The song was written as part of a legendary musical battle with Derrick's friend and former producer, Prince Buster, referencing many of his own hits and those of his sparring partner.

The backstory concerning how Prince Buster and Derrick had a musical beef is wild. a lot of interesting danceable numbers came out of it, and Derrick outlived his nemesis in the end, although I've never been able to trace the photo of them both shaking hands to say the rivalry had ended.
Had this on a Beverly's reissue in 80's. It is the biggest hit single ever to come out of Jamaica.

The Chinese at the beginning says "Shut up fool" and this song is Derrick firing back at Prince Buster for writing Blackhead Chinaman after Derrick left Busters studio and went to Leslie Kong earning $20 a song as opposed to $10 from Buster :) Both great tracks

Madness ripped off this song on their debut album in 1979. Listen to the song called "Madness" on the "One Step Beyond" album. They copied the melody without crediting Derrick Morgan.
