Want to feel more GREAT instrumental? Try Vangelis "Hymn", or "canon in d", amazing graze by bag pipes. Kenny g "sound of silence". Music box dancer, and chariots of fire. There are a few others. But this is probably most in the top 10.

If you know the scene from the 'Last of the Mohicans' you will know it is incredibly sad and tragic. Yet it is a tribute to Dougie Maclean and the arrangers that in the midst of death this is perhaps one of the most life affirming pieces you will ever hear. I have had depression since I was 12 years old. I have never spoken of it and never seen a doctor. What's more I never will. This is my doctor. This is my pill and others like it. Unless you consciously decide to put one foot in front of another then you will simply remain stationary. Life doesn't just happen. You need to go out and create it for yourself, but sometimes, when you're tired or down cast it may need to be inspired. This can help.

I was scrolling around, listening to different versions of this tune, since I've loved the tune for years. I saw "Military Tattoo" in the title and thought it sounded promising. The music was good, and got better with the addition of the fiddle. But when the massed pipes came in I felt as if I'd been punched in the chest, so moved was I by them. It was as if the heavens opened to make way for the arrival of the armies of God. On the one hand I cried for at least fifteen minutes (during several replays of the tune), and these were not delicate tears gently coursing down my cheeks, but tears violently shed with gulping, racking sobs--tears coming from my soul. At the same time I felt so empowered I wanted to rush into battle carrying nought but a sword! I believe I have some Scottish ancestry, as there were Hamiltons on my mother's side, but most of my genealogical studies aren't bearing much fruit past the American side of the pond. Still, this video was an amazing discovery. I'm still in a state of agitation over an hour after first listening. Many thanks for the person who posted this!

I’m a wee bit late, I know, but I just thought I ought to let you know that Hamilton is primarily an English surname. While it is also a Scottish clan from the lowlands, it does not necessarily mean that you are of Scottish descent because the name has two origin points that are unconnected to each other. If Scottish ancestry is not showing up, this is probably the reason why. The name comes from a town in Leicestershire, I believe. I’m sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear, but I think that we all deserve to know where we came from, and there’s no shame in being of English descent. I, myself, am descended from people from all across the British Isles barring Wales. I’m aware that this is likely quite confusing, but across the British Isles, you will come across similar or identical names that are unrelated to each other in terms of origin. Take my name, for example. There are the Scottish Johnstone’s and Johnston’s, but the Johnson’s are unrelated, despise their striking similarities. That is an English surname, and some bearing this surname are even Swedish in origin and bearing an anglicised name.
