    I just wanted to share my appreciation on here and say I graduated nursing school a little over a year ago and went directly into a CVICU. I’ve watched over 100 of your videos taking notes and progressing as I go watching videos like the IABP and CRRT ones before I got trained on them. Your videos helped me learn how to care for patients in the icu and feel confident in the care I provide. Thank you for putting your time and effort into making these because I’m sure there are many more like me who made it through their time starting in a high acuity ICU in part because of you. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos and keep progressing as a critical care nurse.

      Hey Michael! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave this message. Having worked there in a very acute CVICU I can appreciate your struggles, although I didn't cross over there until years of ICU experience. It is a beast, especially as a new grad, so congrats to you for doing what you had to in order to be successful. Really glad my videos and channel have helped in some way!

    Thanks for explaining, but I did have a question. Does the P wave have to be byphasic in lead V1 in order to show atrial enlargement?

    how can I identify normal biphasic P wave from abnormal one?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  8 месяцев назад +1

      Most of the time, P waves will be upright or inverted, depending on the lead normally. You can sometimes see biphasic P waves in V1 in normal individuals, but you need to look for the criteria as well as the appearance of the P wave in II and/or V6.
      Remember LAE the terminal part of the P wave is dominant and >0.04s. (also typically deeper than 1mm). For RAE the initial part of the P wave is dominante AND it must be larger than the P wave in V6. This is also assuming that we don't have class P-mitral or P-pulmonale appearance of the P wave in Lead II. If those aren't present, and we don't meet those critera but have a biphasic P wave in V1, we would probably be seeing a normal variant.

    Plz what is the difference between EKG and ECG

    • @bianca_1005
      @bianca_1005 8 месяцев назад +2

      It's the same thing. I wait for better clarification but I assume it's a linguistic issue (ex: in German it's K for "kardio", in Italian it's C for "cardio") 😉

      @ICUAdvantage  8 месяцев назад +2

      Bianca hit it. The old term is EKG. The english equivalent is ECG but EKG has just kind stuck around as common.
