  • tinoceberano-igk,.com.au In the winter of 1982, Tino Ceberano Shihan hosted the largest Goju Kai camp yet held at Anglesea on Melbourne's west coastline. It coincided with a National Grading of black belts, the largest yet, including Goju Kai karate-do members from all Australian States and NZ.
Goshi Yamaguchi Shihan from Japan was present as a special guest. The training was intense, new friendships made and the grading rigorous. Channel 2 produced this film and screened it. It represents an iconic period in the history of Australian Goju karate-do and highlights the leadership and excellence of teaching by the hands of the pioneer of Australian karate, Tino Ceberano Shihan.
The Goju Kai and I.G.K. camps have always been legendary for their hard training and intensity but more notably for the friendships, family spirit and support for all.
Tino Ceberano Hanshi commenced teaching karate in Australia in late 1966 and still heads the I.G.K. today with traditional Goju karate taught in its dojos by experienced instructors for all ages. For many years Tino Ceberano Shihan taught Goju Kai karate-do at his North Balwyn dojo in Melbourne, Australia before forming his own IGK organisation in 1990. Some 52 years after starting to teach, he is launching his biography in March 2022. Find out more at www.tinoceberano.com.au or search in Amazon. A four week roadshow of book signings will be held in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast in March/April 2022. Signed copies can be ordered by emailing info@tinoceberano.com.au.

I spotted Helmet Moulders attempting 4th dan. I remember him as being a very decent chap and, even though we were not Goju Kai karate-ka ourselves, he always supported us at the world championship in Sydney by being with the team & adding his encouragement. I was greatly saddened at the news of his passing.
