This video is going to be on getting the speedometer working, mainly the speedometer cable. The original one was broken and that left part of it stuck in my original speedometer. The one thats in the truck now is from the 69 F250.
I ordered a few different speedometer cables from LMCtruck and even though one was the exact replacement(which I didn't realize at the time). That meant a trip to the junkyard! to see if I found something I felt better about. I also ordered a few different speed gears so lets see which ones the most accurate.
The correct(exact replacement) speedometer cable is. The one I used was out of a 71 F350 and had a threaded end to the speedometer which I felt was more secure.
    LMC part number
    47-2022 “E” C6
    Fits 68-70 F100 & F250

Nice old truck man, hope it's still rolling and keep it in that rust-reducing garage!

Thank you! Out in the driveway right now, have another truck in the garage I’m working on but hopefully back in her home soon.

Nice. My 1984 F-150 351W needs some TLC (and quality fuel if we can find it in Maryland...). A toast to the nice old Fords.

Did you put a dab of grease on it when connecting to instrument panel?

No but I probably should have, your mentioning for the speedometer cable right?

I pulled my cluster to replace lens. When I reinstalled cluster my Speedo now bounces. What could that be?

I’m not sure, mine does that was well more noticeable at higher speeds vs slower. I’m wondering if then ends need to be greased a little before putting it back on.

What LMC part number is the cable that ended up working? It looks exactly like what I need to order.

I’m not sure to be honest. The one I ended up using I pulled from a junkyard. The correct one that was an exact replacement to what was on the truck was the one with the white clip(part number 47-2022). I preferred the junkyard one because the part to the speedo I was able to thread on vs a clip.

Would the speedometer cable fix be similar on a 1975 ford e250? Will I also need to add that last part that you added to the cable?

I believe it would be. There are some different style speedometer cables between theses for trucks from 68-72. I would think Ford used similar parts on the vans. The plastic gear just depends on the gearing in the rear end.
