Cool music and video Brighton! That’s my stomping grounds los Barriles. Been taking my vacation there since 1980. Awesome town and now my grandkids are enjoying it. Thanks again for video and we love your channel 🤙😎
Love the music Brighton. I couldn’t stop dancing when I was watching the video. Also, thank you for pointing out this store. My wife and I were walking in an identical place in Los Olivos California. We thought to ourselves look at all this great place but we couldn’t buy anything because we couldn’t ship it to Los Cabo’s. Well, now we can go to the store in Los Barilles
Definitely check out El toro y la luna! I noticed online that there are two locations pretty close to one another. I'm guessing both places have better prices than "north" California ;-)
Next time, I encourage you to indulge yourselves at Taqueria El Viejo. It is our favorite. Thanks for the head’s up on the furniture store. We, somehow, missed that on our last trip.
Hey Brighton : We have friends from home that spent 3 months in Los Barriles this winter. We visited for 3 days and left for our rented home in La Paz. Didn't enjoy the vibe at all. We ate at the same beach restaurant that you did. Definitely on a slow to slower pace. The owner is a Gringo who keeps things hopping a little, when she's there. Loved La Paz for our 3 months, and meeting you two a couple of times at the place on the Malecon. Buen Viaje A Portland cuando as tempo. We'll be back to La Paz next year after spending a couple of months in Nayarit & Colima. Saludos
i love Los Barriles, the big store you mentioned (cow and moon: El Torro y La Luna) it is one of the reasons we travel there from Cabo, we prefer this store to Tienda 17 in Los Cabos. Bunea Suerte, good night
I definitely like Torro y Luna, but I still like Tienda 17 better. You never know what you'll find a Tienda 17. T&L is more curated to be in good taste ;-)
Hi Guys! Those stores looked amazing 👏 and great price on the custom lamp wow. We didn't make it to Los Barriles this past trip....something to look forward to next time. We absolutely have fallen in love with La Paz and El Centenario, can't wait to get back at the end of 2022 🏄♂️⚓☀️🌝
So miss my Rav-4, but my daughter and I got 12 years from it. She drove it high school, college and pharmacy school. I figure that was better for the environment than getting her a new one! The info on Los Braille’s is fantastic!
Always better to drive an existing car than buy a new one (from an environmental perspective.) The RAV4 is great. Our RV is in the shop today. Crossing my fingers.
I agree with your assessment of Los Barriles based on my quick trip there last month. It's too xpat for me - same for Cabo and Todo Santos. I like it over here in La Paz better TBH. Hasta Luego!
They are! Furniture is hard to come by (without paying an arm / leg) in the Baja Peninsula. I'm hoping to fly over to Guadalajara to check out the furniture markets there.
FYI Re Transmission. If you do not have a Transmission cooler get 1. If you have a small 1 get a bigger 1. You are driving something with all the aero dynamics of a brick.
Turns out the only problem was a little switch on the outside of the transmission (which a different shop had already replaced, but used the wrong replacement part.) I just discovered I have a transmission cooler and the shop thought it was in good shape. Thanks!
Cool excursion. Loved the bright colors of the various pieces in the store . Totally agree on the less expats side of things. It affects so much. Do you have any guess on what those quads go for ?
The "side by sides" where people get to sit next to each other start around $10k USD used and around $20-40k USD new. Needless to say, we don't own one. We bought a 2003 Toyota RAV4 for $5000USD and it gets us in and out of most places (but I'll be releasing a video soon showing when we could have used an ATV...)
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico Smart buy ! Also, smart buy not buying something new and flashy ! For theft and robbery reasons. I just don't understand our gringo brothers who flash wealth ! Almost darwinian... Low profile is the only way to go...
Just tired of these kind of gringos who always looking the cheapest way in 3rd world, here some tips to live in mexico, real state is not necessary you can deal directly with owners (they dont bite ) real state always overvalue their properties also selling in USD at Mexico, real states in baja sur mexico are monopolizing and destroying La Paz, they already have destroyed Cabo and Todos Santos privatizing public beaches and protected areas to replace with condos, hotels and golf courses we are running out of water for population in this state, now they go to La Paz, and Los Barriles with their paradisiacal propaganda.. Are you want to be part of Mexico and their communities? directly support the locals, avoid US real states, amazon, cotsco, home depot.. baja sur is not las vegas or hawaii.
I just spent the winter there. Most people would love it there, but I felt like it was a gringo town where expats tried to bring their life with them and hang out with other gringos. Not for me.
Yeah - it's interesting. One of the ATV owners told me he took his ATV to La Ventana and was scorned by the locals (expats and Mexicans.) It seems each place has it's own ethos. Both are wind-surfing towns, but one comes with ATVs and the other is free from ATVs.
Thanks - I have a royalty free music account and this popped up when I searched for Mexico. I'm hoping to get some original music from musicians in Mexico in the future!

