Awesome video as always ! Agree on the drag setting I feel like people at times use very tight drags on a open beach. As long as it’s tight enough to set da hook let the rod and reel do the rest of the work !
Good job on some nice fish. Enjoyed your comments on the hardware. If you leave the trebles on, may want to consider crushing barbs down. Makes for quicker, safer release and if you do get stuck, much easier to remove w/o barb. I haven't seen any increase in missed bites or lost fish either.
Hey Jerry was really a pleasure chating with you on the beach. Wish I had thought of it at the time but I wish I had given you a few teasers that I make after watching your 360 videos. Next time. Be well
Hi Tommy nice to meet you and all my pleasure! No rush for me to get into holiday traffic! That of been great my stock been running low have to tie some up this winter, if we are super lucky the fishing will go on and we wont have time to tie!
Great video, as usual, Jerry. Great to see you on the fish again. I'm resting now, after an epic day of big slot and better bass, on bucktails and pencil poppers. I hope it keeps going for a while.
Have removed all rear hooks on minnow style plugs. As they it usually gets stuck down the bass's throat doing lots of damage. I just replace with a flag. Plus crimp the trebles hooks.
Good stuff thanks for sharing, I guess you can even use that rear hook after the mid goes. I like the idea of crimping the hooks what kinda mono do you use for that? Thanks Michael
Jerry, I don't use treble hooks anymore. Too risky to me plus they cause unnecessary injuries to the fish from the other treble hook. In the video you mentioned that adding a dropper single hook fly would probably be effective. Why not get rid of trebles and put on single hooks with a dropper?
For sure, I know people on blood thinners that dont take any chances for good reason always do whats best for you. I totally get it. There were a lot of smaller smaller fish on the lip of the beach with a setup like that you would probably be picking them 3 to 1 with a bucktail/teaser combo. Leave the lure about for a bigger one to get to it.
Hey Jer you found the bite again? Awesome!! Was this yesterday? You seem much further east from last video. Glad to see you are wrapping up season strong.
Hi Jerry, Many, many Stripers today. Why did you choose the Daiwa Minnow over the custom bucktail? The bucktail was working well. Glad the Stripers are sticking around. I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving. Take care and good luck, Mickey
Thanks Mickey and I left a bunch out! I am ok with 1 thrilled with 3, always have to love the bigums but somedays they are stacked and like to show that to. Fish been around gonna try soon! have a blessed thanksgiving Mickey and thanks always!
Hi Alan! Happy thanksgiving to you family and all your friends! There are things I prefer and the Daiwa minnow is one of them. I feel trusted when I use one from years of use now kinda know what I can do with them and what I am gonna get when I buy a new one but haven't had to buy a new one a while now! Feel the sameway with the raps in freshwater just know the hardware and have the confidence the combo of the 2
Hi , what rod and reel set up are you using there ? I've been wanting to try a conventional on the surf . Every time I search for them , if looking at a combo they are usually 7' rod. ?? Should I just up the rod size to 9-10 or the 8 will cast well ? Appreciate the info
I really like your videos I'm your fan and I would like to learn to fish that style, I don't know much or know the places to fish, send me some GPS coordinates
@@FishYourWay totally love the 6500 series for casting for bass with 7.5 - 8ft rods -- def the way to go...!!!! i wanna set up a similar stick for the beach, is that Star rod a 2 piece ?
@@FishYourWay i had to be sure i wasn't the only one who was skunked today. sheesh. it was tough. I did feel a few bites...i feel like by the time you figure out what they are preferring...i.e) soft plastics vs diamond vs plugs...the tide is already coming in and its pushing you off the sandbars...and now no matter how hard you cast from shore it just isn't the same as casting it to the second point....sigh! this was my story today. a few tap taps on the line and had to come home. You got it karl I like to create the drag as I need it sometime you do sometimes you dont but you can never undo a tight drag when its too late!
The SP minnow is my number 1 go to for stripers. Always get great results whipping one out
Keep up the good work!
It is such a pleasure watching your videos. Tight lines

great video, I always wondered how long the rod is you are using .
Thank you! The one in this video is 10ft
If you can only have one color for both day and night which one will be your choice.
Hard to pick! One color in the world I would have to go with white and hope they dont want yellow that day/night!

Some days yea other days live minnows may be the way to go this day certainly yes
