This is PERFECT. That's all I want. I'm too old, dumb, and stupid to sit down and learn a real pedal steel. My dear old friend, Harry Hess, who played steel (and guitar) for Doug Sahm down in Austin in mid 70s (See, "Doug Sahm, Live from Austin, TX videos here on YT). Watching him play, I know what a difficult instrument it is to learn. I'm 62 and don't have that time. LOL Thanks so much.
I love how the design of this instrument. It's like someon stripped away all the "guitar" from it and tried to make it into a different family of instrument.
Just got mine and installed it! So excited! I've played with it for a couple hours so far and I love how I can adjust it to fit my palm and my style. The result is a bender that's extremely natural to use with precise tuning!!
i want to build my own lap and buy one of these. i first seen davids video many years ago and i put together an attempt at making my own string bender using a cheap childs electric guitar and driving some screws in behind the bridge and turning the string 90 degrees. with a simple hinged arm i was able to bend the string, but i would only get a song and a half before the string snapped because all of the bending tension was concentrated on one spot, i see davids ingeious design pulls the string by its length. i really need one of these lol
Hi David. Your bender is awesome and I may buy one. To put on my 1937 Rickenbacher bakelite laptop. But, you said that the tuning is "G B D G B D". So I'm confused. Are you not tuning to G B D F# A D and then "bend" the F# to G and the A to B? Straighten me out kind Sir.
These sound amazing! I have a lap steel with the Lollar string through pickup installed, do you know if there is enough length to the bender handle to clear the pickup or am I out of luck? Thx!
just considering a Lap steel... Great playing!!! This model has 1 single coil P/up doesn't it??? Looked at the Epiphone since it's cheaper and I've never even played one but I'm a Tele fan... any advice for a 50 y/o newbie??? Books or lessons you might reccommend?
Lovely piece of engineering. I am seriously thinking of putting one of these palm benders on my lap steel. Is there any problem in fitting one to a Gretsch lap steel G5700 ? I use a G tuning GBDGBD. On which two strings would I place your palm bender?
Hi John , thank you for the compliments, no problem installing the bender on your Gretsch, the bender is placed on the two penultimate strings, G and B

Hi, The tuning is Emajor E/ B/ E / G# /B/ E
I would love to instal one this bender but my guitar has no space , how many inches do I need ?
What bridge are you using? Is it flat, or does it have a 12” radius?
Very impressive. Fantastic sound!
