I like that you posted a drill like this, really appreciate it! If there's any chance we see a couple more of these in the future, I wouldn't mind at all. Thanks, bud!
The best way to kata for WMA is to build your own- look at the leger/poste and how the strikes are done, then design one that works all your fundamentals. Mine covers all of Fiore's poste, all seven strikes, and all three volte of the feet and sword.
if you have enough dying trees in your yard, you can make multiple types of swords. I have sticks that represent a katana, longsword & greatsword chillin on my back porch.
Great drill. What do you think about using heavy and unbalanced training swords like the cold steel longsword trainer? I believe it strengthens muscle groups because of the added resistance but I am worried it's building bad habits.
As someone who has trained with a variety of simulators I recommend doing a one day with the cold steel and the next with a broom handle. Effectively working a variety of muscles that and utilizing a heavy/light cycle to help prevent burnout.
You guys probably tackled this before, but what are the benefits you guys get in your everyday life from fencing except great fun and excellent balance? 😅
quick question. is there a long sword style or technique that is better at dealing with an opponent that is wielding two blades. no shield just a single longsword.
They don't currently have a whole lot of stuff up on line right now. But I'm working with them to put out a lot more content. I'll be linking to their RUclips channel once they're ready for it. If you want to go and chime with them in person, look up "Nachreisen Historical Fencing"
@@SellswordArts awesome! Thank you so much for responding so quickly too man youre the goat. Been watching u for a while cuz i only have a black belt training in kendo, and European swordsmanship is dope. Hope to be seeing their stuff again soon!
I love this channel teaching sword skills, I bought a Katana a while back- not because I'm a weeb and think they're the best, every sword has their strengths and weaknesses - and so I've been using that to practice and train my technique, unfortunately due to it being unsharpened and not heat treated its not sharp but hey! At least i can practice with it, and it's in the design and style of DMC4 (?) Vergil's Yamato (Not DMC5 tho). Alright signing off now, see y'all later internet dwellers!
Depends on the number of guards in the style, the more guards the more movements as attacks in European swordsmanship are supposed to also be seem less transitions between the guards
I don't have a sword. I have a katana. Therefore on step one it would cut through their sword, their body, their ancestors, the universe, and their pet goldfish. But only if I strike with the power of god and anime on my side.
Funny thing is I've seen comments saying sword fighting is easy or make your own style well first off not really you can learn the moves quickly but pulling it off in a spar/battle is another thing entirely and if you make your own style it will still be similar to the basics of most sword fighting this is extra tips from a dumbass the lesson here don't believe random comments unless they have science or proof to back it up

I second that! A couple more beginner exercises and resources would be awesome!
Yes!!
I absolutely agree with the comments! It would be great to see more of this!
Yeah, i dont have access to a sword club so solo drills would be much better than just imagining stuff
Me and my brother gonna have a blast with this using the sticks in the yard
Bro was standing in the back like 🧍
Now THIS is brilliant. No 10 minute intro. No pointless stories. Just info we need to be better.
Been looking for sword drills and things like HEMA kata to practice. This helps greatly. Thank you.

Hey I can actually learn from this. Dude you're brilliant. You leave me with no excuses not to practice now.
the training arc proves itself to be very beneficial indeed
Thank you for your aid in helping me become a Sith Lord!
“If you don’t have a sword that’s fine, anything like a broom handle…”
Me, holding five swords not sure which one to go with
Rotate through them. Obviously!
I met Josh at Toledo war back in like 2017. Really nice guy. Really knows his shit.
Looks great, thanks for the help! I spent my first 2 years of learning gumdo using a swiffer stick, because of covid.
That initial "cut to the longpoint" is nice performance of 'zornhaw'.
Finally a good Video on RUclips. Worth a Like and comment 😊
Cool drills - Looks like the birth of HEMA katas.
I love how much more subtle the blocks are in real swordsmanship vs what they shownin the movies.
Shit I have been doing this as my basic drill since forever. Feels good, man. Love to see it!
Always been interested in sword but never got to actually use/practice. This is gold
Really needed it
Very helpful! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for that !
Blackhills hema literally just did this drill tonight. Funny seeing this come up right after we did this same thing.
Must be one of my favourite drills. Strike and exit.
Thank you so much! I'm doing these right now
Shoutout to the broom handle! I use mine a lot. I also stopped by home depot and got two sticks for $5 each for other systems i practice.
Oh I will use this, thank you so much!
This one also feels amazing with my mace bell, I need to read some of the books I keep buying bwahaha
Thank you!
Gonna use my lightsaber for this!
Would you guys mind making a playlist for these if you haven’t already
Very informative 😊
Could you upload more drills like this its so helpfull
Cool and simple. I love it
Excellent!
That's for another VomTag user. Great for getting a bit into the master strokes.
Did Josh know that this is the part 1 of the first Assaulto from Marozzo's two handed sword?
You're a Bolognese fencer now Josh!!!
Colin just so you know it's all the same stuff 😜.
how did bro stand so still in the back💀
I'll admit, I'm used to him holding a sword on his shoulder that I didn't realize it wasn't until the end.
Holy CRAP do you see the core on that man?! That's a gut that can fight bears. All muscle no jiggle
Just got my longsword in the mail so perfect timing boys
Well this axe I have looks like a sword... guess I can do the drills
Thank you sirs!
Good stuff! 🎉❤
Definitely gonna try this out when I can. Not sure if my parents will be too happy with me using the broom 😅😂
I know this is a really old vid but god i had this on repeat for like 30 minutes as i was trying to match the footwork
Cool ! Thanks !

