Thanks: your mini concerts are like therapy in these days. Something solid like the local coffee shop that stayed open during our initial lockdown when everyone closed; I love these people, and feel an Infinite Gratitude.

First time I heard her voice 18 years ago, time stopped at that moment and all was calm with me, I wanted to figure out how this chic could do that. Today, it's still that way and I ain't trying to think it through, just welcoming back that feeling.
Same. Funny story. I used to drive a taxi in las vegas. Nights. Pretty much everyone who got in the cab were well past being tipsy. Some were obnoxious. I learned if I kept my Norah CD playing on the stereo, it had an amazing effect. Literally everyone was just chill and listening. It never, ever failed. That's something.
18 Years ago I was 18. I'd just got home from College, this was in late Janurary, in Worcester, England, and I was soaked through. My folks told me to get my wet cloathes off and put them in the boiler cuboard to dry. and then go have a quick shower.
I remember vividly using toilet roll to recover my hearing as the shower had clogged them. The bathroom was still too steamy and my glases were a bit steamed up as well, but I was impatiant for something I can't really remember. I had just cleaned my ears and thats when I heard the last minute or so of don't know why.
The first thing that struck me was her voice, I never heard anyone quite like it. At that time I was slowly transitioning from typical pop stuff to music with a bit more "bite and substance" to it. Which meant I was discovering things like OK Computer and Wonderwall, and seemingly limitless other cool albums from great British bands I had hardly paid attention to, yet also still listening to pop stuff such as Atomic Kitten and the Coors. Well Norah, I didn't know her name at the time, made those girl band singers seem like trivialities. And that was after less than a minute and a half.
So for the next month, every evening around that time my ears were peeled to the radio, and my finger poised on the record button for the tape I had set to go. It had become my mission in life to find the owner of "that voice" as I had begun to call it, in my head. And in that time all other things became trivial, as I had found out about something that to me, was monumental. Every time that song came on I recorded it. And every time I longed for the radio presenter to say her name. And every time I was blown more away by her voice, and grew more annoyed at the radio, I felt like something had been pointed out to me but no one would say the name of this unknown yet incredible singer. And then 3 weeks in, the radio presenter did.
Two months later I finally got the album. And I became this obscure young man keeping to himself outside of lesson hours, with my cd player within the inside pocket of this duffal coat I liked back then, and earphones rammed in my head. I'm not going to say Come away with me was the only album I had, because it werent, but if I was listening to it and someone asked, and they had no idea who she was, welI i tried to keep that knowing smile to myself, but I felt like I was holding a diamond. And to this day I happen to still believe that!
I just melt when I watch and listen to you. I really loved that last one. I love you dear.
