Mr. Maltempo it is a great interpreter and for my rejoyce when playing" Les Etudes " it's superb it is breathtaking, his interpretation makes me love Liszt even more, Thanks for this tresure.
In terms of sheer bravado Cziffra remains my favourite, but Maltempo’s interpretations are equally persuasive. Isn’t that what music is about?!And what a shame, not even 2,000 views. Deserves many more. Bravo!!!
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Collin Terrell i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
ACABO DE DESCUBRIR QUE NO EXISTEN SOLO LANG LANG LISITSA BUNITIASHVILI CZIFFRA ETC ETC AH! IVAN BESONOV EN EL MAS COLOSAL GRUPO DE PIANISTAS DEBE INCLUIRSE ESTE BUENO PONGO TODOS LOS QUE ME ACUERDO GLENN GOULD, HOROWITZM RUBINSTEIN, BARENBOIM, ARGERICH, Y TANTOS MAS Y ESTE TAMBIEN NO OLVIDAR SU NOMBRE MALTEMPO Y A MALTEMPO BUENA CARA!!
By any knowledgable standard, including comparisons to Cziffra ,Horowitz, Kentner, others, these are extraordinary interpretations by Maltempo.I shall acquire.
24 Hungarian songs (Magyar dalok) but only 19 of them are rhapsodies. Similarly with spanish songs(Romancero esoangole s695c, grosse konzertfantasie uber spanische weissen, El contrabandista, but only one spanish rhapsody)
An unfortunate and ill-conceived interpretation of the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsodies. Between the stuttering "stop and start" execution and his "The Little Engine That Could..." tendencies, the melodic thread largely gets lost and distorted. Although I admire Maltempo tremendously, I am struggling to determine if he is eccentric or simply immature. There is NO doubt he can play the piano, however! I applaud your hard work, Vincenzo!
For another opinion of Maltempo's interpretation, I strongly recommend: www.gramophone.co.uk/review/liszt-hungarian-rhapsodies-complete and also: www.classical.net/music/recs/reviews/p/pcl00108a.php Thank you for posting these performances! :)
Thank you ever so much for the additional insight! I am always eager to hear a variety of opinions in order to learn more about the artists and their interpretations.
Yes. Had no idea he recorded these. So used to listening to Szidon's recording for YEARS. Didn't realize he passed in 2011 so time for a new recording
Nice and romantic interpretation of the great Ferenz
Wow! The last few minutes of No. 2 were breathtaking!
An excellent pianist!! A great performance!! Bravissimo!!
Favourite transcription of No. 2, such delightful build up near the end like a fusion of Rachmaninoff and liszt with the inner lines.
HE MADE HIS OWN CADENZA AD LIB.! TRULY AN ELITE VIRTUOSO!
00:12:59 No.2 my favorite one!
N2 is fantastic! Maltempo definitely has brains to follow a very complex melody

Why is noone talking about the nineteenth?! It's absolutely spectacular! There are more rhapsodies than N2 and N6 people!

Rakoczy March should be the Hungarian anthem tbh.
I'd prefer fewer tempo changes
aren't there 24?
