Like you, this was a huge part of my childhood when I was 9-11 years old (1989-1991). Sadly I left the hobby (got a Sega console) and never came back to it until I got HeroQuest recently. I never painted my originals so for me this is an excellent guide I will be following with and getting my children to help. I don't have a massive amount of time so this is perfect. Many thanks.
So many memories are instantly brought back when playing and painting this game. Now you get to share the joy of this game with your kids. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!

Probably the best paintjob I've seen on the new Heroquest miniatures, most of them don't even bother to remove the mold lines. I'd like to see more! I'm currently painting the original Heroquest set.
Hey Super Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate the very nice words. I’m planning on doing the entire set for heroquest to include the furniture so please stay tuned!

Thank you so much for doing this series. I have subscribed. Bringing back my childhood with my kids now. I only ever played the first two missions, as I didn’t own the game, but the game has always been one I wanted. When it got reprinted, it was a no brainer. I’ve got my paints and supplies and ready to go. Now I just need time.
Hey Jason. I’m stoked to hear that you are now sharing this with your kids. Hero Quest is what started everything for me. I find that the hardest thing about painting is the time. It seems to me that the older you get the more time seems to escape me. I remember my father telling me that time will begin to fly the older you get. Some of the truest words I’ve been told my entire life. I wish that I could create more time to paint and do the things I want to do. I try to paint everyday, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. Some days that isn’t possible but at least I put some effort into it. I hope you get the time because this hobby is addicting!
I am a beginner in mini painting and I am using your video for my Heroquest. Looks amazing. Really awesome work you did. Thanks a lot for advises and techniques. Especially for highlight.
Wow, that is amazing. I'm afraid it is too much for my skills. I am thinking of a technique to initially base the model with the shadows (dark and thinned color) then dry brush with the main color, and then apply the highlights. I am aiming in a "fast 3 layer" paint, which should be decent. What do you think ? It's my first paint after many many years (50 now, 16 back then).
I don't think it would be a bad idea. I think you could do it. I don't think it would look as good but decent. Thank you for watching and sorry for the late response.

It might be too late, but you can straighten that sword using hot water to soften the plastic, straighten it by hand, then dip it in cold water to hold it in place.

What type of varnish or clear coat do you put on after all the painting is done? I'm worried about spraying on something that will mess up the paint job
amazing !! just getting back into painting after a 25 year break as i have ordered the new heroquest as i had the old one from the 80s and loved it, between each colour do you let the prior colour dry first ? great job gonna watch the rest :)
I agree about the barbarian looking more like Lan than the actor they chose for the Amazon series; but I suspect that we were influenced in our vision of Lan by the cover art on Eye of the World.
Thanks for these videos. I'm expecting my HeroQuest remake box from mail today!!1 And I'm going to use your videos to not only paint my figures but to learn how to paint overall. :D One question tho: do you finish your models with some kind of lacquer or do you trust your paint to hold all the gaming without it?
Hey Lego I typically don't use a spray or a lacquer just because my painted miniatures don't go anywhere besides the table and maybe on a stand or back in the box. The lacquer also leaves a shininess to it.
@@nerdknights1122 Ok, thanks for the tip. I got my game finally and I'm surprised how bad quality some of the models were. Like skeleton scythes are so bent they look like bows and some of their blades are also very bent. Also dwarf has the crack that you had on the other shoulder and other hands palm is completely loose, some furniture has pretty bad glue stains etc.. And I am constantly afraid to rip models out from the box because the slots are so freaking tight that I think I'll break them lol
@@legoengineergaming7279 Yeah I agree on the quality. Hasbro didn't put much money into the quality of the miniatures unfortunately. For us painters, that is the one thing we look for.

Wheel of time is awesome glad to hear your a fan aswell unfortunately the TV show imo is utter trash. I gave up on it after about 4 episodes.
Hey Wann First off, thank you for watching the series and leaving a comment. I agree with you on the miniatures, I was hoping for something a little bit better than what they gave us but they will suffice. The WoT actually got a little better after episode 4 but it will never be as good as the books. I did see some articles from the producers of the show stating that they didn't consult with enough fans of the series before creating it and will do so in the future. I think they caught a lot of heat for the lack of the story and doing things that didn't need to be done. I hope they make it better for season two.
Even more than LoTR I reckon WOT is even harder to create on the screen either in movies or TV shows. The scale and depth of the WOT series and the amount of critical back story required to understand what's going on is just too much capture on the screen. Almost need a narrator or read along guide for each epsiode. In saying this I'll still watch the show as I like to see how other people (or the director I guess) bring the books to life. Sure they'll be different from the vision in my head but that's OK. Re Lan in particular I think they nailed him in the cast. In my head I even had him asian samurai type warrior. Afterall he is using a heron mask blade which is essentially a japanese sword. Re the actual Barbarian model great job mate! I did the same as you trying to follow the card art as much as possible and pretty much ended up with the same result. Kind of regret I didn't jazz up the base like you did though! Well done and looking forward to the series.
I completely agree. LoTR was done, in my opinion, with perfection. The music, scenery, acting, and casting were amazing. With that being said, I think with the amount of money being dumped into each episode of WoT should warrant a little more in the special effects area. I know it would be impossible for the director to completely recreate the world Robert Jordan had created but I thought they did an amazing job with Game of Thrones and recreating those novels. I love your idea about a narrator. I do think they did a good job with Lan, I just always imagined him being a little bulkier. I will still continue to watch the series and be a little grumpy with certain aspects of the show. Thank you for watching the episode and supporting the channel. I appreciate you leaving a comment.
