Linda Narz Hi Linda. Please thank your dad for me for all of his great work over the years. I watched him on Body Language and The Nighttime Price Is Right when I was very young.
Linda Narz I'm thrilled to hear that he saw and enjoyed this video! I'm a big fan of your father. I watched Name That Tune as a little kid, and then Password Plus, Price is Right and Body Language as I grew up. I , along with many other fans, have been able to watch and enjoy his shows thanks in part to GSN, Buzzr and especially RUclips. I speak for a lot of game show fans in adding my appreciation to your father for his many years of work and wish him good health.
Thank you DTB1997. I have forwarded your messages to Dad and he enjoys hearing from his fans! Thanks again for all your time putting together this video.
I never heard of these game shows except "whew!" But when I saw him host password plus, my mind was changed forever. Thank you Tom Kennedy, you made my mind blown.
We have another game show icon Tom Kennedy did while back little way befor Bob Barker just died one day.ago.Tom Kennedy is also was a good icon on the Sydicatated nighttime Price is Right but it only lasted one year-1985-86.
Wow! Or should I say Whew! Appreciate your work here. I just heard he passed. Liked this guy for his cool shades and smooth delivery when I was a kid in the 70’s . Split Second was so cool to me. Whew! Was great just for the opening. Break the Bank, Name that Tune version with him was great too. RIP Tom Kennedy.
I love the videos of all the game shows that Tom Kennedy had hosted over the years what a beautiful loving tribute a true game show legend and that wonderful man was Tom Kennedy he may have left this amazing world but his legacy and smile will never be forgotten............
I loved "Whew!" as a kid. Had no idea what it was called, though. I always seemed to turn it over after the title sequence. Thanks for posting all these great videos. And thank you Tom, RIP.
3:25 That is the pilot for “Split Second.” Once it was picked up, the show went without a model, the set was tweaked, and the theme and cues were changed.
Speaking of Tom Kennedy, God rest his soul, these game shows of his have had home versions that I have had: You Don't Say!, Name That Tune, Password Plus. I have the You Don't Say! and Password Plus home games. I don't have the 1980 electronic Name That Tune game anymore. I'm glad that I no longer have it. It wasn't very good.
There were a bunch of game shows that I recall that Tom Kennedy hosted namely one of my favorites Split Second in fact that squib was from the pilot episode of the show who wouldn’t have wanted to win one of those new Pontiacs
I would like to say that I think that Tom Kennedy was a great game show host. He hosted a number of game shows and he was super. Every game show he hosted he was great. Thank you, Tom Kennedy.
Linda Narz, my best to your dad, and my deepest sympathies for the loss of your uncle Jack. TV without them, and without the many fun games of my childhood, is not the same. That's why I watch You Tube instead of TV.
Interesting note on the Break The Bank opening: The announcer for this episode was Ernie Anderson (AKA The Voice of ABC). He was subbing for Johnny Jacobs, the announcer for the ABC daytime version. Ernie was the announcer for the syndicated BTB with Jack Barry as the host.
Split Second was the first of TK's games that I remember watching in childhood, then Name That Tune, Body Language, then finally my favorite, Wordplay. I've enjoyed his other shows like Dr. IQ, You Don't Say!, and It's Your Bet via tape trading and YT.
If you look closely at the scene from the movie "That Thing You Do" where they hear their song on the radio for the first time in the appliance store, you can see parts of the intro from this exact episode of YOU DON'T SAY! on a color tv in the store. It's aired a bit out of order, as you can see the shot of the game show title over the audience before you can see Mel Torme's back followed by when he turns around to the camera.
I found that part of the movie here. You can see the title at about 1:20 and Mel Torme turn around in his chair at about 1:50: ruclips.net/video/RpmnIpAXpig/видео.html
7:11 Tom must've been good friends with Hal March, filling in for him on "It's Your Bet", and having Hal's (adopted) son Steve on "Name That Tune" (who is the biological son of Mel Tormé, whom we saw in the "You Don't Say" clip).
I was unaware that Ernie Anderson announced for at least one episode of Tom's Break the Bank! I thought it was only for Jack Barry's episodes. The more you know.. Of course, speaking of Tom, Happy 90th!
Tom Kennedy is my favorite host. My favorite of his shows (even though it wasn't his originally) was Password Plus. Other favorites include Whew!, Body Language, and Wordplay. However, as great as he was on Wordplay, I would've rather had Peter Tomarken host it just because he technically got there first. It's too bad game shows started to disappear by the end of the 1980's because Star Play and Babble looked exciting to watch and play.
Linda, I think your pop was waaaaaay more personable than Bob Barker, who always gave me a sense of being superior and off-putting, whereas your dad, your Uncle Jack and your Uncle Bill Cullen were warm and inviting. One question: Why did they not identify your father by name in the Dr. IQ television version? Was it because this was at the tail end of the scandals, or did your dad want to make certain your uncle Jack didn't suffer more guilt by association (thank goodness he didn't)
My father, Tom Kennedy, is thrilled with your video! He says: "I thank you DTB1997 whoever you are!"

DTB1997 - here's Dad's response: "What a nice reply from our friend, DTB1997!"