Classic drill for katana as well, though we execute the movement a bit differently
Me encanta cuando explican técnicas gracias por los ejercicios lo meteré en mi rutina :3/
Wow, this includes the Tree Diagram
He's just standing there.... MENACINGLY
Bros got powerful calves
This is verbatim from the 1st Chase of the Ledall Roll
Yeah if i get a sword imma probably go guard on it
That sounds fun. And I have a katana to do it with. I’m sure nothing will go wrong.
I got a question for the cover: wouldn't it be more efficient to protect your head with the blade, instead of the hilt and hands?
Hey is there anything you know about knife fighting, or is there any sword technique that can translate to knives

Tried this with my Greatsword. I need to work on my strength more...
Dude just invented kata
Hi couple of questions, Why the cover with the point off line? Also why the thrust from hengen rather than long point?
Soooo, basically a kata? Pretty cool 🤙
You guys probably tackled this before, but what are the benefits you guys get in your everyday life from fencing except great fun and excellent balance? 😅
Very, very similar to a beginners 4 point kata for kenjutsu
quick question.
is there a long sword style or technique that is better at dealing with an opponent that is wielding two blades.
no shield just a single longsword.
It flows
Can any type of sword be used for this or does it require swords for fencing
nice!
I see this exact same thing in kenjistu ALOT….
To hone my skills first I have to have some skills.
Is there any way that you could post the link to their website, i really wanna learn more from them

Ahh yes, let me get my Longsword from the 1400's real quick. But seriously, pretty cool 👍

That is what I do, practice with a broom. Mostly because I'm too young and I don't think the country I live allow swords, which is sucks of course.
Where do you reccomend I get swords?
I was so sure you weren't going to explain the broom handle and we're just holding it for the lulz
I have a spear can you show me how to block with it?
Are there European sword forms similar to Wudang forms with 100 + movement's?
Depends on the number of guards in the style, the more guards the more movements as attacks in European swordsmanship are supposed to also be seem less transitions between the guards
I love the fact that Americans seem to do more to protect European heritage than we do. 👍
Looks easy but I just found out my foot steps are horrendous
Who else was worried about him cutting his ear off-
I don't have a sword. I have a katana. Therefore on step one it would cut through their sword, their body, their ancestors, the universe, and their pet goldfish. But only if I strike with the power of god and anime on my side.

Harder than it seems 😅
Where do you even aquire a sword
⚔️
Ngl I solo dem
Wait, that wasn't a sword?
pay attention to the footwork, that should have its own video
Better use zweihandler
Bruh I thought this was regular fencing
Its Josh!
Cut, long point cover cut long point thrust cut cut cover cut thrust cut cover cover thrust cover longing thrust cover cover
I just gonna use my warframe to win!
I used my Pen Island. Does that count?
Why not just use rever-
*dies*
Thank you for beautifully preserved medieval footage of english knights sword training speaking with American accent. Kudos to medieval cameraman
Npc in the back
As a sport fencer, I have no idea what you are talking about
😆😆😆😆
That was so not a long point, that was mor of a standing Pflug without pointing in the enemies face
