Hi Luke, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but the timing of this podcast couldn’t be more perfect. I was born with a speech impediment (a stammer) and have always struggled to speak. In 2017, I moved to England without knowing any English at all. Due to my condition and being an extremely introverted person, I didn’t attend an English academy to learn the language-I was afraid people wouldn’t understand me, as has often been the case. Instead, I taught myself English through your videos, films, and series. I’ve mimicked everything you say in your videos, repeating it aloud, and I’ve watched nearly every one of them. I also love books, and reading aloud every day has helped me immensely in my learning. English is my third language, and I can’t thank you enough for your work. God bless you! P.S. Your teaching style is amazing-less grammar rules and more natural conversation. I love it! Jajaja.
I am an Indian living in Kerala State, India. English is my third language. Your teaching is excellent. I learn English through your lessons. Unlike other English speakers, you speak legibly and I can understand your speech well. Thanks Thomas V. A.
As a speech therapist, I was very curious to see how this episode would deal with the stuttering issue. And I am impressed. Good educational work! The episode really shows what it is like to live with dysfluency and does away with prejudices and misdiagnoses. The belief that stuttering is psychological is unfortunately still widespread. But listening to the end was difficult because I lacked a hopeful outlook. There are helpful and evaluated therapies and people who stammer don't have to miss out on fulfilling careers. Nevertheless it was an interesting episode!
I'm an English professor from the United States, and recently I decided to start my own channel to teach English with video games. Since I started, I've been watching other RUclipsrs that teach English (even if the video is taught in a language I don't understand), and I just wanted to say that your videos are particularly good. All of your videos that I've watched so far have great English lessons in them.
This is an incredible piece of work that I have learned a lot from as a non native English speaker. Thank you Luke! I love your teaching style, and you are a great teacher.
Thank you, Luke! Your videos are very helpful and I appreciate that. This episode resonates with me even though I don’t have a speech impediment, I struggle with a natural condition that affects my social well-being. Thanks for developing a great piece like this!
Luke!! A wonder man!! I discovered you in RUclips a few days ago. I watch 4/5 videos of you in this time. The most mesmerizing thing to me in you is your teaching style, your teaching capacity, quality. I also wanted to be a teacher like you in my younger ages😅.but later on i tried to be a doctor and failed in admission test and finished my academic session as an agriculturist😂. And now i am a house wife and raising up my three kids. And i am mid thirties now and still i cherish a dream to do something for myself 😊. But don't know what to do and how to do 😢.
Thanks a lot Luke for this new episode, it's rather difficult to talk about subjects like disfluencies, but you did it great ! With not only a great kindness but also respect, as you always do, and giving explanations that help us to understand better stammering issue. Thanks again and take care. Good day, evening everyone 🤗✨
Thank you so much for a very sensitive subject you chose for the video. I personally know a couple of people having this impediment and you know what? When they start singing they stop stammering.
Hello Luke! A big thanks to you! I’m originally from Azerbaijan and have been living in Finland for about 7 years. My English isn’t very good, but I need it for my studies and work. The big problem is that I never learned English during my school years. But just a few weeks ago, I found your channel, and now I understand English better through your short stories and comments. Thanks a lot!
Wowww. This episode has been the best. Not only for the story but also for the way you react at each time you have to choose among those difficult options. You have a special gift sharing your thoughts and feelings. I could, in a way, easily understand those stressing situations due to my problems at hearing. Conversations are always a great struggle. Thank you for your job. You let me thinking. ❤
Be ready to be surprised ! I speak 3 languages in total daily. My primary language is Bishnuprya Manipuri. National language is Bangla. I stutter in my native languages. I have been learning to speak in English since the covid-19 outbreak. Now I have discovered that I hardly ever stutter in English whereas I do still stutter in my native languages. How is it possible!
Hello Teacher Luke, I am a stutterer and have been listening to your podcast for the past 8 months. First of all, thank you very much for providing this wonderful English education for free. I really enjoy listening to and watching your content, and I appreciate the way you teach. Additionally, I value your sense of humor and the effort you put into teaching not only the language but also the culture and real-life usage. I would be very happy if you could make a video about the effect of stuttering on learning a new language. Take care, and thank you!
Thank you very much for the video! I think that person should've warned people in advance about their stammering speaking on the phone wirh some short phrase. People usually understand this kind of problems. If the clerk at the shop had been warned he would've been more patient and helpful, I'm sure. He just thought the line really cut off that's why he hung up. Actually this video is very helpful to struggle with your nervousness. I feel overnervous having a job interview without any stammering, But that person having this.. is just a hero! The story brought me to tears at times. Luke, you really chose not an easy story. But your way of telling the story, your emotionality makes all of these real and live. Thank you again!
What an emotional and engaging short story. Thanks a lot to you and to the author! By the way, another film on a related topic is Front of the Class -- a heartwarming docudrama which tells about a teacher with Tourette syndrome.
After overthinking my comment on this episode and reading Ally’s response, I feel the need to share an additional thought. In my “professional enthusiasm”, I failed to fully appreciate the author's engagement and Luke’s thoughtful and nuanced introduction to this sensitive topic. What I wanted to say is this: If you are dealing with a stammer, don’t give up on your dreams. Don’t stop looking for a qualified therapist! You can also find a partner and friends who appreciate you, as well as a job that matches your talents. Depending on which country you live in, it may be more difficult to find the right support, but it is possible. You could even become a famous actor, or a pioneer of speech therapy like Van Riper. Maybe not a king like George VI-but who would want that, anyway?
Your thoughtfulness and consideration are so admirable and I fully agree with your message! I want to sincerely thank you for your engagement with the story and video - your words are very inspiring. 😊 I wish you all the best in continuing your work, which was interesting and wonderful to read about!

