I don't like this particular scene from the OVA. Chosen depiction (both in VA direction and art) lessens the impact of the moment. Meanwhile, 2015 version has Dio howling as he's launched across the street, with his face hanging onto his skull with a but a few strings of flesh and literal craters blown through his body. His inhumanity is highlighted here, as his injuries don't just look lethal. They look like they are not even supposed to happen on a human body. And, while that may be me reading to much into this, considering the usual attention of author to human anatomy, it might have been another conscious decision to show just how much of a monster Dio is. He received supernatural injuries, he's flying across the street like a missile, and yet his howling is triumphant. He's winning. He knows it and he's absolutely gleeful.
The English voice for Dio in the OVA was pretty good. Not sure why he sounds a bit American though. Maybe being in the ocean for so long gave him a mid-Atlantic accent! (badum-tss) He also gave us "An oil tanker for you!"
I like the animation in the 90s even if the blood is a bit silly. The animation in 2010s is much better though, as much as I would prefer to say older animating techniques are better (they are certainly more interesting), that is just not the case here. The biggest difference is the VA. The Japanese are on a whole other level of VA'ing these days, and it's been getting better and better for 30 years now. The West has a lot to catch up on with it corny fucking superhero language localizations
The animation is definitely not better in the 2010s one, only the graphics/art style might be better but the 90s ova definitely had more fluid animation.
I find it ridiculous we could’ve gotten norio wakamoto for DIo but possibly due to scheduling or no interest we got the driest acting for Dio in the ova.

The first half of the OVA, whose last episode is featured in this video, released in 1993. The second half with the new animation style released in 2000. The dub of the OVA and the Western home media release it was made for were the only things related to it produced in 2003.
The ova did many things better than the dogshit 2015 adaptation (all the other DP jojo parts are really well made) like artstyle, atmosphere and many soundtracks, only good thing about the new anime is the voice acting and some soundtracks.

He also gave us "An oil tanker for you!"
The OVA dub also gave us this gem:
*"Does this street look familiar to you? Or being the tourist that you are do all streets look the same??"*
The ova version literally has no emotions to it💀

I think the fights were better in the new adaptation, plus voice acting and action
Like polnariff vs vanilla ice is better in the new one
Plus the new adaptation actually follows the manga, but this is my opinion
