Constructive criticism: Hello I am learning Japanese and I think this video is very helpful to know the most used verbs but I think it would help if you provided an example sentence for each word. I know how to say them and what they mean but I wouldn’t know how to use them in a sentence. You could add example sentences? Please

Search up the transitivity and non transitivity of verbs
also nouns (chinese nouns mostly, some japanese) can become verbs with suru (this is just ONE function of suru, even though they tie into it's meaning) but WITHOUT the object particle, and if you have an adjective describing it, it won't become a verb without using the object particle, and you cannot have another object particle (o, を, wo) to say you did something to it, you need ni. also suru is much more than do.
(this will make sense if you actually research the particles. some of the words aren't particles btw, not everything is a particle, particles literally have no kanji and don't derive from verbs and they aren't nouns, SO GO DO IN DEPTH RESEARCH (they are jst considered particles because their fnctionswhich are the same as english))
      ok heres examples.
ジュースを飲むことが好き(ですよ)romaji: juusu o nomu koto ga suki english: i like drinking juice
コンビニにただ達すために、何マイルも通りを歩いてきた romaji: konbini ni tada tassu tame ni, nanmairu mo toori o aruita english: I walked the street for miles just to reach the convenience store
ok ima just combine all the verbs into one sentence even if they seem stupid and grammatically incorrect
私は夜中に働き疲れて、泣いてきた I cried, tired from working all night watashi wa yonaka ni hatarakitsukarete naite kita (the 連用形, continuative form of verbs, which is what masu is attached to so remove the masu to get this, is like te, but it can do much more, but idk. usually connected actions like get tired of working (飽きる not 疲れる)like 働き飽きる)
      母親の家の中に住むよ。
宿題を手伝ってくれてありがとうございました - thanks for helping me with my homework romaji - shukudai o tetsudatte kurete arigatou gozaimashita (tetsudau is to lend a hand, unlike tasukeru which is serious help)
生まれて待ったよ!I waited for this since I was born umarete matta yo
仕事を休んできた I took a break from my job shigoto o yasunde kita
しきを覚えてきた - I memorized the formula shiki o oboete kita
それがわかってすぐに、忘れた - as soon as I understood it, I forgot it.sore ga wakatte (wakaru is intransitive)
チョコケーキを選び買って、食べた I chose the chocolate cake to buy and ate it
choko keeki o erabikatte tabeta (not really i couldnt think of a sentence probably grammatically incorrect)
ok im not translatiing this

    When to use each form:
Use the infinitive form (or the dictionary form) if in English, the form has a to before it if you were going to say "to read" in English, you would say "読む" in Japanese
Use the connective form (or the te form) When you want to talk about another verb alongside the original verb. If you wanted to say drink and eat you would say "飲んで と 食べます"
Use the polite form (or the masu form) if you want to talk about one verb and one object. If you wanted to say "I drink water" You would say "私 は 水 を 飲みます"

I want to thank the author of the channel for making this beautiful and useful video for us! Many people are embarrassed to speak a foreign language if they have no speaking skills. People are afraid to hear criticism from others in their address. It all comes from having a psychological complex - to make a mistake. But, after all, he who does nothing is not wrong! In Yuriy Ivantsiv's workshop "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" states that we need to talk as much as possible: with yourself, with the mirror, with inanimate objects, with children and with pets. Find an interlocutor in real life or online. Talk without shyness. People won't care how you speak. They understand that you are a foreigner, as long as they understand you. They may even acknowledge your progress in their language and compliment you. However, always be prepared for criticism of your speaking skills. If you have the will to speak, you will gain an interesting interlocutor to consolidate your knowledge. Everyone is strewn with mistakes - don't be afraid to learn from them. As the Latin wisdom says, "walk and thou shalt not go astray". In the book "Polyglot Notes" by YuriyIvantsiv an entire chapter is devoted to the development of spoken language. Here you will find many useful tips and each student can choose a technique that suits him or her best! I wish you all the best of luck in your language learning!

Thanks very much for putting up these videos on Japanese learning.
I had watched this video and the one with that with 50 Basic Japanese Verbs & Example Phrases. The verbs are in a layout I find them to be much easier to get a hold with the form conjugation than teaching materials by other sources.
There are two issues with them:
    1. Those individual verbs appear in different orders in respective videos. Just wonder if it'd be easier to follow if they're arranged, say, in the hiragana order.
    2. 助ける is in the 50 Basic Japanese Verbs & Example Phrases video but not this; likewise, 手伝う is in this but not 50 Basic Japanese Verbs & Example Phrases.
    Thanks again!

    This is great!
I learned spoken Japanese (via romaji) at a night-school class many years ago.
The kanji characters have always seemed quite difficult and intimidating to me, but now I see that the "ru" (which looks a bit like a "3"), the "ku" which looks like a "less-than" ( < ) and the "masu" ones are not too bad at all! The "ka" reminds me of a pile of books so that too could be learned!
I think I could gradually learn the basics now, thanks to this video!
A suggestion - what would help me (as an English speaker) would be if the common word endings (like the "ru" and "masu") were visually-separated more from the rest of the word. That would be a *big* help as it would make focusing on the rest of the word - the part that differs - easier. Just my "two yen's worth" - keep up the great work! Arigato gozaimasu!

There's a rule for both the masu and the te form from the dictionary form, which is:
      For "masu" form:
Ichidan: remove "ru" and just add the "masu"
Godan: change the "u" to "i" and add "masu"
For te form the rules are:
Ichidan: just remove the "ru" and add the "te"
      Godan:
      If the verbs ends in...
-u, tsu or ru: remove it and little tsu + te
-nu,bu or mu: remove is and add "nde"
-ku: remove it and add "ite"
-gu: remove it and add "ide"
-su: remove it and add "shite"

ます is for being formal towards people like your boss, teacher, etc. which we called polite language 丁寧語 and dictionary/plain form is the informal version of ます
      て form
      ① making a request informally
      Example: drink juice
      ジュース飲んで
② Listing adjectives and verbs, which translates to AND
      Examples:
Kim's hair is long and beautiful
      キムは髪が長くて、奇麗だよ
My dog eat a chicken and sleep
      俺の犬は鶏肉を食べて、寝る
      And much more usages like
      〜てある 〜てほしい

When you notice they are all saying the same thing 😅
      毎日、本を読む。
Every day, I read books. (just plain Japanese)
      毎日、本を読みます。
Every day, I read books. (being polite towards the unknown persons reading my comment)
      毎日、本を読んで、日本語を勉強します。
Every day, I read books and study the Japanese language.

    意外とdictionary form(原形)をつかうことって少ないよね。
    あとte formは命令形(please)でつかえるだけじゃなく後の動詞に繋げるandの役割があることにも気づいて面白かった!

Thank you so much, this was really helpful. Could you make one with nouns adjectives, or adverbs. That would be amazing if you get to it. Anyway, thank you so much for creating this channel. I needed a channel like this so much. An idea I had was you could make a video like this one but focused on words used in your Tanaka Radio, if you feel like it that is.

It is very confusing me , when to use masu form? When to use TE form?
It is more difficult than English’s present, past, future of verbs

    • @sailor_hao
      @sailor_hao 2 года назад +23

te form is for when you want to say more than one verb in a sentence, and masu is formal. There are more uses, but this is the basics of the forms

      ....
te also indicates cause and effect.
masu is the teineigo, or polite form of the dictionary, or the regular form of the verbs
