The Miis, the cars, the rainbow boost panels, even the big rotating sphere thing above the fountain, you really did replicate everything near perfectly! Especially love how the Pianta models and animations are taken straight out of Wii instead of reusing 8’s ones
very nicely made especially with details such as reflections and the rainbow boost panels fun fact: coconut mall is the only mario kart wii track to have rainbow boost panels while every other track has boost panels with an orange-purple gradient
part 2 of said fun fact: the rainbow boost panels were actually remnants of an earlier version for the boost panels meant to be used everywhere, but after they changed them, seems like they just forgot about Coconut Mall
Sure the old textures dont hold up but its got more of a "soul" and that's what matters to me You've got a bunch of piantas and mii's everywhere and it really feels like they are cheering on you
the mk8/tour one also has a “soul” but since its a new thing people immediately hate said new thing and prefer the old thing despite the fact coconut mall in 8 actually looks tropical lmao
I'd very much prefer something like this over the lifeless Tour remake. So many things I miss were cut. The Beach Ball balloon dome, The arches at the end, I'd would've prefered an actual escalator too over the treadmill.

Main issue with the Booster Course Pass is the visual consistency. It's certainly improved significantly from Wave 1, but it's obvious they put more into some tracks than others - even in Wave 1, Choco Mountain looked better than every other course because they actually retextured more than just the main road. Plus, aside from Yoshi's Island, most of the tracks are reliant on just copypasting Toads, Yoshis, and Paratroopas randomly from the basegame, and it's...an odd way to try and make the courses feel more alive. Coconut Mall definitely looks more alive than it does in 8 Deluxe thanks to the Miis and brighter aesthetic, but realistically, people would be just as up in arms if they ported the original Wii model as they were with the fairly unaltered Tour model. At least they've kind of gotten their act together, since aside from most cities (which are limited by being large driveable areas, some of them have higher polygon models than base 8 tracks) the tracks look a lot better now, with much more extensive retexturing. Still not quite on par with the base game, except for maybe Waluigi Stadium, and they still stubbornly refuse to bring in base 8 assets like foliage and trees outside of Peach Gardens, but this port only has the edge in terms of being faithful. Had Coconut Mall not been shoved into Wave 1, it'd probably look nicer and play much more like this. (And there's still some other issues with the ports - missing elements in Tour cities that defeat the purpose of including them all as preservation, with Bangkok especially getting hit hard by this, halfpipe jank, DK Summit having some problems with the camera and a 5-second cannon launch that should've been sped up, etc., but overall it's decent - just in some respects feels comparable to what one gets with custom tracks.)
@@PikaPhantom_ Holy crap dude, write a damn novel while you're at it. There's nothing wrong with the damn courses in the BCP. @@PikaPhantom_ I agree with al of this. But you do have to take in the fact that all of these tracks are being designed for a mobile game first. This is where I think just copying and pasting those npcs just feels odd. in Coconut Mall ook at the food benches and tables around you and then look at the NCPs. They're much bigger than you in 8DX where in Tour the size proportions are all different.
@@nintony2994 The NPCs are large in base 8, too, but yeah, the upscaling of the Tour models often makes things especially off-putting. And they also often just...put them in weird spots. Berlin Byways has the most egregious example after the Berlin wall section, where you can trick off the curbs surrounding the pillars holding up the bridge you can go under - but they slapped some NPCs onto them, so it becomes janky very quickly because you can't pass through them.
