    Hi Chris,
I've started using my local bus that goes to the West coast of Cumbria, we have some great coastal bike routes.ive put the Brompton in one of the luggage racks in its cover, never thought of which way to put it down.Glad you did this video saves me damaging the handlebar side of the bike.Have a great weekend, Stephen H

      Hi Stephen H
At first I was in doubt which side would be better, but after analyzing that the Handlebar side has many hinges, the place that has less stress for the bicycle is the foldingpedal side.
Small details make a lot of difference.
That idea is fantastic, long miles by bus and the fun part by Brompton. 👍🏻😊🚴‍♀️

You have to keep Mom happy!. Great tips as always. I made the mistake once of putting my bike in the car handlebar-side down. I now have a small nick on the frame ☹.

      Hi Bromptin Owner
I'm still not satisfied with my clamps. I love the round knobs, but they all come with hollow screws. I'm thinking of using the original Brompton screws changing the plastic part for a round one. But don't know how to do it yet.🤔

Very good. Putting a cover over the bike also helps as it will keep your car cleaner and if there are other things in the car that fall onto the bike, keep them clean as well. Thanks

      Hi Jonathan Leach
It is always good to protect the seats. One thing that helps a lot on a folded Brompton is that all the chain and gear are place in the middle when the bike is folded, so it is harder to get things dirty.

Hi Chris. Thanks for the wise advice. I need to carry 2 Brompton in my boot plus 2 or 3 people. I do so by putting 1 bike upright and the other flat. For safety’s sake I also use a rope or straps to tie the bikes to attachments in the boot, but my previous car did not have such attachments.
I also once had to reject a possible new car as the boot could not take 2 Brompton so it is always worth a check. Your idea of putting the bike behind a front passenger seat looks good from a safety and security point.
I also believe that one of the main aims of Andrew Ritchie who designed the Brompton was to provide a bike to take in a car.
    Regards Stewart Dorrell

      Hi Stewart Dorrell
I think the best feature of Brompton is it's capacity to fit in small places. With that we can always take it with us, even on family trips.
When is time to buy a new car, I do a similar test, the bike and the surf board test. 👍🏻😁
Nice to have you on board!

Last year my wife and I travelled with 2 Bromptons in a Smart car. They fit inside, but we had to take out the saddles. We had to squeeze all other luggage in small bags in the remaining space. It was great.

Do you have extended seat post? My standard seat post Brompton fits fine - not tried putting both Bromptons in at same time though (1 standard and 1 electric).

As an owner of a Peugeot 208 (Luxury version, with a glasroof) I sometimes bring my brompton in the back, and turning it a 1/4, it is able to be placed in the back, opposite the way which makes the saddle pin go along the car. And I have a "Vincita" pouch on my pedal!! It is absurdly expensive, but I do like it anyway!

It is a Hunday Tucson made in 2011. It is one of the few cars that fit my Touring Bike without taking the wheels out and opens the back glass separate from the door.
It is very well maintained. I'll use it until it lasts 🚘👍🏻😊

I was thinking, that's how it always start :-) , to maybe make a wooden box so you can just slide in your Brompton in the back of the car. A couple of cm of play so you can get it in and out easily and use some soft stuff inside of it so the bike doesn't rattle or gets damaged. To secure it probably stick on velcro so It can't move out of the box and sticks on the carpet of your car. But be careful as velcro will 'damage' the carpet of the car so using an extra cheap carpet over the carpet in the trunk of your car will do the job perfectly.

      Hi Jennie
      I'm glad you like it!
Pull your front seat all the way to the front, and your Brompton will fit perfectly.
Good for long and curvy trips.
Adjust the seat back and your Brompton will be very tight and safe.

You don't have to worry about it falling down if you stand it up in the boot of a Smart car LOL - not enough room for it to be laid down. I do, however, have to remove my Ortlieb mini-O bag.