Thanks for writing Joe. I definitely like La Paz better than Los Barriles. Good place to visit, not to live. See you next year! Enjoy the mainland.

Glad you're planning your trip back already! Los Barriles is a fun town. Next time we are gonna rent some 4x4s and take an offroad tour.
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico sweet, sure it will be a blast.
the bean toss game is called corn hole. I'm from the midwest and I moved to Eastern Tennessee where they play this game at most outdoor venues.
Thanks! I don't know why I can never remember the name of this game.... wait... maybe it's because the name of the game makes no sense!
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico hahaha that's what I said. I've seen a few venues in Cabo San Lucas with this corn hole game.

Los Braille is the premier spot for any blind gringo looking to retire in Mexico.
Love that drive!
Yes! It's gorgeous Cheryl

Yup - I prefer Mexico with a side of gringo, not the other way around.
nice furniture stores!

Thanks y'all. Happy Easter back to you too!
Great video, and I appreciate you two destroying the climate for our enjoyment 😋
Anything for you ;-)
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico thank you sir
I’ll second that!
Love this content. Try Carlene cook Lokey at homes and land of Baja for a tour of Los Barriles great lady for your next LB video
Thanks Aiden - I just reached out to Carlene!
Hope to run into you in LaPaz. Next winter
Cornhole. That's the name of that game. I wish it weren't. But, it is. 😥
Hah! You’re right! It’s also known as Sack Toss… which isn’t much better…
And actually La Paz is attractive to me because it is NOT overrun with foreigners.
Me too
I think I saw a madmax atv rolling in
Lots of those down in Los Barriles!
FYI Re Transmission. If you do not have a Transmission cooler get 1. If you have a small 1 get a bigger 1. You are driving something with all the aero dynamics of a brick.
Thanks for that suggestion Dave. I hadn't thought of that and it seems like a pretty inexpensive item.
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico Well that and make sure it's full of the right type of Trans. fluid. Yes different manufacturers like different "red stuff"
Turns out the only problem was a little switch on the outside of the transmission (which a different shop had already replaced, but used the wrong replacement part.) I just discovered I have a transmission cooler and the shop thought it was in good shape. Thanks!

So, for some parts of Mexico I've heard that you don't drive at night, is that the case in Baja Sur or more the mainland?
Pretty much all of Mexico you don't drive at night. Mostly because you could hit a cow.
Ups 😬 If you don’t speak English…. I little mistake 😬
Don’t worry be happy 😆
A little mistake * now was my mistake 😂😂😂😂
But I finally found a reason to use the "tire screech" sound effect 😬

Yeah - I kinda had that feeling too. Good place to visit, but too gringo to live. I hope you find a good match!
East Cape Clinic has Dr.s and dentists.

Yes! Thank you!
ATVs everywhere is a total turnoff. How good is that for one's environmental heart?

Pickleball at Tres Palappas
I wish I had checked this out! Next visit it’s on the list.
Is that Mexican music? It is excellent.
