To Pimp a Butterfly is one of the most layered, complex albums you’ll ever hear. I love how much you two appreciate his artistry in the same way so many of us do.
The beautiful thing about this song is it doesn't matter if the homeless man is actually god or not, his point still stands. By being selfish and greedy you can argue Kendrick loses a spot in heaven or atleast decreases his chances. Even if you don't believe in a Religion his point stands, heaven is all just one big metaphor for being happy with yourself, doing the right thing morally and giving away a dollar makes you feel good, gets you closer to happiness ( Heaven ). That's the true beauty of this song, in pointiancy but still slight vagueness.
The Vision as good a song as it is, i don’t think you can fully appreciate it outside of the context of the album, Blacker the Berry can be seen as more stand alone

When we are unwilling to give to those in need, that person in need could be the most important person you could ever meet. How much does a dollar cost?
It could also mean that you are given an opportunity to go to "heaven" only once. Someone or something will happen in someone's life that will allow them to achieve wealth, power, or respect and evaluate to a new level in life. "Heaven" is seen as something where someone gets what they've never been able to have. For most people its wealth. For some its women, and for some its power. I mean the list goes on, but what I think Kendrick wants to tell the world is that you will be given a chance atleast once, and opportunity to change your lifestyle and be given a chance to obtain things never before was obtainable. All at a cost of giving up something small. Weather it be a small investment, or a small help to someone, or helping a chairty, being part of a movement, etc.... “Be careful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.” I believe this is conceptually what Kendrick is conveying. Although complex, the story is straightforward. Basically, he pulled up at the gas station and a bum asked him for a dollar. Kendrick wouldn’t give it to him. He was unwilling to do it because he judged the man’s character by his appearance and thought the dollar would go wasted on drugs or alcohol. Turns out the man was an angel/Christ/God in a terribly lowly form and by not giving him a dollar - an insignificant amount of money - Kendrick (or the character he is portraying) loses out on his opportunity to bless the MAN and thus loses out on salvation. My two cents.
Well, for me I'm African-American from the South Jazz is like breathing for me, Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, Neo Soul, it speaks to me because I grew up with this and having an ear for it. It is amazing that Hip Hop something that was started in a small community that often America ignored is now given to the world. It impossible, every day the rawness that we get from any culture out of the pits of hell is just the impossible in life. We are all pushing the impossible, what humans can do is brilliant even something as speaking lyrics over a beat and calling it Hip Hop!!! Impossible.
for real bro. The rhyme scheme he uses in the first verse is by FAR Top 3 best rhyming I've ever heard in my life and honestly the best rhyming Kendricks ever done in my opinion
You guys should just listen the whole album "To Pimp A Butterfly" of Kendrick, it's a all time master piece that every rap fan and people who wants to discover rap should lisen...
I didn’t think Simon was ready for this, but I was wrong. I love his growing appreciation for lyricism and storytelling. You should also react to “For Free” with the lyrics and meaning cause it’s definitely not about prostitution lol.
TPAB is lyrically the most genius album I have ever heard. I could make a hour long video breaking the album down and still miss shit. it's incredible.
u should react to A Tribe Called Quest ( literally anything it's all amazing) and Wu Tang Clan ( probably something from 36 chambers is best as an introduction to the Wu).
I remember listening to this song and immediately thinking that Kendrick was remembering a story from the Bible where Jesus comes to save people during the rapture, and he asks people if they gave him food and housing and visited him in jail because he was all those people who were going through that, and ultimately that’s who he decides to take to heaven. So Kendrick loses his spot by not helping the homeless man. Anyway really enjoy these reactions keep it up guys.
Is anyone else's fav Kendrick song complexion? Like I love almost all his albums and love every song on tpab but complexion has like consistently been my favorite. I feel like it's ridiculously underrated and super creative and beautiful love everything about it rapsody killed it too
Stop suggesting Mural, that song is way to complex. No disrespect to anyone but most of Lupe's hardcore fans couldn't decode that song furthermore these guys that just started listening to rap.
Great video guys, really liked how you did the research right in the video to broaden your understanding, this is what listening to good music is all about!
U is the single greatest Kendrick song, at least in my own opinion. The emotional range he hits is unbelievable. It, along with TPAB redefined what hip hop is capable of for me.
Allijah G.O.A.T trust but if I had to pick one just say solace, wide range of sounds, also more recent display of earls work, and really helps hem understand him as a person, hol tight Earl hope he pulls through and gives me the album I need to get through my own shit
The first time I heard this was the first time listening to the album. He was talking about Lucy, temptations and sins all over the album. And when that music ended I paused and made that face of disbelief. Started to think about my life and how was dealing with ppl. It changed a lot to me, a part of me is a little bit better cause of this song, and that's what defines a genius to a fraud. Thanks for the reactions, u guys are getting better in your ability to catch complex lyrics haha salute!
I have the same reaction to this song, Mortal Man, and Sing about me every time I listen to them. They always make me tear up because they are brilliant, thought provoking songs.
Many fans interpret Kendrick’s last four albums as him playing on four different mediums of media. His Section 80 album being a Book, GKMC being a Film, TPAB being a Poem, and his latest album DAMN being a Screenplay. I’d recommend that you give the albums a full listen again after you do maybe 3-4 tracks from each, as in perspective the brilliance of his music is even more apparent. Love you guys, keep up the hard work, as for recommendations and due to the fact you mentioned Lupe, I’d love for you to listen to Jump from his latest album DROGAS Light, it’s a lyrical, upbeat track and has a little story to it.
To pimp a butterfly is a story in Kendricks way of his journey through the music industry. There is a podcast called dissect that takes apart the whole album, I really recommend giving it a listen.
The inspiration for this song is an amalgamation of Kendrick Lamar's real experience on his trip to Africa and the Bible story Mathew 25: 31-46. Amazing piece of art by Kendrick. One of my favorites next to "Sing About Me, I'm dying of thirst", Which is one of the greatest songs ever written.
This song is deep but simple to understand. There’s no layers here, only a giant parable. It’s perfect as it is and one of the best hip hop songs to ever exist.
I just want to say I enjoy watching your videos because the look of confusion on your faces gets me every time. But then it turns into curiosity, then yall digest and respond. I love your whole process. Thank you.
