Really enjoying this series with you and David Elstob. Every day’s a school day they say and I have learned a lot watching you two talking about the various pieces. Some militaria would be nice, as I particularly like the back stories that often go with the item. Have to say my estimates were way off but fun having a go. Hope you and yours have a great Christmas and look forward to more content in the New Year. Do have a suggestion for some videos but perhaps leave it for a future comment. Best wishes 👍👍
$ 300.00 for the tea set a wee bit off= $ 500 for the biscuit box - Lalique ( a favorite of mine) $ 800.00 so not my best day. Lovely as always Merry Christmas and a very happy healthy New Year
Hi D& D, Christmas Eve here in Oz, what a gift to have a new episode tonight! Not a fan of the tea set, although fascinating to learn so much about it. I gathered £145. Way off. It fetched a handsome price! Impressive! Oooooh that silver 1905 art nouveau biscuit box-how gorgeous is that…don’t know the weight of the silver for the silver value, but I gathered £825-so quite close! Oh R. Lalique! The Eucalyptus vase, the blue colour, simple shape…took a punt at £1200. Thank you again and Merry Christmas! Shae
Wonderful idea for a show! Really have always wondered at how auctioneer;s value items. I got 1 out of the 3 (the 2nd one) probably by luck more than talent. What about items which are "out of favor" at this time, such as Staffordshire figures and Wedgewood Jasperware? How do you value such things that May have been higher 10- 20 years ago?
Yes it’s surprising how the market changes. People think antiques values only go up, but in many cases they go down! We’ll definitely be covering Staffordshire pieces soon!
Tea service .... I was thinking 80 before he started talking and 150 afterward. Better than the auction house did but not by much. Someone wanted that! The consigner probably about hit the floor. Where I live the 80 would have been about the limit. The Tudric chunk of pewter ? It wasn't sold in the USA (and this American wants to know "what's a wafer, beyond Communion wafers, and why would one put it in a box?") The name's magic, so I thought 600. Low again. The Lalique is another magic name. I thought 1000 pounds or close to it. Rather high. ( BTW - was that a bit of Moorcroft sitting under it on the shelf? )
Just discovered these videos and they are great! Fantastically informative, and both gents present really well…..keep them coming!
Thank you…more to come from David Elstob
Fantastic video, thank you for sharing 😊 ❤ 😀
Thank you for watching!

Belated festive greetings to David & David. Sadly, on this latest valuation quiz, we were miles out on the hammer prices. Maybe next time.......🙂

When a person leaves a bid with the auction house do they start at their lowest bid and their highest?
Should be the lowest
Didn't see that China going for 100
I said 500 for the vase.
