I started collecting as a kid in the 80s. TMNT was and still is my favorite property, but I collect more than just TMNT. I loved going to Toys R Us and KB Toys as a kid and seeing all the new merchandise.

For my 8th birthday, my mother handed me a stamp book. I was excited by the cover decorated in gorgeous stamps from the good old days. With no knowledge of collecting then and with the expectation that I was about to feast my eyes upon a rich assortment of vintage stamps from the world over, I opened it up to reveal empty pages, much to my shock and dismay. I thought, is this supposed to be funny? tossed the book on the counter and stormed off in a huff. Today that book is full and so is my toy chest!
Oh and I also believed apartment complexes were luxury hotels.. Everyday on the way to school from our house, we passed by one and I just thought how poor my family is because they must have room service, a pool, breakfast delivered to your door, etc. which at the time, was exactly what I had come to expect from such a building since that is what I knew from our vacations abroad.
I was a very naive child..
Collecting toys is important because I have it on good authority that if you die with the most, you win.
Ok maybe not, but they are fun to organize, show off, are wonderful conversation pieces, bring back fond memories, thrilling to hunt, play with and make you feel so privileged to have things which are a small part of history!

I started collecting cause of RUclips videos which I imagine is what caused most people in my age bracket to get into it