“For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25:42-46
You gotta listen to TPAB a couple times to admire its beauty! First time I heard it I was expecting Good kid maad city 2.0 so when I heard it I didn’t like it. Now I feel It’s his best work so far and that’s saying something cause everything he’s dropped has been fucking amazing.
You guys should really watch and react to his short film “God is Gangsta” , it’s a mashup of a few songs from TPAB and the songs combined with the artistry of the video itself is amazing
I’m amazed with the progress simon has made in regards to how he listens and appreciates the lyricism since when you guy’s first started doing these videos.
Kendrick will most likely be considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, however hip hop heads, especially the older ones hesitate to bring new rappers into the conversation until they prove their longevity (10-20 years in the game) e.g. Jay z or they create timeless music that impacts the future generations e.g. Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Wu-tang.
I'm pretty sure he's already created timeless music that impacts the future generations. Especially considering rappers with that talent are less common now, I reckon all the best rappers in the future will probably be influenced by Kendrick.
I interpreted this as Kendrick explaining the classic scenario of seeing a homeless person who's clearly on drugs. 2 things about that, on one side it shows somewhat of a flaw in his character with the greed and second is it really a "good," deed if you give a drug addict more money to feed addiction. Then when the homeless man comes to a religious end he says that a dollar could cost a spot in heaven meaning he's stuck between giving a drug addict their money which he knows is going towards funding his vices and at the same time feels like it's a test of faith by God to show charity. Fucking amazing song, deep introspection, and thought provoking analysis of an extremely common event
As someone who’s been subscribed to this channel for a long long time, I just want to say I’m proud of how much respect you put on a lot of the more artistic rap songs by going in depth and trying to understand what they are saying, appreciating the music and always keeping an open mind.
I just love the growth from you guys. It’s cool to see you guys analyze what the rapper may have been feeling when they wrote it and also the excitement you guys get when a bar makes sense. It makes me think about when I first heard the track years ago and the overwhelming feeling of relating to the song. You guys rock!!!
Actually amongst even many old head they put him in the GOAT convorsation much more then anyone from his generation. Hes up there with; tupac, biggie, eminem, nas, jay z, rakim, etc
Jesus Suarez yeah i was hesitant in putting him in but in terms of hiphop legends in general and the amount of classics hes made i hear people putting him in that convo all the time! Maybe not AS much by the older gen tho
Living in america you pick up pretty much what hes saying because you would have recognized the lingo hes using, after a few times youll really enjoy this song and find yourself going back to it in different parts throughout life
I think you guys should react to the whole album at once. Each song ties together, and I think it's taken better as a whole. I understand that means you won't be able to get to other artists for that recording session, but I think in this scenario it would be worth it. This is some of the best hip-hop ever created.
Simplethegoat lmao don’t even I’m sick and tired of listening to the retards on the internet heralding anything kendrick does as a classic. He’s so fucking overrated it just amazes how so many are brainwashed by mainstream media. He’s so lucky to be in era where most rappers have zero lyricsm so when k dot comes and starts rapping with meaning people jump on the hype train. TPAB is mediocre and very very poor attempt at being a protest rap album and kendrick fails terribly and being a political socially conscious rapper. Dead prez turn the radio shits on this album, killah priest, immortal technique, Paris, public enemy one have all spoken far deeply on similar matters but only until mainstream media sucks the dick out of aftermath as they’ve always done they herald as a classic. For it to be such it has to be the best in its field which is truly isn’t hell its far from it I feel bad for the rappers I listed been far superior but only because they don’t have Dre behind them their shit will never get the recognition it deserves. Ever since he signed for Dre I knew what was gonna happen goodbye to true hip hop like his section 80 album and now it was time to ride social waves to make profits. Fuck mainstream media I’m sick of it one day people will realise how overrated kendrick is can easily name 25 rappers better than that guy. Damn was shit, TPAB was mediocre, GKMC was good definitely not a classic, Section 80 was great
So glad this video was on my recommended! TPAB is personally my favorite album of all time and I really enjoyed hearing your guy’s thoughts on this masterpiece. Looking forward to watching more of your videos! Kendrick is in the Top 5 of all time.
The Blacker the Berry next please! Also the best thing about this album is how Kendrick makes it all tie together with the poem throughout and themes it's really a true masterpiece.
Totally agree. As much respect as Kendrick gets he still deserves more. The man is so ludicrously good at making music it's mind boggling. His music transcends hip hop.
I would say if your going to do a full kendrick album do good kid maad city. It's much more easier to listen to than to pimp a butterfly. It's a storytelling album and tells his upbringing in Compton. It's a short film basically and also enjoyable to listen to straight away. Phenomenal storytelling
@@justjayceeok99 I find most people who listened to other genres of music and who are older enjoy to pimp a butterfly more than general hiphop fans. But just by watching these two I don't think they would enjoy it as the first album they heard from him. The production would be kind of off putting maybe
So I have an interesting story about the first time I heard this song. I was a bit late to the listening party for To Pimp A Butterfly. It was a 2017 morning after a large part of a very busy highway overpass burned and collapsed, here in Atlanta. The culprit for this unimaginable structural destruction was said to be a homeless man by the name of Basil Eleby, for which he was accused of starting a fire that soon ignited the tons of stashed polyethylene pipes that resided under the structure. Those who previously passed by this stretch of highway were very aware of this stash the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for years. Mr. Eleby eventually would get the arson charges dropped and GDOT was in part deemed responsible for knowingly storing highly flammable materials in that area. On the morning drive into work, I'm giving TPAB a full listen and How Much A Dollar Cost hits my car stereo. I was mesmerized by the parallels of the said event with a homeless man wrongly at the center of the story and this masterfully crafted Kendrick track revolving around his encounter with a homeless man. How Much A Dollar Cost was looped on my playlist for just under 12hrs...straight...from the time I first heard it that AM. Kendrick is a living legend.
The way Kendick's albums work is they are stories and all the songs tie in together and its much more powerful and put into context if you listen to them all in order
Cantu maybe not as much but dont act like its not up there. In terms of story telling its the best you can get and it brings alot of other genius things

