New to your channel. How often do you have to sharpen your tools? Do they last more then 1 horse? I have not done any searching for answers yet, but I assume the hoof grows and the animals don't get hurt by you taking off so much.
Me, a person who knows nothing about shoeing horses but is curious and supportive watching videos, learning the basics from this guy even though I’ll never use it: “ah yes, now it’s time for the clippers to make hoof not owie”
Still can't over the fact that a horse hoof is one big nail.
Greetings from South Houston.
idk but this is so satisfying to watch. my new favorite channel.

I refuse to watch any other horseshoe channel but yours. Your videos have captivated me during this quarantine. I even subscribed! Lol. Thanks for the awesome content!
My back hurts from sitting on my chair for too long i can’t imagine what this mans back has been through

I’m so early and so happy you’re uploading again I need S&S in my life please upload as frequently as you can
Thanks! I'll do the best I can.
I’m jealous I can’t get a pedi right now, but this horse can 😅😂
Amazing work! Bless you for handling these creatures with such loving care.
Thanks
When you’re digging at the hoof like that it kinda looks like you’re carving up a coconut. 😀
I am originally from Louisiana. Transplant to NY 15 years ago. I watch shoeing as it soothes anxiety. Cooking episodes and acne clips soothe too. I am not sure of the psychological mechanism, but it works.
Than you!
Fresh shoes for the horse, and a fresh video of the horseshoeing for the people.
Just what everybody needs.
Amen
This gotta be hell on the back, i can't even imagine doin' it. Which is why i watch a cool dude on RUclips do it :))
I hope you are up to date with your Tetanus booster given all the sharp tools you use and no gloves!! Be careful sir, I enjoy your videos
I enjoy watching you do your work. It is so relaxing for me. And you are so careful with the horses to make sure you don't hurt them. Your videos are my favorite shoeing videos I've watched others but always come back to yours!!! Stay safe out there. :) I'm from South Central Kansas.

Hello sir,i from malaysia
I hope everyone safe from corona....i love your video...
Why do i enjoy watching this!!!
glad you like it
Hey Sir, I don't know much about horses but I love your videos. Could you explain what is going on here, and how different types of shoeing effect the animal in different ways? Thanks for the videos
Hey thanks for watching. I explain what I'm doing in this video: ruclips.net/video/wV3EtEFU1ng/видео.html
I know it doesn't hurt the horse when you are touching the hot shoe to his hoof or he wouldn't let you do it, but was curious if you are just checking for size when you do that or does it help the hoof at all by maybe sealing the new trimmed edge. Sorry if that's a crazy question, obviously Im not at all skilled in this but love learning about different trades like yours. There is no way I could do your job with the bending over so much. My back couldn't take it. So thankful there are people like you that handle the physical pain to take care of animals. Someone needs to be buying you a massage for every holiday & birthday, you deserve it! Thanks for sharing your videos. 🙂🐴💜
Anyone see how much bigger his nail clippers are than ours
Duh😂
Great video greetings from northeast IOWA
Yay it is a new video🐎❤️
I love this so much! You are so good!
You are legend man
Thanks
Love the content, keep it up. You’re so close to that play button man!
How do you know if you’ve accidentally overclipped a horse’s hooves? I’ve never seen this done before and it’s so satisfying to watch.
these videos are so satisfying and interesting to learn from.
saying hey from NC👋🏽❤️
This is really cool that you do this for the horses, btw I’m watching from Seattle

