Welcome back, everyone! In today’s video, we’re diving deep into the ECBA (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis), one of the foundational certifications offered by IIBA. If you’ve been wondering whether the ECBA is worth your time and investment, especially if you’re new to business analysis or considering a career switch, this video is for you. We’ll explore what the ECBA entails, who it’s for, and how it can impact your job prospects from the perspective of a hiring manager.
Unlike its advanced counterparts, the CCBA and CBAP, the ECBA focuses on the basics, covering essential techniques and knowledge you need when starting your career. In this video, we break down the exam structure, highlight what you’ll need to study from the BABOK guide and provide insights into how this certification can add value to your resume. We’ll also discuss the investment involved, both in terms of time and money, and whether it’s really necessary to take additional courses.
As a hiring manager and CBAP-certified professional, I’ll share my honest thoughts on how the ECBA certification can influence your job applications. Does it make you stand out? Does it justify a higher starting salary? I’ll answer these questions and more, helping you make an informed decision about pursuing this certification. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more insights on career growth in business analysis. Let’s get started!

    Hi Iurii,
I stumbled upon your channel and found your videos really interesting! I'm curious-what's your take on specialized Master's programs in Business Analysis at universities? Such programs are already starting to appear at some universities around the world. Do you think it's worth approaching Business Analysis academically already, and, if yes, how relevant is it?

Hi Alex, Thank you for your question. It's a bit of a head-scratcher, to be honest.)) If you could share the specific program you were interested in, I might check it and share my opinion.
As for general academic business analysis, I think it is relevant. The problem with business analysis is that when you look at it without specific implementation, it seems too vague. My first thought is to have foundational BA knowledge as a starting course, then go into a specialization or two later.
