    My piano's been broken for over three months and I finally had to scrap it when I too moved house last week. Watching your videos allows me to play again, if only vicariously.
    I'm glad you're getting settled in your new place. All of life's trials and obstacles pass eventually.

      Thank you, Rich!❤️ I sure know the stress of moving and of the unfortunate result of piano practicing having to take a temporary back seat. It broke my heart to be thinking of everything but my music. Yet like a cloud lifting, a ray of sunshine is now beginning to shine for me. But I remain cautious because that’s life and I am that sort of person. One cannot get too comfy otherwise further heartaches present too much of a shock. Life is stressful enough without having to live without one’s passion. I hope that once the dust has settled from your move, you will find a way to access a piano. Thank you for sticking with me through my move!🏡

    Yay! Another video is up from my favourite pianist!! You look sooo relaxed and comfortable, back in your zone. Can’t wait to see the “listening” room!! I really enjoyed being a part of your practice session! ♥️

      Oh how nice to hear, thank you so much, Roseanne and thank you for sticking with me through my unexpected move of 2024!!💚I am indeed finding my way back into the zone and can't wait to get these ideas in my head onto the channel!🥰

    I can't recall having seen the A major key signature written in that lower octave. Good to see your house is becoming a home.

      Thank you, David! I am feeling very much at home in my new place! The score is an old Breitkopf & Härtel edition which I got off of the IMSLP site. My own edition is a Henle. Once in a while, I see some unusual notation in those older editions, though, tis true!✨

    Thanks for the video! I'm in love with your approach to Bach. Any chance you could record pieces from "first lessons in Bach" please? I'm a beginner pianist and want to do both playing and listening
    I'm so lucky RUclips showed me your videos.

      Thank you so much!💚 Absolutely, I will gather some ideas for videos on some more beginner-friendly rep. It’s been on my mind and I’m glad you mentioned it. Happy practicing to you!

    • @pennyplaysbach

      Thank you so much, Mary! ❤️ Yes, finger pedal is more of an advanced concept, it's like magic how it works! I'm sure that I use just as much of it in Bach as I do my actual foot on the pedal.😅

      Y no da un efecto demasiado romantico? Como de apoyatura?

    • @pennyplaysbach
      @pennyplaysbach  8 месяцев назад +4

      @@maryfauque8611 I like to think of Bach's music as being just as "romantic" as actual romantic (aka 19th century) piano repertoire, ha, but I think I know what you mean and yes, one has to listen very carefully and maintain alert, energized fingers, especially at the tips, otherwise the murky waters of over-pedaled playing drown the poor notes!😅

      De todos modos ,si tocamos con el piano y no con clave, podemos concedernos alguna licencia ya que cada instrumento tiene su sonido y mecánica propios .

      @pennyplaysbach  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@maryfauque8611 I just try my best to be guided by the sound. Constance Keene used to say that "if you can hear the sound, the fingers will find a way to achieve it."✨

    I like that you wrote all the fingering, so you can restart anywhere, even in the middle of a measure, without thinking about what fingers were there before the starting point. I do that a lot also. But I agree that while playing it is messing the page.

    • @pennyplaysbach
      @pennyplaysbach  8 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you, Léo! I actually don’t mark in fingering like this for myself. I find it paralyzing to see all of those numbers, and apart from a few numbers here and there, my own scores are bare of them. My fingers just sort of know where to go. Putting it all down on paper is very hard for me, but I wanted to share it with folks. I know that many players, including the great, Gina Bachauer (according to my teacher, Constance Keene, anyway) mark in every fingering. It’s a very personal thing!😀