I am satisfied
Cool
I have horse that race we put shoes every 4 weeks
I started watching the instuctional version before i came to this one because i thought that this one would be better because of the things we see here that we dont get to see in the edited version but it turns out that the voice over edited version is more my thing. With the voice over i get to understand the process and the reasons behind the things you do where as here i just feel confused because i have no idea why you do things.
I know on your previous videos, that there have been doggos who’ve stolen bits of a horse’s hoof that you’ve clipped off. Does the hoof hold any nutritional value for the dog? Also, I know you’ve seen plenty of dogs, but have you ever had a cat winding his/her way through your legs begging to be petted? I watched the shorter version of this video, but what’s the black rubber looking thing for?
May i suggest you should talk what it is and why your doing it. Like deeper grooves at level 7 kinda of thing . Cheers mate Texas.
check my channel I have another video explaining what I did with this horse
Where's a good dog when you need one? (To clean up your hoof shavings for you!) Hi from NJ!
woow that was realy cool, can you teache me all that.
it would take a while
Hey Sheldon, I admire your work so much. What is the brush that you use at the end that puts the conditioner on? I am trying to find one
it is just a sponge sanding block
S&S Horseshoeing thank you 👍
You do nice work! Do you have any videos where you put on plastic clogs or your opinion on them! My horse just turned 30 he has cushions or ppid and he gets lame he's doing better walking more break over just like some feed back! If anyone can reply! Thank you very much 😊😊😊
I have used clogs for founder and it wouks great! not sure for cushions. your farrier would probably know best
Brother, don't Mix the sound Please ,
Loves your passion bruh😘😘
This might be a dumb question but do you spend time with the horses before you start working on them? Or are they just so used to it that anybody can come up there and start grabbing it their feet lol
Hi! What is the hoof made from ? And what is it a build up of ? 😊
can someone explain how he can cut off the tip of the middle-part of the hoof which I, when I was a kid, was thought to be like the toe of the horse with nerves and such. Like how doesn't it hurt the horse when he cuts it like that? And if that isn't the toe then what is or where is it?
I think you are taling about the frog? if so it is not sensative and sometimes it needs to be trimmed up like the rest of the foot. if I go to deep it can hit live tissue for sure. hope that answers your question
do you ever show ur face and love ur vids
What kind of material is under the plate of the shoe?
Ever thought to try the new nailed horseshoes?
?
@@maverick_vet nail-less horseshoes sorry dumb audio-correct
Hey! I know this isn’t related to the video, but was wondering what your opinion is on formahoof, I’ve seen them all over the place and they seem like a really cool concept, but I don’t know enough about horse/hoof health to know if they’re actually good or if I’m falling for the marketing ploy
I don't know enough about it do you have an opinion. I have heard it's pretty pricey though. I wouldn't be opposed to trying it
S&S Horseshoeing I think it looks very cool, and it’s great that there are different styles. It’s interesting that you can put a shoe in it without harming the hoof wall so if you don’t want to put a shoe again you don’t have to wait out the healing process, but I’m not sure of how durable they are, and if it allows the foot to breathe, if it gathers humidity and how it works with the foot growing, I’d love to see a video of you trying or seeing how it works, because I really respect your opinion. Btw I’m from Argentina:)
@@Vale-nh6ey quisas un dia tendre el opertunidad de usar el formahoof. vivi en el sur de Chile por 2 anos.
S&S Horseshoeing Nice! I’ve never had the chance of visiting Chile. We’ve always made fun of them but now they’re doing better than us lol, their accents still suck though :p
How do/did horses in the wild deal with problems with their feet?
Wild horses are on the move all the time and since they are, it wears down their hooves to an Okay length
I know next to nothing about horses but what is he scraping away from the hoof?
Wish there was no music. Just like to hear the wind and rasping etc.
Would love to see your camera setup! I assume it’s just strapped to your head? Viewing from Missouri!
I'll show it in a future video
S&S Horseshoeing Thank you so much! The videos are amazing!
You should show us the horse your working on!☹️
How hard is knifing out the sole? Is it like scooping ice cream or harder? From NY
harder. but sharp knifes make it easier
👍👍👍👏 one question what's that's plastic material ? Epoxyd ?
Hey thanks for watching. I explain what I'm doing in this video: ruclips.net/video/wV3EtEFU1ng/видео.html
@@maverick_vet thanks now i now you make BIG works 👍
Can't the point of the nails, sticking out of the hoof, injure the horse or another animal, if it rubs against it?
Oh - I see you are bending or breaking off the tips of the nails with the hammer, which are protruding through the hoof. AND rasping the hoof...
and sanding...hahaha AND pinching them down with the nippers...I shoulda waited til the end of the video, before asking such a question!
@@ABlackCountryWoman no problem :) I explain what I'm doing in this video: ruclips.net/video/wV3EtEFU1ng/видео.html

That was amazing .so what is the blue stuff for ?
Watch the other version of the video, I explain there
@@maverick_vet cool will do 👍
Do you ever talk to the horse sometimes while working to keep them calm?
Also, what does the horse rest it’s hoof on when your working? Always looks like it’s on your leg but I’m not 100% sure.
I think from what I’ve seen there’s a little stand thing? But it could also be his leg. I have no idea I wanna know to
my calf
my stand on the hinds
Jeez your must have rock hard calfs then! I would be aching if I had to hold a position for that long while balancing a horse’s hoof.
Turn to light
Is it hurt?
It doesn't hurt mate
It feels like getting your fingernails trimmed
