Movie posters usually have the leads front and center. It would make no sense for Mbaku to be a big presence in the poster if he's mainly a secondary supporting role in the film. If certain people have a problem with the poster and nitpicking then they have far bigger internal issues. "Your face says anger Namor, but you have the ankles of a dove." - Sue Storm probably.

With respect to Namor's ankle wings, they aren't typically shown flapping in the comics, but they have been. I know John Byrne sometimes shows motion with them when he draws Namor. But if you think about it, even with characters who have wings on their backs, artists often don't draw them in a way that shows a flapping motion but rather with them extending in a way that looks more like gliding. But the implication is that their wings flap even if it's not specifically shown and I think the same is true with Namor. But the reality is we have to remember that Namor is a character that was created in 1939 and it's doubtful anyone thought about the physics of little wings on someone's ankles allowing them to fly. Even to this day, Marvel says that they "in some unknown manner " allow Namor to fly. With respect to the MCU Namor, I think having his ankle wings flap was the right call since they are how he flies in the comics and what makes him a mutant. Just having them be static on his ankles in live action doesn't connect them to his power of flight.
The trailer was awesome, tbh. I'm very certain that Shuri is at the helm of the Black Panther, but a part of me thinks it's actually Nakia, only due to the fact that we've actually never seen Shuri in hand to hand combat before, and like in the 1st film, we saw how quickly Killmonger destabilized her weapons and she couldn't even hold her own against him, whereas Nakia literally disarmed Killmonger, but if it werent for the suit, Nakia probably would've taken him down.
I loved this trailer, but I still can’t get over the goosebumps the first one gave me - so emotional, raw and fierce all at once. My only BIG hope is that Marvel don’t go and destroy the serious and meaningful note that BP has with their nefarious attempt to make everything cheesy and comedic, like they did with Wanda🤬
I just want them to drop the MCU humor, just for once. It would be the icing on the cake for this movie. Even CW learned to make their shows feel different from one another starting with Superman & Lois, it’s about time the MCU did the same

Excited to see Namor. As far as I can tell I like the changes they've made to him and think he looks great. I know its a tricky siruation with Bosmans passing but it seems like a disservice to everyone imo. But I will still see it and am overall looking forward to it.
In the comics both Shuri and Jane Foster became far more well-rounded once they evolved past "female version of male hero." Hopefully they can both do the same in the MCU.

I got my tickets! Couldn't get IMAX, but got great seats on regular screen. Looking forward to this, especially Namor. I'm dumbfounded how accurate he is to the comics, even with the changes. An inspired, creative adaption for such a character.
Like Hermes, I always thought the wings were more a “symbol” of his speed and flight abilities. I never knew, or didn’t remember, that they actually flapped. I’ve read stories with Namor in the comics, and I don’t remember them ever showing the wings in a blur or anything like that to insinuate that they were flapping. But I did JUST watch a video about the character right before this one that included an old animated clip and they do flap, just like they are in the movie lol One thing I will say is kudos to Ryan Coogler and Huerta for being able to make a man with tiny wings on his ankles still seem regal, menacing and like a major threat throughout this trailer atleast . How they’re keeping him in the air and upright may be a bigger mystery than how bumblebees fly, but I still think he looked badass when he floated down, and shot up at that plane!
I remember a Marvel comic form early 90s where Nmor's talking to The Thing i think? on top of a building. He flys away and the Thing says -look at those little wings pumping away - or something like that. Basically saying that his wings do flap and propel him.
It looks good but people still wanted T'challa recast. A lot of people in the black community feel there is anti-strong black male agenda in Hollywood, from overrepresenting Black male gay and buffoon like characters and still treating interracial romance between Black male characters and white female character as taboo and not mainstream. Retiring T'Challa, one of the most popular strong black male characters in Hollywood history, so quickly, only fuels this narrative and I have heard many people will not support the movie for this reason and the movie is already gonna struggle globally, going against the soccer World Cup starting in the same month and that event kills box office globally and will effect the North American market too with Mexico, USA and Canada all qualifying.
Admittedly I have no more like to Latino culture than I do African, but I absolutely love the Mesoamerican feel to Atlantis in the film (admittedly the fact I was fascinated by that part of history as a kid probably helps)

But I did JUST watch a video about the character right before this one that included an old animated clip and they do flap, just like they are in the movie lol
One thing I will say is kudos to Ryan Coogler and Huerta for being able to make a man with tiny wings on his ankles still seem regal, menacing and like a major threat throughout this trailer atleast . How they’re keeping him in the air and upright may be a bigger mystery than how bumblebees fly, but I still think he looked badass when he floated down, and shot up at that plane!
Absolutely agree on the wings. It's not like they're practical, I thought they were more symbolic. Made him seem like a deitific character
Spot on with the Hermes comparison. I’ll need to see these in action more before I change my opinion of them being rather goofy
I remember a Marvel comic form early 90s where Nmor's talking to The Thing i think? on top of a building. He flys away and the Thing says -look at those little wings pumping away - or something like that. Basically saying that his wings do flap and propel him.
I figure he's had a few decades to work on the balance thing.
5:15 it flaps in the comics and in animated shows like fantastic four world's greatest heroes
I was looking for you yesterday. Glad you safe and back
The ankles of a dove 😂🕊️
Admittedly I have no more like to Latino culture than I do African, but I absolutely love the Mesoamerican feel to Atlantis in the film (admittedly the fact I was fascinated by that part of history as a kid probably helps)
The best Trailer I've seen in years and the music is so good.
Can't wait for your breakdown. But I think it is amazing and it's going to break the box office even more than we think.
Shuri's BP costume does look amazing
I went online 20 minutes after tickets went on sale and all of opening weekend was almost gone for all premium screens I had to break up our group of 8 in different rows but I got them for Dolby opening night!
I can’t lie ms grace, I was waiting for this for 24 long hrs
Graaaace, we've all been waiting! 🤌
No worries Grace!! I still excited and anticipated your reaction
2 of the best trailers I have ever seen. I'm hyped! Got my tickets for Nov 11th!
It’s was about time, I’ll comment later on the breakdown
Visually Namor and Atlantis is the most exciting thing to happen to the MCU since GotG. No mesh fibre costumes, no Y shapes on everything, a distinct colour palette. I wonder if they got a different concept artist for this one.
Cos those that worked on the first BP movie and developed Wakanda couldn't possibly have done the same with Namor & Talocan?
A lot of females but they were all in the previous movie and Shuri makes the most sense as BP replacement. It doesn’t feel forced. Looking forward to seeing this!
I have waited for your reaction and breakdown for Soo long
Been waiting. Good to have you back Grace
I got my ticket . Seeing it at 3 Dolby only cuz I gotta work that evening . Most definitely will watch again in imax the following Tuesday or Wednesday
I have a very strong feeling that there are multiple Black Panthers here. Shuri, Nakia, M'Baku.
When the trailer came out, I went to your page first, and then I was like oops, not around. You did predict that with ticket sales, a new trailer will be out. Also, got my tickets, Grace, took a day off: reason: black panther day haha. The trailer is phenomenal!!! Ryan Coogler is good.
While I was waiting in line, every premium seats in my local theatre sold out, the whole thing took about 10 minutes. I had to buy a matinee ticket in digital for Thursday - I'm just going to have to see it twice. it can't be helped now.
awww Grace is soo cute :) Also That suit looks badass
Yeah bc yesterday I was like “yo wtf is Grace doing? Why hasn’t she dropped a reaction video yet? I always slide to her channel 1st.” 😂 😂 Appreciate u!
Congratulations, Patricia Wright!
Se looks AMAZING as Black Panther! ❤️
