Fantastic video! I love how organically you created the mission statement and code of conduct with your students. They were so involved in every step of the process. Our district adopted FPC for our reading curriculum. I've noticed that students are struggling during independent reading time, too. I love the engagement survey. What do you plan to do with it after you have observed the kiddos for a bit? Will you conference with them about it?

I get to school an hour early and leave work at 3:45. I make the choice to not take work home so I have learned to be good about how I use my time at school.

I am the exact same with the slides. Idk how people manage that, it's so much easier to just pull things out.

I was wondering what all you do with the information you gather in the engagement inventory. Is this for conferences for goals and picking books or do you actually use it for a grade? Also where did you find your reading scenarios?

I hope you have a great year! I moved schools and grade level this year as well. I went from 15 years in elementary to middle school 😱. We just finished up week 3 and so far it has been the absolute best decision ever!!! It is strange that your schedule changes so much and you don’t have specials every day. Very weird. You seem to be Adjusting well to your changes. I’m happy for you!

i live in south africa and seeing your grade 4 learners finish at 3:45 is so weird to me. we start classes at 8 and finish at 2!! seems so late for little kiddos to finish at 3:45