Good Kid MAAD City is one of my favorite albums of all time. When I first heard it, it immediately hit hard and like I knew it was brilliant. First time I heard To Pimp A Butterfly, it didn't have the same effect. I didn't particularly care for it. Thought it was a big step back from GKMC. I gave it some more time, came back to it a few times, and then started to see how crazy good it was. The whole album is incredible, it grew on me more than any other album has come close to. Glad you guys enjoyed it, excited to see more
To Pimp a Butterfly is definitely an album that transcends it's genre & leaves Kendrick in discussion for the greatest of all time. This was the moment in his career that made people really consider him as a once in a lifetime act in music & if you weren't looking at Kendrick in that way, you either just weren't listening to him or you were just being stubborn and not give his credit where it was definitely due. Even given how brilliant "How Much a Dollar Cost" is, it's not one of my favorite but even a song not my favorite on this album is still a pretty fantastic song. The track you guys were joking about earlier is a fantastic interlude called "For Free." John, you might've thought that way about that song then but I guarantee you if went back on it now, you'd have a have an even bigger "WTF" moment hearing that again and getting what it's really trying to tackle (And oddly enough, Simon, your prostitution comment wasn't too far off). Honestly, you guys should definitely listening to "The Blacker The Berry", "U", or "King Kunta" next. You won't be disappointed with either of those three.

