    I ran a riviera diaphragm clutch on my 80* and love it….definitely need to try one of these on my 74

      Yeah it's a game changer and a pretty ingenious design that's super easy to install

    You're better off without the cover anyway being that it's a dry primary. Those generate a lot of heat and need a way to vent. This video gave me food for thought though as I'm running a dry clutch on my shovel too.

      For sure, not made that I ended up spacing out the bottom of my primary for added clearance and air flow. I’ll put my derby back on soon

      Definitely! He could possibly put spacers between the inner and outer primary. That way, he could keep the outer primary with the derby cover on and vent the primary.

      @@rustythrottle5713 yeah the outer is spaced out at the bottom

    Hey Mike! We met at the Seminole casino bike show a while back I had the silver shadow chopper. I recognized that shovel from a mile away

    If you are having trouble with the clutch not disengaging completely ( especially after the bike warms up), it might be your primary belt. In the video, it looks like it's pretty tight. When the belt heats up, it actually shrinks a small bit. This will cause the belt to pull the clutch basket forward and make your bike walk a little when you disengage the clutch. Since you're running an inner primary, you don't have any transmission adjustments. They make 1 1/2 inch belts that are a couple of teeth larger. This could fix your problem. I'm not saying the new clutch setup isn't going to work. In fact, the diaphragm spring is way nicer. Just wanted to throw that out there for. Good luck, and nice ride!

      Thanks! I have full adjustability of the trans as I cut up the inner primary so I could slide. Belt actually isn’t super tight but I’ll look into it

    Great video - Love your bike! I see your throttle cable is hidden. How does the throttle mechanism work inside the handlebar?

    • @drmikemerkt
      @drmikemerkt  2 часа назад

      @@garystahl8137 thanks! It’s a stock panhead/ironhead internal throttle. I got a ride side stock handlebar from one of those bikes and took the internal throttle assemble out of it and transferred it to this set of bars

    I had clearance issues on my clutch and outter cover with my primo clutch. I put a cork primary gasket on and it spaced the outter cover enough to eliminate my rubbing issue

      Good idea! I ended up spacing the bottom of my cover out a bit and that solved my issues

    It sucks that you had to ruin the cover to install this thing.

      Yeah it did take quite a bit of grinding to make it fix and I ended up spacing the outer cover out on the bottom but it’s absolutely worth it for how well it works

    Your shop practices are killing me, grinding as opposed to getting shorter screws, bending tabs etc. have a blessed week my friend.

      @drmikemerkt  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I hear you, at the same time they chrome screws from colony…so you can’t just get just get screw heads from them which is essentially all they are now. The bottom of the primary is spaced out slightly with spacers as well. Bending those tabs out just a hair helped with clearance issues