Hi Luke i hope you in joined your summer with your family in the uk , i have been listing to your incredible podcast for sex months and it really helpful for improving my English ,and i really enjoyed ❤❤❤
Eventhough Lewis Capaldi suffers from the Tourette syndrome, he has become a great singer. I know it's different from the stutter affection you are talking about. I watched a movie about an American young man who became a teacher in spite of the tourette syndrome. His students got used to it. And I have seen several films about autistic people who got jobs. And so on and so forth. They were all based on true events. I hope that if you stammer or stutter, you will have enough self confidence to surpass your affection and become optimistic enough to live a happy life. You sure have many qualities that people love.
Hey Luke sir, I listen to you everyday without looking at the video 😅. I put the phone in my pocket while going and returning back from the library every morning and night
teacher Luke ,I love stories, always learning a lot from your episode, thank you a lot, always I listen to your podcast watch your videos,I feel grateful to you.
Hi Luke, thanks for sharing your great content! I would also love to learn French. You recommended a French podcast to your listeners a while ago, but I don't remember the name. I would really appreciate it if you would mention it again :)
This is really interesting to listen to, and I learned a lot from this video, I like the way you explain those words which is very easy to understand, thank you for making it!!
Very cool, I liked the part where you had to enter your first name. How can readers like me , also find these kinds of texts in the internet. And interact like this, practice English reading 📖. It looked like the story changed when you entered your name or not ? Do you prepare your texts ?
I'm glad that this episode has just been released so that it is likely to reply to this comment. I am compelled to send my gratitude and admiration teacher Luke; you are amazing! Nowadays, I'm listening to you daily. I feel it's easy to understand you. I have a question if you don't mind: Could you just ( to be tactful as you teach😊) guide me to a suitable modern novel by which I would improve my vocabulary and other skills with entertainment? I asked for a modern one because the older works perhaps will make me exert myself , and they are old-fashioned. Thank you again... Bye!
Hi, Luke! Thank you so much for your very informative videos. I have listened to many of them already and continue to do so. You have a very interesting presentation style. I especially enjoy your videos with short stories. Thank you very much. I am really enjoying listening. I would like to suggest a series of short stories called "Dubliners," written by James Joyce, if you're interested. I really like his writing style, and perhaps you would find it interesting too. I would love to hear these stories in your reading along with your explanations. Good luck, Luke. With gratitude from Siberia. Larisa.
how are you? I hope you are doing well.I was waiting for the story version video to come and now the time has arrived. I prepared my self with cup of tea and for the snacks i would prefer the vocabs.
Hi Luke,
I don’t know if you’ll see this, but the timing of this podcast couldn’t be more perfect.
I love it! Jajaja.
😍
wow😍
❤
❤
Have you overcome your stammer?
I am an Indian living in Kerala State, India. English is my third language. Your teaching is excellent. I learn English through your lessons. Unlike
other English speakers, you speak legibly and
I can understand your speech well.
Thanks
Thomas V. A.
Phenomenal! The way you read and explain vocabulary is simply magnificent! Thank you!

Hallo,Luke. The interactive stories you do are the best!🎉🎉🎉

Very cool, I liked the part where you had to enter your first name. How can readers like me , also find these kinds of texts in the internet. And interact like this, practice English reading 📖. It looked like the story changed when you entered your name or not ? Do you prepare your texts ?

I am compelled to send my gratitude and admiration teacher Luke; you are amazing!
Nowadays, I'm listening to you daily. I feel it's easy to understand you. I have a question if you don't mind: Could you just ( to be tactful as you teach😊) guide me to a suitable modern novel by which I would improve my vocabulary and other skills with entertainment? I asked for a modern one because the older works perhaps will make me exert myself , and they are old-fashioned.
Thank you again... Bye!
LEP is the best medicine for your dysfluency. Worth a listen. Communication is real. Let the game begin!