Turns out the man was an angel/Christ/God in a terribly lowly form and by not giving him a dollar - an insignificant amount of money - Kendrick (or the character he is portraying) loses out on his opportunity to bless the MAN and thus loses out on salvation. My two cents.
Kendrick Lamar - DUCKWORTH.
Underrated song and a fucking good one
You can't appreciate duckworth until you listen to the rest of the album, as much.
@@Sk8foxx wish i could listen through damn for the first time again to have my mind molested by Duckworth at the end again.
YES such a good song with a twist. Such good story telling its insane.
YES PLS
I think he's slowly earning the respect of the older heads. I'm 51 and this is my favorite Kendrick song. Simply brilliant.
FRANK OCEAN, JAY Z , and TYLER THE CREATOR - BIKING
D'Andre McNair yes
D'Andre McNair underrated request
D'Andre McNair yes

KENDRICK - *THE BLACKER THE BERRY*
I know you guys don't do full album reactions but you should really consider one for TPAB or GKMC, it's worth it
Saharabeats Am I worth it? Did I put enough work in?
They need to do "Sherane"... such a flawless intro to GKMC

Impossible.
The commenters have spoken; you need to do The Blacker the Berry
Also, Momma. Please do Momma
Yung Murakami Momma is one of my favorite songs OAT.
The Boy trust me man that second verse always gives me goosebumps
Yung Murakami such a timeless and peaceful song
The Boy lol mine too that’s song is too underrated
for real bro.
Definitely. Top 10 album ever don’t @ me
Simplethegoat Why should we hate you when you are saying the truth 🤔
The only albums that can compete with tbh are Illmatic, Madvillainy, makaveli, gkmc, MMLP, and yea that’s it lol
L overrated as shit
owned powned Looks like someone doesn’t understand the album!
I didn’t think Simon was ready for this, but I was wrong. I love his growing appreciation for lyricism and storytelling. You should also react to “For Free” with the lyrics and meaning cause it’s definitely not about prostitution lol.
Lamar House yeah I heard him say that shit and was confused asf
LMAO i was reading the comments to find someone say something about it
I wish they would react to "Sherane"...
TPAB is lyrically the most genius album I have ever heard. I could make a hour long video breaking the album down and still miss shit. it's incredible.

u should react to A Tribe Called Quest ( literally anything it's all amazing) and Wu Tang Clan ( probably something from 36 chambers is best as an introduction to the Wu).
would love to see them react to protect ya neck or CREAM i also throw Joey Bada$$ in the ring
Please react to 'u' by kendrick lamar
PLEASEEEE

