A man who was uniquely positioned in terms of football intelligence. A player who rose to the same position as Lampard and Gerrard with only football intelligence, despite having unfit elements to play as a central midfielder, including asthma, decreased vision, poor tackle skills, and small bodies.
For me he was even better than Lampard and Gerard.

Nah Gerrard was more complete. Scholes was incredible though. One of the best passers I have ever seen.

Xavi considered him the best central midfielder of his era. As hard as it is to believe, Scholes has never scored a single point in the Ballon d'Or voting. I think it's very unfair.
Not his fault. He was playing in an era full of talented individuals everywhere and not just in the top teams, not like the limited crap we get nowadays.
@@bryanleeyf87yeah exactly. Ballon d’or has always been the most popular attacker in the world. A good defender could win it if they were lucky enough. Nowadays it’s a Ronaldo vs. Messi snoozefest (thankfully it isn’t happening anymore)

Before any idiot decide to call him uNdErRaTeD, him not being mentioned among your armchair friends who werent alive to watch him play means nothing.
Scholes was playing in an era full of talented players in every team and country, not like the current generation where they are all hoarded by the richest clubs. Scholes has always been highly rated/regarded by his peers, was always top rated in FIFA, always a legend in subsequent FIFA games since retirement.
To call him uNdErRaTeD is the greatest insult ever to him.
