Something i do when working on my cars is i put a big piece of cardboard down. I get mine off skids at work, but everybody has boxes laying around. That way no fluids get on my driveway or garage floor.

YOU'RE BACK!!! WHOOW!! Did my oil change on new years eve too... busted my drain plug, barely got it out and (thank god) was able to screw a new on in... but now the immobiliser is giving me a shit time, because I wrecked my oil pan, I sticked a magnet to the oil pan, to get any metal shavings to stick too, but most probably the magnet wiped the keys as I was carrying them in the same hand...
Apparently my car gives the same combination of warning lights when there's an ignition failure as when the ignition key is not being recognized. I went through it all over again and it seems that I had'nt connected one of the sparkplug leeds again. Oil change was because of a headgasket replacement and residue in the oil which was caused by that headgasket replacement. Sparkplug leeds had to be disconnected to get to the headgasket.
A tip before taking the oil filter off take a little pick or small screwdriver and punch a hole in the bottom of it. Then let the oil drain out before removing the filter.

Pro tip. I use an extension and socket by hand to remove the drain bolt after its been broken loose. It keeps my hands clean and gloves clean if I'm wearing gloves.

Use an awl to punch a hole in bottom of filter. Much cleaner when you remove it.

Merry Christmas and happy new year sweetie. Just a quick tip when taking the oil plug off. I been doing it to my truck and it works well. Put your hand on top of the plug when taking it off and when its almost completely off you should almost feel like the plug is almost out that's when i put my hand on top of the plug and when you take the plug completely off your hand would be on top and not in the direct path of the oil coming out and also rise your hand upward as your trying to move your hand away from the oil coming out. That's what i do and i usually don't have or don't have much oil on my hands. I hope that helps ;) I hope you had great holidays hun ;)
