When Dr.J announced his retirement he is so beloved that that every team that he played against gave him so much credit and respect for the game and the way he played and his classy way of sportsmanship
By no stretch of the imagination am I saying that 6ft 7 Dr J would ever beat 7ft 1 Kareem one on one but is only chance at even being competitive would have been his athleticism which was not even nearly what it used to be when tis mismatch took place
First of all, J wasn't supposed to play K, it was supposed to by Wilt, but he backed out late, so J for the sake of "the show must go on" stepped up. Second, if it was a full court game rather than a half court game, J would have a much better chance simply because he would out run K. J made a habit of dunking on K when they were playing in the NBA
One on One vs Team Basketball are two entirely different games. This is like a Race with some race car packing a V8 vs a 4 Banger at the 24 Hours of Lemans.
At the 7:50 mark: "....hoop on the side of a barn in Indiana ..." I wonder if he is referencing Larry Bird there? :) And basketball was invented by a Canadian. I'm just saying. :)
Both these guys are class acts.

Kareem may have decisively won this, but Dr. J. was an amazing ambassador for the game of basketball - such a classy guy. Love him!
Doc and K were both special
But i admit i loved Doc
YES💪🏽🏀
Dr Jay is A Top 10 player
The doctor🖤🖤❤💯👑👑👑
Man.. It feels odd to watch this video and see them as I remember them towards the end of their careers.
Kareem was a center so obviously that was a massive mismatch
I don't know if you saw the game but it would have been much closer with a 27 year old Doc and a 30 year old Kareem. That's just my belief.

Kareem is like 7ft5 bro ..look at him next to Ralph Sampson
John wooden said the “greatest center to play the game was bill Walton, when healthy”
The doctor was out of breath early in the matchup, he retired years before Kareem and the cigar smoking didn't help him either!!

The Match up Should have been Dr.j vs George Ice man Gervin that would have been a better match.
One on One Kareem crushes Jordan or James too.

@clarencebanks1953 ...I SECOND EMOTION!!!
We all know Dr. J DUNKED on Kareem and on a fast break Kareem couldn't touch Dr. J. This thing was rigged. Even Kareem had to think before he did it.
