  • In British English both of these weapons would be called broadsword in their period, however the sword Nick (left) is using is a typical Scottish Highland type of basket hilt, and Rick (right) is using a British 1796 pattern heavy cavalry officer's sword, which in many languages would be called a pallasch, especially as these British heavy cavalry swords were copies of earlier Austrian pallasch models. Nick's sword is a Black Fencer Steel Generation Broadsword. Rick has a custom guard by Kraken Swords with a Castille broadsword blade. Both of these training swords have the exact weight, size and handling characteristics of original swords and as a result are big heavy swords compared to many other lighter types that were also in use during the same period.
