and suspense are the 3 biggest features that drive your videos. Editing, voice acting (yes, enthusiastic voice acting, very well done) and visuals are the not so acknowledged traits that tie everything together. It's not only entertaining to watch, but inspiring to listen to.
Mr. Pat, I really want to drive home how impressed I am at your overall ability to perform. That's what this is, a performance. And if there's anyone who deserves gratification most, it's you! It sounds cheesy, but there's a line from an iconic movie (guess if you can) that states "You once spoke to me about intelligence. That it was a gift to be used for the good of mankind." That theme is constantly reaffirmed in each of your videos.
You manage to inspire without going over the top, and I quite honestly can't describe how it makes me feel. Or how you achieve it, or if you even know/set out to specifically invoke it in others. Thank you for all the great work, and I look forward to the many future projects you pursue!
Wow... Props to you too.
Dude that car crash noise scared the heck out of me
3:45 she was probably Karen.