I loved "Whew!" as a kid. Had no idea what it was called, though. I always seemed to turn it over after the title sequence. Thanks for posting all these great videos. And thank you Tom, RIP.
Rest in paradise, Tom Kennedy.
3:25 That is the pilot for “Split Second.” Once it was picked up, the show went without a model, the set was tweaked, and the theme and cues were changed.
Amazed by the number of times he was introduced by Rod Roddy, another great in the industry
RIP Tom Kennedy, one of the greatest game show icons
TRUE INDEED.
I agree quite the career he had. Thanks for the lifetime memories.
Only Bob Barker age 98 is the last living game show host icon left.
@@jim6820 u can also add Wink Martindale(88) Bob Eubanks(84) & Chuck Woolery(81) to that list as well
@@marquishoward3529 oops I forgot to mention them thanks. Most of my favorite game show host that I grew up as a kid r deceased.
RIP to Tom Kennedy. Passed away 10/7/2020 at age 93. Quite the career he had. Never will forget that winning smile 😊 while I was growing up as a kid.

RIP James Edward Narz aka Tom Kennedy. You will be forever missed but never forgotten.
Hail & Farewell, Mr. Kennedy
Tom Kennedy has definitely paid his dues in the game show industry!!
I would like to say that I think that Tom Kennedy was a great game show host. He hosted a number of game shows and he was super. Every game show he hosted he was great. Thank you, Tom Kennedy.
RIP Tom thanks for countless hours of entertainment 🤦♂️😞😮💚

Thank you, Frank. They both added to the fun we all had interacting with and learning from TV game shows.
Thank you Harry Engel. I have passed your message to my dad.
Well Rest In Peace Tom Kennedy you were a great game show host.
My favorite, by far! Sending giant hugs to you, Mr. Kennedy ! 💜💞💖💜👏😘

Happy belated 90th birthday to game show icon Jim Narz (Tom Kennedy)
Thanks Charles. I forwarded your message to Dad. He thanks you!
please linda, tell your pops that he is amazing!
Rest In Peace. Another member of classic television gone... 📺
One of my favorite game show hosts
A terrific time capsule.

Always liked Tom Kennedy
I think that if Hollywood Game Night had been around in 1977-78 Tom Kennedy would have been the perfect host for it.
My favorite moment is when big brother Jack Narz and Tom Kennedy switched places on "Password Plus" It was on a dare. It was fantastic .
Charles allen jr I have that clip in the Jack Narz video

Me too Charles!
tom K hosted TPIR. which is kinda weird because Bob B is the retired legend
Also found out about Tom's passing today. Tom will be missed.
Rest in peace tom Kennedy
R.I.P Tom Kennedy
Rest In Peace Mr Lyle Waggoner, who appeared in the game show. It's Your Bet around the 2:25 - 2:35 mark.

HE IS MY FAVORITE HOST
The music on IT'S YOUR BET is more closely associated these days with LIVE WITH REGIS & KELLY's Trivia a Go-Go segments c. 2005 (Thursdays only).
BYE BYE TOM KENNEDY I WILL MISS YOU TOO MY IDOL!
Here is a link for "Eavesdroppers", a pilot that Tom hosted that I didn't add to this video.

The show I watched him on most was "You Don't Say!"
this video is so awesome well done by you 😇👏🎉💚
RIP Pat Carroll (as of 7.30.22)
Rest in peace Tom Kennedy

RIP Tom Kennedy.
And name that tune Tom Kennedy was real young
3:07 I know the full episode is out there, but does anyone have it? It isn't on youtube anymore.
I was unaware that Ernie Anderson announced for at least one episode of Tom's Break the Bank! I thought it was only for Jack Barry's episodes. The more you know.. Of course, speaking of Tom, Happy 90th!
For Split Second, I remember the opening when Michael Russnov was champion.
"Tom-kennedy another great game-show host" 🇮🇪🇺🇸.
Could you please make a video for Monty Hall, Peter Tomarken, Pat Sajak, and possibly Gene Rayburn?
Rest in peace
Whew was animated by Hanna Barbara Productions.

RIP, Tom!
I guess CBS, NBC & ABC remember Tom Kennedy.
It seems that xylophones were the rage back then.
I hope Tom Kennedy lives till he's 95
Unfortunately, he only made it to 93, he passed away this past Wednesday (October 7th)
I thought he also did the $100,000 Pyramid
"Break the bank with your host tom-kennedy".
Like WOW, Dr. I.Q. Ladies with those Microphones that were used by the late TV Icon Dick Clark on American Bandstand
Whoah! He was Dr. I.Q.! Was he also on the radio version? I didn't know his career stretched as far back as Bill Cullen's. Thanks for this!
Lew Valentine, Jimmy McClain and Stanley Vainrib hosted the radio show.
Classic car Pontiac firebird
You forgot eavesdroppers
Wasn’t Jack Narz his brother ?
Yes.

How many game shows did he host in his life time?
15 shows and 4 unsold pilots.
@@balconi89 wow that's a lot
What a talented host, and what a bunch of awful formats! Why did Tom end up with the most gimmicky games?