Easily my top 5 favorite Kendrick Lamar songs of all time
BEST SONG ON TPAB fight me
Yes!!!!! Best track!!!
"What can we say, just ridiculous" - phrase most said on channel
Is anyone else's fav Kendrick song complexion? Like I love almost all his albums and love every song on tpab but complexion has like consistently been my favorite. I feel like it's ridiculously underrated and super creative and beautiful love everything about it rapsody killed it too
Not my favorite Kendrick song but still an incredible song. Hell does Kendrick even have any bad songs lol.
You know I'm ten toes down even if masta's listenin
I love that song so much that the little interlude before Rapsody's verse is one of my favorite parts of the whole album.
I feel you , i listened to that songs so many time just to understand more and more of his bars incredible song , and the feat. Was perfect too
I love all his songs, but Complexion is such a poetic song and it has so much meaning and history in the lyrics.
Lupe Fiasco ( Hurt Me Soul, Put You On Game, Mural, Prisoner 1 & 2 )
Stop suggesting Mural, that song is way to complex. No disrespect to anyone but most of Lupe's hardcore fans couldn't decode that song furthermore these guys that just started listening to rap.
R F They trump to decode it and react to how much complexity the lyrics have
They should react to mural although it is very long and complex the point is react to it not decode it
Lupe Fiasco-Game Time
I agree, I also would like to see their reaction to Dumb it Down
Great video guys, really liked how you did the research right in the video to broaden your understanding, this is what listening to good music is all about!
FRANK OCEAN- Nike’s, self control, solo, Siegfried !
Nights and white ferrari too
@@marioj3987 They've done Night's
WildFox my bad,sorry
U is the single greatest Kendrick song, at least in my own opinion. The emotional range he hits is unbelievable. It, along with TPAB redefined what hip hop is capable of for me.
Earl Sweatshirt ( Burgundy, Hive, Whoa, Hoarse, Faucet, Grief, Solace )
Jaryd Larsen just solace
pappyohcrappy they honestly should just listen to all of them
Chum
Def Grief
Capital Steez - Free The Robots
Damn classic!

I have the same reaction to this song, Mortal Man, and Sing about me every time I listen to them. They always make me tear up because they are brilliant, thought provoking songs.
No More Parties in LA - Kanye ft. kendrick
Andrew Medina the head still good thooooo....the head still good though.
PLEASE DO THIS!
Hell yea
They not ready for that track yet.
Incredibly slept on track
this song is so amazing man lyrically conceptually and sonically
That's really interesting
Ah, Obama's favorite song from the album
btw, definitely not a banger nor is it one of the most well known TPAB songs
This album is a masterpiece and the greatest not just hip hop but greatest album regardless of genre of this decade.
To pimp a butterfly is a story in Kendricks way of his journey through the music industry.
There is a podcast called dissect that takes apart the whole album, I really recommend giving it a listen.
You should do ‘The Blacker The Berry’, best song on TPAB in my opinion

Aquemini - Outkast
I want Simon to hear the whole album. It's really an experience...
LOOK OUT FOR DETOX!
a really intense rapid fire aggressive old kendrick track! Kinda like denzel style
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
fireeeeee
Omg YES
This song is deep but simple to understand. There’s no layers here, only a giant parable. It’s perfect as it is and one of the best hip hop songs to ever exist.
React to The Art of Peer Pressure by Kendrick
I just want to say I enjoy watching your videos because the look of confusion on your faces gets me every time. But then it turns into curiosity, then yall digest and respond. I love your whole process. Thank you.
Do more from to pimp a butterfly!
King kunta
Alright

