I read this one a while back and I thought it was just ok. I think the gore descriptions got a little redundant for me but I always think too much gore is boring. It's funny because when you were describing it I thought it sounded great. I definitely appreciated the "men's adventure/mercenary" type aspect of it. It made it very much a pulpy-genre crossover book. Either way, great review!

I'm not a major fan of gore, myself. I really just wanted more overall scenes with the actual outbreak. The scene with the couple in the van was done extremely well and I thought there would be more like that. Thanks for taking the time to check out my review!

If you liked the rising Keene released a short story collection recently that all take place in the rising universe and they were all a ton of fun. Some were better than others but that's any collection.

I actually LOVE The Rising and it's sequel. I have seen a couple of other books mentioned that take place within the same universe, but haven't gotten to those yet. I do love a good short story collection, though!
