    Thanks I will give this a try. Where did you get the LEDS for it? Also did you use the sandpaper after all?

      Try out LMC truck parts for the LEDs. The sandpaper I used was 1000 grit to 2000 then 3000 and then I polished it out with a 3M 2 stage kit.

    Very helpful as I am converting my 72 Ford Ranchero to LED's. I have the same issue with the fading on my gauge plastic. In your video you didn't say what you did to fix it. You talked about polishing first. Did you sand and polish or just polish? I polished mine and it is way better but not as clear as I would like it. I'm not sure if sanding and polishing will remove the fading. My turn signals are not working...yet. I bought all my lights from Super Bright LED's. I bought their Flash modules that mount into my fuse box under the dash just above the high beam foot switch... that didn't fix it. They suggest installing an inline resistors at each light front and rear. I don't know if there is a turn signal module anywhere else... Thanks in advance for any help... I subscribed too.

    Looks great! I was wondering if the dash lights are still dimmable, or are they wide-open always? Also, can a dimmer high beam indicator bulb be obtained?

    • @coleminorkustoms8594
      @coleminorkustoms8594  3 года назад +2

      Yes they will dim down. High beam light will not and it’s bright at night.

      @@coleminorkustoms8594 I was think about those tail light repair kits. Some come with small sheets of red translucent plastic. Multiple layers of that or something similar, cut to fit, may darken it some.
      Thanks for the reply.

    Thanks for the video. About to do this to my '71. As of right now none of my dash lights work; except the little indicator for when my headlights are on. I do have a question:
    You mentioned testing the LED lights when you screw them in to see if they need to be flipped. How do you do this without reinstalling the dash? Thanks again for the video. Looking forward to the subscribe & videos to come.

      Tyler Howell unfortunately you do have to plug it in (just the harness) to check the lights. Also make sure the dimmer know works with the bulbs you put in. If the led want dim they maybe to bright at night.

    I have the same cluster in my f250 just wondering did you end up polishing and sanding the glass? If so what steps and did you wet sand? Also can you just use led's in the dash without the relay? I kinda like the old school lights outside just want to make the dash clearer

    • @coleminorkustoms8594
      @coleminorkustoms8594  3 года назад +2

      I used 1000 grit to 1500 to 2000. I then used a buffing compound and then a polishing compound. I use 3m products, stage 1 and 2. My buffer is a set up kit from harbor freight. LED lights do require a relay because of the lower voltage used.

    Thanks for posting. I'm going to do the same to my 69 F100. I want to keep it original but upgrade to the LED lights. Its hard to hear my turn signal over the engine and headers though. Is there any way to make them louder? Are yours louder or it's just the engine isnt running as well?

    How did you get your hand back there to unplug/unscrew stuff from gauge cluster?

    • @coleminorkustoms8594
      @coleminorkustoms8594  Год назад +1

      It’s very tight, if you know someone with small hands will definitely help. Don’t pull on the cluster to hard it could damage the connectors.

    i was wondering what year is ur truck? I have a 70 and some of the gauge cluster is a little different

      1971, yes some clusters are different with different options. For the most part the connections should be about the same unless someone has gotten into it before and changed some things.

    Did you have to disconnect the speedo cable from the gearbox so you could pull the cluster out enough to unplug everything? I can't get my hand under the dash, and the cluster doesn't want to come forward enough for me to get to everything.

    • @coleminorkustoms8594
      @coleminorkustoms8594  3 года назад +1

      No, I had enough slack on the cluster to pull it out to disconnect it.

      Im late to the party but I ended up running into the same issue as well. I can barely get my hand in there but not enough of my arm to reach the Speedo cable. I’m wondering if I’m able to keep pulling to make enough room without causing any damage? Was the slack enough to get in there pretty good? I appreciate the help.

  • @ralphwood8818

    My instrument cluster is a disaster 76 f 250 . The plug in is burned up. Speedometer reads low. Instrument voltage regulator isn't working right. Writing on the back indicates it came from a salvage. No salvages around here have any. Someone comes here from up north and buys all the old trucks I'm told. Be nice if I could find a new one with the socket for the wiring harness. I might see if I can find a Crown Victoria cluster and modify it. Not trying to keep it origional. It's just a work truck.

      Tyler Howell toggle with your dimmer knob. Twist it back and forth to make sure there’s not short. Sometimes doing this will cause them to cut on and off if the dimmer portion of the light switch is going bad.

      Cole Minor Kustoms yes! There must be a short. They came on & got brighter as I turned left but I have to have it in the right location to remain on. Thanks! I also need to switch about half the LEDs cause only about half are working. I must’ve put them in backwards. Thanks!

      @@tylerhowell3615 the headlight switch has springs that wear out that can also cause the dash lights not to come on or dim properly I guess technically you can call that a short 🤔 I like the 67-69 instrument cluster vs the 70-72 ones with the circuit board
