Today, I will showcase my approach to crafting the walls of the Admiral's cabin. Using Fusion360 and CNC, I have created relief walls from pearwood, tinted them, installed electric wires, and illuminated the lantern on the ship's stern.
Witness the final outcome and kindly share your comments!

    -------------------------------------
🌊In this video series, I am constructing a model of the Santa Maria sailboat - the largest ship from Christopher Columbus's 1492 expedition. The model is based on a 1/65 scale kit from Amati.
As Amati ship model kits are often simplified for easier assembly, I am making significant modifications and corrections to certain elements.
To gain a better understanding of how to revamp these construction elements, I am utilizing various resources, such as ship modeling materials, online information about 15th-16th century sailboats, and Xavier Pastor's book "The Ships of Christopher Columbus. Santa Maria, Niña, Pinta" from the Anatomy of the Ship collection, etc.
However, due to the limited evidence available regarding the appearance of Columbus's ships, I am allowing myself some creative freedom when building this sailboat model.

Breathtaking doesn't even come to close to describing what you have accomplished here...
Your Fusion skills are excellent... I've been learning 360 for about 6 months now and have nothing but envy for your creations ! !
May I ask what CNC set up you are using ? A CNC will be my next indulgence and any guidance you could give would much appreciated.
As always, thank you for sharing and be well.

Thank you for good words :)
Yes Fusion 360 is a great tool and moreover, available for free!
Regarding the CNC - I have a three-axis machine with a spindle of 1.5 kilowatts. It uses Fanuc post-processor, available in Fusion 360.

Thank you very much. Maybe I should consider making a video about my workshop at some point.
I created a thread about my CNC on the SoS forum. You're welcome to check it out: shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/my-cnc-machine-what-and-why.12096/

My machine isn't connected to the computer. It has its own controller that exclusively processes G code. This controller is set up for Fanuc post-processing. I generate the G code directly from Fusion 360, then copy it onto a USB stick and load it into the machine controller. This way, I don't need to have my computer in the dusty workshop next to the machine :)
