Just did mine. Thanks for making the video and taking the guesswork on where to pry. I had to pry both sides of the map light bulb contacts/clips closer to the center as the old bulb was wider and fatter. First time I installed it the new LED it just fell out. Otherwise, simple mod with dramatic difference in brightness.
Does the LED dome light slowly dim-to-off after you have exited the vehicle? Most LED lights dim very poorly and shut off completely partway. The slow dim to off feature gives the truck a more high-end feel, or at least relative to a 2005 model year.
Thanks for commenting. Surprisingly enough, the main LED door light does dim on and off. There is a bit of flicker but it’s not an instant on and off. Cheers.
Hey, nice video. I found I was able to get a thin flathead screwdriver and pry the back of the bulb down for the map lights. Do you have LEDs for the sunshade mirror lights? looking to upgrade those as well
Okay, I just changed these out... These little bulbs are a pain in the ass to get out due to such a tight area to work with. Tried the blue tape cushion on the needle nose pliers. NOPE ADD DID NOT WORK. Take off the latex gloves as they do not work well with duct tape. Go ahead and back wrap the needle nose plies with strong duck tape. Grab a hold of the bulb firmly without breaking the bulb and wait a second( 1, 2 and 3) and yank it out. Worked perfect with the glue action on the duct tape. Reapply the gloves for installation of the LED bulbs... Lesson learned!
@@MikeFreda I have a 78 fj40. Runs well, fairly clean. Putting Signaw PS on currently! It's not a rock crawler, but it's not a $50k+ vehicle either! Enjoy your 60, and thx for the led advice for my Tacoma!
Any idea why my newly installed LED dome light will only come on while the key is in the ignition? Light wont come on during entry until key is inserted. Tried flipping direction of install, no change. 1st gen tacoma
No clue why. That is really odd. I would have to look at the schematic to see how its wired. Either there isn't enough current flow to trigger that part of the circuit or there is a grounding/backfeed issues when the key is not in. Does it work properly with a normal incandescent bulb?
Some LED bulbs are built in a way that they measure the same resistance and draw the same current as regular bulb so they work properly. I suspect that may be the issue here. The bulb you have may not compatible with the standby circuit. I had one that was stayed slightly on all the time. Not clue why.
Unfortunately, I can’t help you there, my Tacoma doesn’t have vanity lights. That being said, I’m sure the area pops out and you can see what bulb is in there and find the LED equivalent.
Straight to the point, thank you. I changed my OEM dome light to the MESO Customs. It took me longer to find a tool.
Thanks for the comment! Cheers.
Don’t forget that LED lights only work in one direction. If you install a light and it doesn’t work try swapping orientation
Thank u!! Lol saved me from some awkwardness

Thanks for the guide. Direct and to the point.
Thanks for the info !! I wasn’t sure how to do the map lights. !!
Glad I could help! Cheers
thanks - great video!
You’re welcome. Thanks for commenting. Cheers!
Any issues with fuses popping?
No, never. These LED’s draw less current but they do get a bit hotter. Cheers.
To pull out the map lights you can just wrap a piece of tape(sticky side around the light) and just pull it out that way.
Thank you been looking to replace my other led lights someone put blue ones in and have been driving me nuts.😁😁
Glad I could help. Cheers.

Thanks. Glad it worked out for you. No, I did not touch the visor light.
Thanks, so simple

Wow thanks a lot! Worked out real well for me. Was about to give up till i saw ur comment :)
Excellent video, thank you
Thank you and you’re welcome.
Thank you thank you so much for your help
Why is there no “door” option for the front of the truck? Only the back. Makes no sense and bothers me in my truck lol
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks 🙏🏻

@@MikeFreda yes , put in the old bulb, works fine

i think the map light and door light links are the same can you update the links i wanna buy both lights for my truck
Yes, you are correct. Link fixed. Thanks for catching that!
As an ex drug addict, that light cover would’ve been a perfect hiding spot
Oh, okay. That good to know. Cheers.