Those have a MUCH different vibe from any track of him youve reacted to
“For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25:42-46
Listen to "u" and "Hood Politics" by Kendrick
Ronnie I think Hood Politics would be pretty difficult for them to do without having to constantly check the meaning of certain slang
And the "interview" at the end, but they don't know the album was initially gonna be called tpac/to pimp a caterpiller/to pac/2pac.
Absolutely not. u ties too heavily into the theme of the album and serves more as an interlude than a song.
Mortal man by Kendrick Lamar. Why don't we have more request for this song?
You gotta listen to TPAB a couple times to admire its beauty! First time I heard it I was expecting Good kid maad city 2.0 so when I heard it I didn’t like it. Now I feel It’s his best work so far and that’s saying something cause everything he’s dropped has been fucking amazing.
Same for me, it got better the more I listened to it
It's the only album i like by him, it was definitely his peak for me
Definitely takes more than 2 listens, there’s so much depth
The F I agree TPAB is legendary and his best by far but u don’t like GKMC, damn, or section 80?
You guys should really watch and react to his short film “God is Gangsta” , it’s a mashup of a few songs from TPAB and the songs combined with the artistry of the video itself is amazing
And here's the bulllshit- he won the Pulitzer for DAMN. but not for TPAB...
Don’t sleep on DAMN shit was anther excellent album, but TPAB is way better lol yea it is confusing
Leo got an Oscar for the revenant, same shit
True he deserved it for tpab but damn was amazing as well
DAMN was dope as well tho but I see what you mean
I’m amazed with the progress simon has made in regards to how he listens and appreciates the lyricism since when you guy’s first started doing these videos.
Kendrick will most likely be considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, however hip hop heads, especially the older ones hesitate to bring new rappers into the conversation until they prove their longevity (10-20 years in the game) e.g. Jay z or they create timeless music that impacts the future generations e.g. Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Wu-tang.
most old heads already accepted Kendrick tho. he got the new and old fans
React to some kid cudi, soundtrack 2 my life would be a good one
As someone who’s been subscribed to this channel for a long long time, I just want to say I’m proud of how much respect you put on a lot of the more artistic rap songs by going in depth and trying to understand what they are saying, appreciating the music and always keeping an open mind.
You should check out some of kendricks more accessible songs aswell like king kunta, money trees, swimming pools, poetic justice
Nah Kanye should not be in that conversation. Definitely not for his lyrical ability.
Kanye?? Definitely shouldn't be in the list. He's more known to be a great producer rather than lyricist.
Jesus Suarez yeah i was hesitant in putting him in but in terms of hiphop legends in general and the amount of classics hes made i hear people putting him in that convo all the time! Maybe not AS much by the older gen tho
There i took him out cause i guess we kind of are talking lyrical ability more than anything but i wouldnt put jay in there either
@@ezraprzytyk I understand. Andre 3000 is definitely up there as well.
Sing About Me by Kendrick is amazing
They did a reaction already. ruclips.net/video/3mhaLB4Q0-4/видео.html
J Cole - 4 your eyez only
Living in america you pick up pretty much what hes saying because you would have recognized the lingo hes using, after a few times youll really enjoy this song and find yourself going back to it in different parts throughout life
I think you guys should react to the whole album at once. Each song ties together, and I think it's taken better as a whole. I understand that means you won't be able to get to other artists for that recording session, but I think in this scenario it would be worth it. This is some of the best hip-hop ever created.
Factssssas
Huge L TPAB is the most overrated album which is pure mediocrity
owned powned Looks like someone doesn’t understand the album
owned powned Also the most overrated album ever is All Eyez on Me, Makaveli’s better
Listen to “i”, “u”, and “blacker the berry” by Kendrick
Nah they just need to listen too the whole album lol
Simplethegoat true
The Blacker the Berry next please! Also the best thing about this album is how Kendrick makes it all tie together with the poem throughout and themes it's really a true masterpiece.
Childish Gambino - Me and your mama !!!!!!!
Meir Khassidov the best song of that album!
the guitar on that song sounds like the ghost of Eddie Hazel ! love it
Totally agree. As much respect as Kendrick gets he still deserves more. The man is so ludicrously good at making music it's mind boggling. His music transcends hip hop.
Travis Scott- drugs you should try and hell of a night. PLEASEEEEEEE
Drugs you should try it has been requested for almost as long as black friday was
You guys are hip hop heads by now 😂
iCrimy no.... no they're not.
Not yet. Not even close. Still quite a Lot to learn, if they're even up for it.
I would say if your going to do a full kendrick album do good kid maad city. It's much more easier to listen to than to pimp a butterfly. It's a storytelling album and tells his upbringing in Compton. It's a short film basically and also enjoyable to listen to straight away. Phenomenal storytelling
true. TPAB takes someone whos main genre is rap to truly appreciate
@@cantu7214 yhh it's not the first kendrick album you wanna listen to. It took me a while to enjoy it.
I wanna see their reaction to hearing "Sherane"... such a flawless intro
TPAB actually got me into rap lmao
This may be the most anticipated episode ever.
The way Kendick's albums work is they are stories and all the songs tie in together and its much more powerful and put into context if you listen to them all in order
The art of peer pressure is like this in terms of philosophical brilliance but its from good kid maad city
the art of peer pressure cant compare to this lmfao wtf
Cantu maybe not as much but dont act like its not up there. In terms of story telling its the best you can get and it brings alot of other genius things
Cantu fuck yes it can. The art of peer pressure is phenomenal. Though I'm not as crazy about how much a dollar cost as everyone else.

I‘m one of the biggest kendrick stand of all time so I know what I‘m talking bout. You gotta listen to „i“ and then to „u“ in one video.. crazy how these songs fit together in this overall brilliant theme.
Glad you guys enjoyed it, excited to see more
Quil you should check out the Dissect Podcast analysis of TPAB
