The interface on this thing is in a class of its own. As someone who does a lot of sound design I really appreciate how streamlined it is, especially the modulation. Don’t underestimate the importance of having a godd overview of what’s going on.
They’re not trying to be Hive, Serum, Phaseplant, Vital, Novum, Pigments, etc It’s easy and intuitive enough To allow for sound design to become part of the production process. Twin 3 is arguably a candidate for the best subtractive synth to use in the heat of a production. It’s probably not going to limit you with a lack of modulation options, but neither will it overwhelm you with a huge and complex mod matrix, when you’re trying to set up something simple. It doesn’t stick to the limited feature set of the classic famous synths, as many plugins in this category do, but it does have the durability to sound good with minimal effort. Modulating modulators, components have their own presets, each osc has its own dedicated filter. It’s basically a Pro-Q3 inside of a subtractive synth. The XLFO can allow for controlled FM synthesis and also, at very high rates, provide more AM/Ring Mod type results, step sequencing, sample and hold, and effects. 64 voices! Scala file import, Per Oscillator Polyphony, so much more. XLFO could easily be its own plug-in. I’ve been sequencing up to 7 instances on high quality, and 11 on normal, on my iPad without issue. I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it 🤷🏽♂️
Good review! It’s a great sounding synth imo with a really satisfying sound. However there aren’t enough osc types or variations in the sound. I also think Fabfilter should have put full versions of their effects like Pro- R as that would drastically increase the sound design options and probably would have increased sales on their other plugs.
I just went live with this, going through all of the presets...general consensus is 5/10. It has a nice UI, decent controls, but against synths like Phase Plant, Pigments 4, and others... Fabfilter needs to really step it up, in the sound department. The competition is fierce, and you could get far more, for far less.
It’s also out on ipad now. Having this on ipad is a big plus. I think this synth is better suited for ipad, because you can touch the xy pads and sliders right from your screen. It’s a beast if you compare it to other ipad synths.
It seems to be a great synth. But there are a lot of synths on the market, and a new synth really needs to be awesome. Personally I will use what I already have, don't need another synth.
it an easy to understand learn & use visual synth, more possibilities can be a hindrance, its just missing a decent sampler slot with loop points and wavetables
No CPU hikes for me in my M1 Pro. I pulled the trigger as I had loyalty + intro discount so it was not too bad. I think the presets are pretty solid and it has a sound. Good vst in its own right. I own diva and others which sound more vintage but this is a different vibe.
I have been using Serum for so long I don’t know if I want to spend money on another soft synth. 😅It does sound pretty good though 🙏🏾thanks for the Vid Ave!
I need a plugin with Thorn vst arp and glitch section and serum wavetables....NO INE HAS MADE IT YET, WTF!!🙈 Icarus 2 came close but the arp and glitch section is OK...IMO
The osc and filter sound quality has been improved significantly - filters have been updated to use the new filtering engine from volcano 3 which can run oversampled. There are 2x more oscillators (with ring mod), 2x more polyphony, an FX section with compression, reverb, delay, chorus, etc. Lots more changes - I mean in this video he crops off part of the GUI which shows the new arpeggiator, oversampling, polyphony... But just remember Twin is a virtual analog synth like uHe Diva - not something like Serum, Pigments, etc.
I stumbled upon this synth by accident and immediately, I was turned off by the GUI...but out of morbid curiosity, I visited their website & downloaded the trial of Twin 3.There wasn't anything special about it sonically and though I sometimes enjoy simplicity in synths(such as UJAM)...well, Twin 3's GUI is utterly retarded & it just doesn't inspire me to explore & tinker. I then thought...this VST is a real piece of sh*t, so I was curious about the price(not really expecting it to be expensive.) So....I clicked on the "buy" button and it seemed to only be available through a bundle pack which is $899...really? I literally could not find a way to find Twin 3's price. I then Googled it and Sweetwater has it for $129....what a sick joke. What's really amusing about this synth, is there was a guitar instructor demonstrating the Twin 3 at an AES convention. :D :? :hihi: :dog: :scared:

I love this synth. I use it for most of my sounds. You just have to learn to use it properly.

The only exciting thing about this particular fab filter drop is the potential of a Dan Worrel vid - something that’s always a bit awesome.
lol facts

Yeah I was like fugg it
their filter combined w their fx (verb) amazing sound. glad theyre freshening it up. ty
The eq section is definitely the highlight
I liked the original Twin back in the day. Lots of great acid style sounds.
I definitely made 100s of beats with it. I wonder if my old license can be used to update.
@@AveMcree worth a shot!
Looks ok, not sure I need another software sythersizor as I don't use everything I bought already, a bit like software sythersizor GAS or SAS?
2:24 you should be able to reset any control by Ctrl+click like on any other Fabfilter plugin.
It’s also out on ipad now. Having this on ipad is a big plus. I think this synth is better suited for ipad, because you can touch the xy pads and sliders right from your screen. It’s a beast if you compare it to other ipad synths.
That’s a huge plus
@@AveMcree it’s also priced way lower… €30 $25. But as you said, it can be cpu intensive so you probably need an ipad with m1 to run it.

could you explain the similarities with Diva a little more in depth please?
Sometimes values go back to zero when you ctrl click??
Idk I didn’t test it but thanks for the advice

Try Rapid.
Worth $20 for the iPad version but I’m good with Alchemy in Logic.
It's ok, I will stick to my twin 2 until they fix that cpu issue
But you can get Zebra Legacy+Zebra HZ+Zebralette+Zebra Packs for $100!
Damn, I keep forgetting that I purchased the Hans Zimmer collection
Outside of the UI doesn’t seem like much of a difference from the previous
Yeah it’s not much to talk about. I honestly got bored during filming 😂

I personally don't see a reason to get this if I have serum...
Because it was Serum before Serum. Funny enough, it’s cheaper. That would be more relevant if there weren’t free plugins as good.
Free plugins? As good you say?
@@kdotldotsdot3430 Vital is very capable and free
@@kdotldotsdot3430 Vital.
the pricing tho, it s just copy and pasted software, Not physical materials or production overhead to justify ,,
It’s hard for me to get excited about software anymore.😂
its ok , just get analog
Yeah not using this thx ave it’s mediocre tbh snd there are many dope vst synths to get busy stay dope my friends
Agreed. Not sure why a co like FF - which has single-handedly taken over the EQ and Compression game - decided to keep this product alive.
