    I have a habit of always exporting a tool library of what's currently in the machine. 9 times outta 10 I'm using the same tools over and over. Keeping a running update of tools currently in the machine saves a lot of hunting around. Especially when programming multiple jobs in succession. Same library and you know every tool you pick is in the machine ready to go, don't have to measure or touch any tool off between setups.

    Hi John,
    @3:40 where you wanted to de-select the Vendor/Samples libraries - you don't need to quit out of the operations dialog and re-launch the tool dialog.
    Just click the toolbar button in the upper left of the tool editor. That collapses/expands the Tool Library Tree in the tool dialog.
    When you launch the tool dialog from within an operation, the Tool Library Tree is hidden by default, but you just need to click that button to expand it and then you can do all of your usual library manipulations.
    I'm teaching a Fusion-based CAM/CNC machining class, and I just covered this a week and a half ago, so it's fresh on my mind.

    The way a machine handles H-Numbers for tool length varies. On the DMG's at work with massive tool libraries it's per tool, with 8 different H numbers per tool. So we have T1H1, T2H1, T3H1 etc...
    Tools are also saved in tool groups, you can have multiples of the same tool, with the same tool number registered. Really handy for automatic switching between tools once they're used up!
    Cool to see how Fusion handles a library, it's not to far off from Mastercam.

    Nice! Thanks for the effort you put in to get the right info to everyone.
    When I want to copy a tool to another folder in the library, I drag and drop. Saves a few clicks.
    As to the cloud library, I use it to allow me to program in the office, in the shop, or at home with the same tools. Do yourself a favor and take the time to get used to it. Thanks again!

    I plan to become a member next week. I have become increasingly aware of how much help having access to these files would be. as well as supporting a great RUclips channel. after watching your feeds and speeds video recently I copied the feeds and speeds used for a 1/4 end mill and was pleasantly surprised with how well my little mill ran. I still had to fine tune to my machine but was so close from the get go.
    Much like the machine NYCNC started with in the apartment, mine is in the back room of a Toy hauler. This machine doesn't have a lot of anything but I am using it to extend my education.

    Very nice channel TO THE POINT, very nice attitude, explaining the process, not long not short video, very smooth. Well done!!
    I don't see all the videos yet, but can you make a content with mold?

    Hey John, love your teaching and the whole package. But on this video I noticed that your face is more in focus than on most of the ones you've done while sitting at your desk -- like most of the the chip break series. And I think the difference is that on this one you have a featureless wall in back of you and on most of the others you have the bench with the ardwino projects and such. The camera seems to be happy focusing on the farther away stuff which leaves you a bit out of focus. On the off chance that you didn't fix that deliberately I thought I'd comment.
    Cheers and Happy Hew Year.

    The shaft tab lets you add custom tapers to the shaft of the tool. This is useful for mold and die cutters with 1-10 degree shafts. Height is length of taper, upper diameter is the top of the taper, and lower is the bottom of the taper. the tool editor looks different now. Fusion no longer highlights the part of the tool that you are editing which I really don't like. They need to bring that feature back for sure.

    John,
    thanks for doing this, was very helpful. much obliged.
    is there are way to specify speeds and feeds via a material or an operation? this way the tool geometry created once.

    Why don't the Fusion 360 tool libraries that I create get automatically backed up on the cloud? Why are tool libraries an exception to Fusion 360 being cloud-based? I recently switched computers and was suprised to see my tool libraries absent on my new computer, but I was fortunately able to go get them from my old computer.

    It seems like maintaining the master(I would call it default) tool library is almost so much trouble that just putting the tool data into the model everytime might be less trouble.

    • @ScottMoyse
      @ScottMoyse 7 лет назад

      bcbloc02 it really isn't. it just takes a bit of discipline on your part to make sure you don't add stuff Willy nilly add edit tools for custom situations in your master libraries. it's so sweet once you have a few tool libraries dialled wth feeds and speeds set per material.

    John, what happens when you have the manual tool change box checked in the tool library? I thought that it added a M1 in the g-code but it still adds the M1 with out it checked. How do I know that the machine will retraced enough for the next tool change? Would that be the G28 G91 Z0? Sorry, its been like 10 years for this G-code stuff!!

    • @occamssawzall3486
      @occamssawzall3486 7 лет назад

      tbonef150
      Manual tool change should add an M0, not an M1. M1 is optional stop, so if you hit optional stop on the machine controller it will stop everytime it sees an M1.
      G91 G28 Z0 will return the machine to it Z home position, which is fully retracted up.

    In your Clean master library, you have 3 Tool #1s (3/16" & 1/4" Ball, 125" chamfer). Is this intentional? Wouldn't it cause problems?
    And that's a big-ass chamfer mill... wowzers. ;)

    John I notice that you have duplicate tool number in the library?
    I run mach4 for the mill do I have to keep the same tool numbers in mach4 tool library as well ?
    Very interesting video need to revisit to establish it in the brain cell

    John,
    Is there a way to export/import the library to an Excel file?

    • @WAF74
      @WAF74 7 лет назад

      JSON (Java Script Object Notation), isn't quite the same thing as Java. Java is a programming language. JSON is just a data format. So JSON is in the same family of stuff as XML and CSVs... They're all just text files with the text in a specific syntax... if that makes sense to ya. And looking at 16:12 in the video, it does export in .json (and hsmlib) file formats...

    • @ClaytonwFirth
      @ClaytonwFirth 7 лет назад

      w.A.f. If it saves in JSON it wouldn't take much effort to write a script to convert to CSV which can be loaded by excel. I'll take a look later today.

    I hate that it duplicates tools like that. It really makes the tool library screen messy.
    Wish they would make it like tabs or something for each folder rather than display all the tools like that. And just give me a button to move it to the current document tool list. I don't need to see every tool possible among my tool lists all at once.

    This 'tool management' approach is weak and slow. It is not easy to manage the various setups of parts and keep track of what tools are being used for. What a pain.....

    But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Yeshua ישוע (Jesus) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the YHVH יהוה (LORD) shall be saved.” Romans 10:8-13
