- The thermostat was not responding. When I removed the batteries I found there was no low voltage. I found the breaker was tripped and I performed a visual inspection and found the run capacitor for the blower motor had fallen out of its holder and shorted to the casing.

That reminds me, the house Mom bought several decades ago had some behemoth unit from the 50s that ran on well water. It had to be a water-source AC (it still used natgas for heat). Warm water was expelled to a spigot outside, so we always had a hose and sprinkler connected, and moved it around the yard every day. We had the greenest lawn LOL! That unit started giving her grief in 2000, so it was replaced with a typical split central air unit (that's still going)
